Archer shook his head upon seeing his father leaving them. Gavin must have been feeling skeptical judging by how he had instructed Arthur to accompany Archer.
“My dad must be having second thoughts about me since he has indirectly instructed you to keep an eye on me. Pfft! He has been trusting the wrong person all this while. I don’t even know whether he is still in his sound mind or not!”
Arthur smiled apologetically and said, “He can’t help but hesitate due to his age. Do calm down as you are ultimately the innocent one. Mr. Saunders will have no choice but to accept the truth when the time comes.”
Archer nodded and said, “Alright then. I am no longer worried about Gavin since he still has the strength to doubt my actions!”
Deborah, Valeria, and William had finished watching the opera performance and went to have dinner together. It was still early and Deborah proposed to watch a movie with them.
They finally decided to call it a day and the married couple sent Deborah back to the hotel by ten in the evening.
Fandrey teased her after not seeing his wife for around eight to nine hours, “You are finally home. I thought that you would be spending the night out for today!”
“That’s right. I wanted to do that but I do not wish to tire Valeria out. I then suggested ending the day and told her to rest well. We will meet up again by tomorrow.”
Fandrey had a displeased look on his face upon hearing about it. “You are joking, aren’t you?”
“Of course not. I will be meeting her for a few consecutive days as she promised to take me for a food tour around B City.” Deborah was elated and continued speaking, “I used to not be a fan of Valeria but I have now changed my mind. She is such a gentle person with a kind personality. It is n wonder why William would adore her so much.”
“You finally found someone to hang out with. Are you trying to abandon me now?” Fandrey pretended to be angry.
“Of course not! I was about to tell you that Valeria had mentioned you today. Would you want to join us then?”
“Well, let me think about it!”
Deborah snorted and said, “Why are you being so hesitant? It’s fine if you decline the request. You will only get in our way for us to have a girl talk. It would be a blessing in disguise should you not join in the fun!”
Fandrey immediately retorted, “Since when did I claim to not follow you girls around? I’m relatively interested in going on a food trip around B City.”
“I knew you’d say that. Pfft! I’m tired and I shall take a shower before calling it a day.” Deborah got up and headed towards the bedroom.
Angel was in her bedroom and hid behind the door to eavesdrop on her grandparent’s conversation. She pursed her lips upon hearing Valeria being praised and said, “Pfft! They don’t even care about me when I am the daughter of the Floyd family. Why would they treat me like this? They have gone overboard!”
Angel was feeling upset and went to lay on her bed. She needed to come up with a way to turn things around. What would be the best idea then?
Her grandparents had been keeping a distance from her as they were holding a grudge against her. On the other hand, Callum was still very strict with her. She knew that the only person that she could rely on was Veronica.
Angel picked up her phone and sent a message to Veronica. “Mummy, grandma has spent the entire day with Valeria and even praised her. Grandma is planning to hang out with her for a few more days and she does not even care about me at all. I’m so pissed off!”
“Don’t you know that your grandparents do not love you like old days? They gave your cousin the amusement park located in Misurton,” Veronica reverted.
“When did this happen?” Angel was extremely surprised upon hearing about it.
“It just occurred not long ago. Why would you think that Valeria is so patient to hang out with your grandmother then? She needed to please your grandparents upon receiving such a valuable gift for no apparent reason!”
“That is ridiculous! How can they do this to me? I’m part of the family and the only granddaughter in the Floyd family. I did not receive anything, including any shares from them. What are they trying to do by being so biased towards Valeria? I’m so pissed off and genuinely want to get rid of her! Nothing has been going my way ever since she came into the picture.”
Veronica sneered upon reading the text message sent by her daughter. Does Angel want to lay a finger on Valeria? This was a good idea but Angel, that idiot, was not a capable person. This matter should be planned meticulously for it to be a success.
Veronica reverted the message, “Do mind your language as she is your cousin-in-law. Angel, you need to change your perception to turn things around. You can start by getting on your grandparents’ good side before doing the same thing to her. You need to coax Valeria and be in a friendly relationship with her. You are the only daughter of the Floyd family, but that doesn’t mean your grandparents’ wealth would be passed on solely to you. Your cousin is part of the family as well, right?”
“Mummy, what do you mean? Are you saying that William may inherit the wealth from grandpa and grandma?”
“Yes, there may be such a possibility. William is a capable and talented man after all. He will bring the business into the next level should it be under his care, don’t you think so?”
Angel’s heart jolted upon reading such a text from her mother. She had always assumed to be the sole inheritance of the Floyd family. What else would she be left with if William indeed gained the ownership of the Floyd family’s business?
She can’t allow such a disastrous thing to happen. “Mummy, are you willing to let William be the owner of the company?”
“I’m alright with that since it is not meant to be mine from the very beginning. Your grandparents will not pass on their wealth to me anyway. Hence, I have no comment on who shall be the next in line.”
“What are you talking about? Mummy, you have raised me since I was a child and I have always been treating you as my biological mother. You are indirectly the owner of the company should grandpa and grandma transfer it to me. However, things are different should William be the one who gets it. Mummy, you have to come up with a plan in backing me up, right?”
“Angel, it is hard to predict the future judging by current circumstances. It is just my speculation about the transfer of ownership and your grandparents may eventually just give it to you. However, it would do you good by being on good terms with Valeria and William. Your grandparents would be pleased to see family members living peacefully with each other. They might have a change of mind should they see you put in a great effort by befriending Valeria.”
“Alright. I wanted to do this long ago but Valeria did not even give me a chance to perform.”
“When there is a will, there is definitely a way. Do remember a few points should you decide to please someone else. You have to be thick-skinned and humble down as the first step. Do try your very best in finding out what that person is a fan of as this method is generally very effective. Do not give up and keep trying should you face a few hiccups along the way. Valeria will then let her guard down and eventually be comfortable around you.”
“Alright. What should I do next when I have got on her good side?”
“Come to me when she has been treating you comfortably as a friend. I will then tell you what to do next.”
“Mummy is not telling me anything useful, right?” Angel muttered and angrily threw the phone on the bedside.
Veronica had a wicked expression on her face after sending over the last text message. She needed to make sure that the Floyd Family and the Howard family will never be on good terms. She had thought of a perfect plan to kill two birds with one stone upon texting with Angel just now. All hopes were on Angel to see if she would make a move according to her plan.
Veronica knew that opportunity would arise in messing with Valeria should her daughter try her best to be on good terms with her. Both families would definitely be in a stern relationship when the time came.
