It was impossible for Braelynn to be hurt as she had a knack for martial arts. She swiftly moved sideways upon seeing Azalea attempting to harm her. Azalea hit the bonsai on her head and she let out a cry.
Blood instantly dripped from Azalea’s forehead. She crumbled on the ground while continued to scream miserably. It was perfect timing that Emily had coincidentally appeared at the scene.
Emily felt nervous and rushed over quickly. “Azalea, what happened to you?”
Azalea’s face was covered in blood and she was genuinely in agony. She initially just wanted to be in a heated agreement with Braelynn. She did not expect to hit her head at all.
She no longer needed to pretend as her injured spot was in excruciating pain. The only thing that she needed to do was to scream at the top of her lungs.
Emily was worried and immediately helped Azalea up. She raised her voice and asked, “Who did this to you? Who was it?”
“It’s her! She’s a good friend of Abbie and she was the one who beat me like this! I have no business with her. Hence, it must be Abbie who had instructed her to get rough on me!” Azalea cried while pointing at Braelynn.
“You are the guilty one, aren’t you? You look very young. How could you be so violent?” Emily questioned.
“You have misunderstood me as I did not lay a finger on her at all. She was the one who did this to herself,” Braelynn tried her best to explain.
Emily was so worried and did not listen to Braelynn’s explanation. “She would be out of her mind in doing this to herself, right? I’m warning you, I will never let you off the hook! I’ll see you court!”
“That’s ridiculous!” Braelynn frowned and continued speaking, “She is acting. I shall remind you that she had staged this show alongside those women just to deceive you. She got mad at me when I caught her red-handed. She should blame herself for getting hurt as she wanted to hit me first.”
“Shut up! Do you think that I am stupid enough by listening to your words?” Emily did not believe her at all.
“That’s the fact and I don’t see the point of lying to you.”
“You’re the only one who truly knows whether you are innocent or not! I’m warning you to not mess with me. I’ll beat you to death if you continue to spew nonsense!”
Emily hated Azalea to the core but she was nevertheless the mother of Azalea. It was impossible for Emily to remain indifferent upon seeing the miserable look on her daughter’s face.
Emily spoke in a rude manner as she was feeling upset. Braelynn frowned and did not speak. It was a tense atmosphere and Lucian’s voice suddenly came from behind. “Mind your language! My daughter is not one who could be simply messed with!”
Emily turned her head around upon hearing her voice. “Are you her mother?”
Braelynn left the restaurant and did not come back for a long time. Lucian then decided to head out and get ahold of her. She coincidentally saw Braelynn being questioned by Emily, who had her back against hers. She immediately rushed over to save her daughter from trouble. However, she was shocked upon seeing Emily’s face and subconsciously took a step back.
How could this person be her?
Lucian knew Emily but not the other way round. She met Emily for the first time when she pretended to be ill just to swap children at the hospital. She had prepared a baby in advance to exchange the child of Gurmisran’s boss. It was then she met Emily when she was prepared to leave the hospital after changing the child.
It was late at midnight during that time. She got down to business when the nurse was sleeping soundly. She carried the VIP’s baby from the infant room. She ran into Emily when she carried the child while passing by the corridor.
She was well prepared at that time, whereas Emily was seen to be wearing a hospital gown. It seemed that she was heading towards the infant room to see her child.
Lucian remembered Emily despite seeing her once as she was breathtakingly beautiful. One who was exceptionally ugly and beautiful would hold a great impression on others. Lucian did not expect to see her again after more than twenty years.
Emily was not very much different compared to the old days. She was still very gorgeous and had aged gracefully.
Lucian felt nervous thinking about the situation that happened in the past. Would Emily be able to recognize her?
Lucian had secretly swapped a child which was not something to be proud of. It would be chaotic should Emily knew who she was.
Lucian felt guilty about the thing that she had done in the past. She wanted to argue with Emily but soon chickened out.
Emily had no impression of Lucian at all. She was very upfront upon seeing Lucian and said, “The child had definitely learned such a thing from her parents. Aren’t you ashamed to stand up for her? Do come clean to me. Your daughter had violently harmed my niece. What are you going to do about it?”
“I… I…” Lucian stammered and struggled to retort back. Braelynn was surprised by Lucian’s reaction. She had never seen her mother be so awkward and passive. What happened to her?
Braelynn would not allow Lucian to be questioned by Emily in this way despite feeling in shock. She sneered and said, “Excuse me, you are in no position to be the judge whether I am the guilty one or not. There is a surveillance camera here as evidence. You can make a report to the police. They will get ahold of the footage and you would soon know the entire story, right? There is no use to make a fuss here anyway. I suggest that you send Miss Clark to the hospital as she is currently injured. Rest assured as Miss Clark will have the final say on her decision in calling for the police as backup! My name is Braelynn Saunders and I have nothing to hide. I will welcome you with open arms should you decide to seek the police’s assistance!”
Braelynn was the one who suggested the police’s interferance in this matter. Emily thought that she had someone to back her up, whereas Azalea was feeling troubled by it. How could Azalea forget that there was a surveillance camera here? The story of her being humiliated by Thomas would once again occur should the footage be obtained.
She needed to pass out first as she refused to make a police report. Azalea immediately fainted and Emily was shocked by it. Emily had always regarded Azalea as her own and was utterly worried about her. An ambulance coincidentally passed by the area. Emily no longer had the mood to argue with Braelynn. She followed the medical personnel into the ambulance and was sent to the hospital alongside Azalea.
Both Emily and Azalea left the restaurant in a hurry. Lucian eventually returned back to normal and asked, “Braelynn, what happened just now?”
“Azalea is just trying to blackmail me and it is not a big deal,” Braelynn replied with a faint smile on her face.
“Are you sure about it? There was blood all over her face…”
It’s fine. Rest assured that this is nothing to be worried about. Mummy, do you still want to have your dinner? We can leave now if you’re done with it.”
Lucian shook her head and said, “I’m full. On the other hand, you did not have much just now. I’m worried that you might still be hungry.”
“Nope, I’m feeling good. I have lost my appetite upon encountering such a situation. Let’s head back now then. I can always order takeout if I happen to be starving later.”
Lucian did not refuse her idea and said, “Alright then, let’s call it a day, and do remember to tell your father about this incident. The woman is injured and we need to be extra careful about it. Call me immediately if there are any updates on this matter.”
“Okay mummy, I got it. Have a safe trip back home!”
The two of them parted ways at the barbeque restaurant and drove away respectively. Braelynn had a gloomy look on her face upon her way back home. She decided to tell Valeria about the incident that happened to Azalea just now.
The following scene had taken place in the Howard family’s old estate. William accompanied Valeria to take a stroll in the garden after enjoying their dinner. The coupled walked and chatted while locking hands with each other. Valeria asked, “Did Mark go home already?”
“Yes. He boarded the plane at night.”
“I should have sent him off. After all, the gown that he had designed for me is absolutely beautiful!”
“I’ll ask him to design a few more of them since you are a fan of his artwork. You can wear them at any time as you please!”
“It is not appropriate to wear a wedding dress during ordinary days. There will definitely be gossips about me.”
“Why should unimportant people meddle into our happiness? I was even thinking about holding another wedding ceremony after you have given birth to our babies. I would like him to design your wedding gown again. What do you think?”
“Sure!” Valeria nodded with a pair of sparkly eyes. “Honey, you’re being very nice to me!”
“Isn’t that what a husband should do? I almost forgot about something. Honey, let’s have a wedding photo shoot tomorrow!”
