Chapter 870 Fate

“Who has gotten onto your nerve?” Valeria queried.
“Who else could it be apart from Azalea, that b*tch? Are you aware of what she has done? I have no idea how that s*ut knew that I was going home today and came up with an act. She came home and immediately knelt in front of me to beg for my mercy. My parents were not aware of the full picture and began to scold me upon listening to her nonsense. I did not even have the chance to defend myself! Valeria, are they really my biological parents? Why are they so blindsided by that b*tch?”
Abbie’s voice had a hint of helplessness and dissatisfaction. “Why would they treat an outsider so good when I am their daughter? What good would they reap for giving me an earful when that s*ut tried to sow discord?”
“Abbie, you have soft-hearted parents. Azalea had a knack for pretending and they must have bought on her act. Your parents have yet to see the real her. However, do calm down as we would soon come up with a way to expose her.”
Abbie’s mood did not improve despite Valeria’s persuasion, “I think it’s a rather difficult task! Her father is the main reason why my parents adore her so much. I’m sure that you are well aware of how her father had risked his life to save my father. I don’t think it would make a huge difference even if I managed to show them what kind of a person she is. By the way, Michael’s mother was also there and had a fantastic performance alongside Azalea. They also seized the opportunity to talk about Michael’s relationship with Azalea. My parents agreed to provide her with a dowry during her wedding day. I would be suffocated if I continued to take their b*llshit.”
“Where are you now?” Valeria asked as she was feeling worried.
“I drove away from home and I think I have lost my way.”
Valeria was anxious and advised, “Abbie, do park your car by the roadside for now and check your location.”
Abbie stopped the car and glanced at the built-in GPS on her vehicle. “I seem to have arrived at Misurton.”
“What? Are you indicating that you were long gone from home?” Valeria roughly knew the distance between B City and Misurton. “Abbie, why don’t I come over and get ahold of you?”
“It’s fine. You don’t have to make such a hassle as you are currently pregnant. I just called you as I needed someone to talk to,” Abbie sighed.
“Valeria, I envy you so much. You used to say how blessed I am to have parents and a brother who adored me so much. Look at how the tables have turned. You have such a loving husband and would always have your back no matter what happens. To be honest, I am feeling slightly jealous of you. I suddenly have an urge to get married! This mess could be avoided if I were lucky enough to have a husband who treats me right.”
Valeria knew that Abbie was feeling under the weather and comforted, “Abbie, you need not think so negatively as your brother would always be on your team. Besides, marriage is not something to be decided rashly. Do take one step at a time and see how it goes from there! Abbie, do stay put and I would ask my husband to arrange for someone to pick you up. What do you think?”
Abbie had yet to reply and there was suddenly a knock on her car window. She glanced over and was stunned, “Thomas? Why are you here?”
“I came down from my car as I feel familiar upon seeing your license plate number. I didn’t expect to see you here.” Thomas smiled and look at Abbie before asking, “Why are you here? Are you here for a trip or something else?”
Valeria heard Thomas’s voice on the phone and said, “Abbie, are you talking to Thomas?”
“Yes,” Abbie answered.
“Do pass the phone over to Thomas as I want to have a word with him.” Abbie then handed him the phone and explained, “Valeria wants to have a chat with you.”
Thomas took the phone over and said, “Valeria!”
“Mr. Gurney, hello there. Well, Abbie went out for a road trip but got lost and I am very worried about her. However, I am feeling relieved since you are there with her. Can you please help to keep an eye on Abbie?”
“Of course!” Thomas agreed.
“Thank you so much! It’ll be my treat when you visit B City next time!”
“Don’t mention it as I’m glad to lend a helping hand!”
Valeria let out a sigh of relief upon entrusting Thomas to take care of Abbie. However, she still felt slightly anxious and glanced at William before speaking, “Honey, Abbie got upset and is currently at Misurton. I’m glad that Thomas is there with her, but I am still feeling rather uneasy. Can you please send someone over to check up on her?”
“No problem!” William agreed. It would be best to assign Silas on this task as he was currently at Misurton. Valeria immediately warned William just when he was about to call Silas, “You are not allowed to notify Michael, that scumbag, about this. Be prepared to experience h*ll from me if you have the guts to hint him about Abbie’s updates!”
William had a helpless look on his face and agreed, “Okay, you have my word. Michael would not receive any message about Abbie from me.”
Valeria knew how cunning of a person William was. She made herself clear once again, “Don’t you dare to play games with me. You should act dumb if Michael calls you to ask about Abbie.”
“Okay! My wife would always have the final say!”
Valeria was still feeling skeptical and questioned, “You’re not planning something fishy behind my back, aren’t you?”
“Absolutely not! Honey, don’t worry about it as I would ignore Michael, that b*stard. I promise to not pick up his phone call.” Michael coincidentally called him just when William gave his word to Valeria. He swiftly rejected Micahel’s call.
Michael dialed William’s number again but it still did not get through. He did not expect William to reject his call and sent a WhatsApp message over, “William, what the h*ll are you doing? Why are you ignoring my calls?”
Michael sent another message without waiting for William’s reply. He then realized that the messages had only one tick which meant that William had blocked his number. Michael was extremely upset by it.
Valeria was the one who used her husband’s phone to blacklist Michael’s WhatsApp contact number. She grinned while continuing to hold William’s phone in her hand and said, “Honey, your phone would be under my care for the time being.”
William had no choice and helplessly agreed while shaking his head. Valeria was no longer in the mood to enjoy the flowers. She left the garden with William’s phone in her hand and said,
“Abbie’s upsetness is a blessing in disguise for her. She drove to Misurton and coincidentally met with Thomas. This is fate, isn’t it? Abbie and Thomas may fall in love with each other and would eventually get married. They will then have children and live a lovely life together. Honey, what do you think?”
William realized that it was a tricky question and swiftly changed the topic. “Sweetheart, you did tell me to instruct someone to keep track of Abbie, right? I would like to give Silas a call as he is currently in Misurton.”
Valeria returned the phone to him as she had almost forgotten about it. William then gave Silas a call on the spot, “Abbie went to Misurton as she had some conflicts with her family. She had unexpectedly met with Thomas and you shall keep a close eye on them.”
Silas immediately agreed, “Noted! I will protect Miss Clark at all cost! Mr. Howard, I would also like to notify you about something.”
“What is it?” William asked.
“It’s about Thomas as per your request to investigate his background. He was not born in the Gurney family but was being adopted instead.”
