Abbie quickly entered the bar after she got out of the car. When Thomas saw this, he Thomas gave up on hailing a taxi and walked across the road to the bar.
Abbie entered the bar and ordered a few bottles of alcohol while she sat in a corner. She opened a bottle and took a swig while she was filled with anger.
She called Michael just now and told him that she had settled the funds that the Davis family’s company needed. She thought that Michael would be ecstatic, but she didn’t expect that he would upset and scold her over the phone.
Abbie felt extremely wronged. She had always done everything for Michael and she even sacrificed her pride. Why didn’t Michael appreciate her and how could he say that she was meddlesome? Why did she try so hard to please someone like Michael?
When Thomas entered the bar to find Abbie, she had already drunk three bottles of alcohol. He was shocked when he saw the empty bottles Abbie had placed next to her. Abbie was drinking heavy liquor, so he reached out and stopped her when she was about to drink the fourth bottle. “Abbie!”
Abbie was shocked when she heard Thomas voice. Se fixed her eyes on him and asked, “It’s you? Why are you here?”
“I followed you here.” Thomas sat down. “Why did you drink so much?”
“I’m drowning my sorrows with wine.” Abbie smiled bitterly.
“Who made you upset?”
“Who else could it be? Who else could provoke me apart from that bastard, Michael?” Abbie was a bit tipsy and she was in a bad mood, so she was eager to complain about her situation.
She told Thomas about Michael’s situation. “Is it wrong for me to help him? I begged my best friend to help him, but he didn’t appreciate it at all. I feel so foolish, so just let me get drunk.”
Abbie complained and went to grab the alcohol, but Thomas blocked her hand. “Well, Michael didn’t mean that.”
“What does he mean?” Abbie asked.
“He just doesn’t want you to worry about him. Men are very dignified and they want to deal with their difficulties and troubles without relying on others.”
“I’m not an outsider and I’m someone who wants to marry him.”
Thomas was silent when he heard that. “But you haven’t married him yet, right? Michael probably doesn’t want others to look down on him.”
“Is that true?”
“I would think the same way as well. Michael is so proud, so he should think the same.”
Abbie narrowed her eyes and thought for a while. She felt that Thomas’s words made sense. “Did I misunderstand him? But I really want to help him and I have already convinced Valeria to lend me the money. How can I let him accept the money?”
“Well, this matter can’t be rushed. Maybe Michael doesn’t want to be so pressured. After all, money can’t solve the problem of the Davis family. Michael is a lawyer, not a talented businessman. Even a businessman can’t guarantee a profitable business. How can he pay you back if the money you gave him was wasted? Michael should consider this problem.”
“Does he really think so? If this is the reason, I can forgive him.” Abbie knew that she wasn’t borrowing a small sum from Valeria. If Michael didn’t have the ability to do business and caused losses of about half a million dollars, she wouldn’t even have a dowry when she got married.
She would rather use her dowry to support Michael than lose all of the money.
“Michael must that way, do you don’t have to worry.” Thomas smiled gently.
“Thank you! I feel much better after hearing what you said. I’ll buy you a drink!” Abbie pushed the bottle in front of Thomas.
Thomas did not refuse and picked up a bottle of wine. “I’m not good at drinking, so I can’t drink much.”
“Are you more of a lightweight than me?” Abbie frowned and looked at Thomas.
“Actually, I’m still hungry. It’s not good to drink on an empty stomach.”
Abbie also felt hungry when she heard Thomas’ words. “Then I’ll treat you to supper?”
Thomas nodded with a smile and said, “Well, you can treat me today and it’ll be my turn next time.”
The two of them left the bar and went to the night market for supper.
Su ordered a lot of barbecued meat and beer. This time, Thomas did not stop her and the two of them ate at the barbecue stall until two o’clock in the morning.
Abbie had drunk too much, so she stumbled while walking. Thomas was sober, so he helped Abbie get into the taxi and sent her back to the apartment.
The taxi stopped in front of Abbie’s apartment. Thomas helped her get out of the car because she was stumbling around and entered the apartment.
She was so drunk that she couldn’t find her way, so it took Thomas a lot of effort to send her into the house.
Thomas went to the kitchen to make some honey for Abbie when he saw her lying motionless on the sofa. However, the door was pushed open and Michael arrived as soon as Thomas brought out the honey.
Michael was stunned when he saw Thomas holding the cup, but his face suddenly darkened when he saw Abbie motionless on the sofa. “What did you do to her?”
“She drank too much, so I took her home and make her a cup of honey,” Thomas explained.
“What? Did you drink with her? Thomas, did you get her drunk? I’ve always regarded you as a gentleman, but I didn’t expect you to be so sly.”
Michael didn’t believe Thomas’ words so easily. He thought that Thomas wanted to get Abbie drunk to take advantage of her.
Thomas frowned and said, “Michael, don’t impose your thoughts on me like that. I’m not that cunning.”
Michael didn’t believe that Thomas had pure intentions. “Haha, can you guarantee that nothing will happen if I hadn’t come here?”
“Yes!” Thomas looked at Michael coldly. “Michael, you’re lucky that you got to know her before me. That’s the only reason why I lost. I won’t steal her away from you, but I won’t hesitate if you take the initiative to let go.”
“Aren’t you too shameless?” Michael sneered. “I will never give you a chance!”
“I hope so. After all, I want to see her happy. I want to remind you that she is willing to do anything for you, but what can you do for her? Think about it carefully. I don’t want to see her get drunk alone after you hurt her ever again. This is the last time!”
Thomas put the glass of honey into Michael’s hand and left after he said this.
Michael looked at the cup in his hand while he listened to the sound of the door closing and Abbie, who was unconscious. He poured the honey water Thomas made into the sink and made another cup before he walked to Abbie. He reached out to hold Abbie and said, “Abbie, drink some honey before you sleep!”
