She felt that Braelynn was hinting at her about something. Did Braelynn know what she had done? Was Braelynn giving her a reminder?
Lucian had been laying low and never revealed her plan to anyone else before. It was illogical for Braelynn to feel doubtful about her.
She had second thoughts as nothing was impossible. Raelyn and Devon had been using the Saunders family as their triumph card but ended up in such a mess. Lucian decided to be much more cautious ever since she witnessed the downfall of the Anderson family.
She used to be interested in Natalie and genuinely wanted to be with her forever. She did some guilty acts but was not as vicious as Raelyn and her family. Besides, no one could impose a threat on her as she had composed herself well all this while. She was confident that she would not end up like Raelyn.
Lucian was slightly at ease when she convinced herself that the spotlight was not on her. She needed to treat Braelynn better as she was the only person to rely on. She was hopeful that Braelynn would eventually let her guard down and be on the same team as her. Braelynn would come for her rescue should Lucian be caught in any trouble in the future.
Lucian wandered in her thoughts for a moment and said, “Braelynn, you have seem to lost some weight. Have you been overworking yourself? Let’s have dinner at your favorite barbeque spot and it shall be my treat.”
Lucian had brought her up since she was little. She also did not do harm towards Braelynn all this while. William would not target Lucian as long as she would repent her mistake. Braelynn nodded and said, “Alright, let’s have a meal together at night. However, I should be the one paying for it.”
“I only realized that it has been a long time since we last have a meal together.” Lucian glanced at her dotingly and continued speaking, “I still remember what you told me when you were still a child. You promised to study hard and be a successful person. You can then be wealthy and treat me well. You even wanted to buy me a big house with countless beautiful pieces of clothing. You aspire to take good care of me and make me a happy mom!”
Braelynn was perplexed upon hearing her reply. She did say such things to Lucian when she was young. She would not have distanced herself from Lucian should she not know about her ulterior motives. She would treat Lucian well as a sign of appreciation for raising her since she was little. However, she felt distressed upon knowing what was going on in Lucian’s mind.
She was not aware of the dirty things that Lucian had done. She was also not confident whether Lucian would repent her mistakes or not. There was a possibility that Lucian might get onto the nerves of Wiliam. He would definitely not let her off the hook. Braelynn did not know whether she would turn a blind eye or will rescue Lucian out of trouble. Braelynn felt unsettled as the future was out of her control.
She desperately hoped that Lucian would not have the same fate as the Anderson family. She needed to try her best in persuading Lucian to turn into a new leaf.
Both Lucian and Braelynn decided to have dinner at a barbeque buffet restaurant at B City. Lucian had been taking care of Braelynn during dinner time to emphasize how good of a mother she was.
Braelynn felt awkward for Lucian to treat her so well. She did not have the mood to enjoy dinner and the food tasted bland for her. She came up with an excuse to use the bathroom and eventually left the restaurant.
She stood beside the bonsai in the corridor and took a few deep breaths. She was thinking about ways in hinting Lucian to change for the better.
Her thoughts were disrupted by footsteps emerging from the corridor. A woman’s voice was heard, “My aunt will be here real soon. You need to put on a great show to convince her that someone has indeed hit me!”
Braelynn was stunned upon hearing about it. She peeked out and realized that Azalea was talking to a woman. Azalea was casually dressed without any makeup on and messy hair. She looked utterly different from her usual glorious appearance.
The woman beside her asked Azalea hesitantly, “Miss Clark, are you really sure about it?”
“Of course! How can my aunt take pity on me if I don’t do this? This is my only chance to make her feel bad for me.”
“Alright then!” The woman agreed.
“You can head down and be my messenger. Do give me a call as soon as you spot my aunt. By the way, do instruct your pool of people to get ready for the show.”
“Noted!” The woman agreed and eventually left.
Braelynn did not expect to witness such a juicy situation upon relaxing by the corridor. She sneered and intended to stay put for the time being. She stood there and was looking forward to Azalea’s performance.
Three women who were dressed up as hippies came upstairs a few minutes later. They greeted her with a smile, “Miss Clark, hello!”
“Nice to meet you girls. Remember to convince my aunt that Abbie had instructed you girls in bullying me. Have I made myself clear?”
“Yes. We will definitely do as you say!”
Braelynn had a displeased look on her face upon hearing about it. She initially thought that Azalea just wanted to deceive her aunt. Things would be different when Abbie was in the picture as well. How could Braelynn have the heart to see Abbie being blamed?
Braelynn emerged behind the bonsai and let out a cough. Azalea and the three women were startled as they had assumed that no one was there.
Braelynn waved the phone in her hand to them and said, “Azalea, you are indeed a mean and despicable person. I did not expect you to have the guts in throwing Abbie under the bus. I have recorded what you have said just now. Get out of here right now if you don’t intend to get into trouble. Otherwise, I shall let your aunt enjoy the recording on my phone.”
Azalea was taken aback by the sight of Braelynn. She was agitated upon being threatened by her.
Her plan would fail once again should Braelynn had indeed recorded her conversation just now. She suffered a terrible defeat because Thomas was in her way last time. It would be game over for her should Braelynn mess things up this time. After all, Emily was being deceived and was making her way here from Misurton in an anxious mood.
Azalea was not willing to give up just yet and Emily was about to arrive. She needed to come up with a way to avoid her efforts going all in vain. She knew that Braelynn may have recorded the conversation with her mobile phone. There was no way for Braelynn to win this game if her phone was being damaged, right?
Braelynn and Abbie nevertheless belonged to the same team. Azalea can even seize this perfect opportunity and make Braelynn the guilty one as well.
Azalea made up her mind and forcefully smiled. “Ms. Saunders, what good would you achieve by doing this to me?”
“Are you going to leave or not? Pick a choice right now!” Braelynn glanced at her coldly. Azalea was pissed off but also felt intimidated as Braelynn might be holding important evidence in her hand. She nodded and said, “Alright. I’ll leave right away!”
Her mind was racing with thoughts and she soon came up with an idea. She pretended to turn around and was about to leave. She suddenly shouted, “Miss Brown! William!”
Azalea was excellent at deceiving others as she was an actress. Braelynn was convinced by her performance and turned around to have a look. Azalea knew that it was her chance to make things right and quickly grabbed the phone.
Braelynn realized that she had been fooled when her phone was being snatched away. She immediately tried to get her phone back. However, Azalea was quick on her feet by throwing the phone away before charging towards Braelynn.
