Fandrey sighed, “William didn’t say anything, but his actions have already made it clear. Do you know where he is now?”
“How would I know where he is?” Deborah shook her head.
“Then let me tell you where William is right now. He is now in the dining room downstairs with his in-laws and he hasn’t said a word since this morning. He has already made it clear that he’s getting impatient with us. Just stop it!”
Deborah picked up her phone and angrily called William’s number. “This b*stard! I don’t believe that he’ll treat us like this. I have to call him.”
The phone rang for a long time before it was connected. “Grandma!”
William’s voice was cold without a trace of warmth. Deborah could feel a hint of pressure even on the phone. She originally wanted to question him, so she softened her tone and asked, “Why didn’t you come over today?”
William’s voice was still icy. “Who said I didn’t? I already went over this morning? My wife almost got into an accident last night and I personally told grandpa and uncle about it.”
“You weren’t there at the time and I heard that you went to the hospital to visit Azalea. I was moved that you took the effort to care for an outsider even though you were so busy. I thought that I shouldn’t bother you with such trivial matters, so I gave you some space to deal with your things.”
Deborah blushed as William’s words were too cynical. She went to the hospital to see Azalea, but she did not ask about Valeria at all. Her actions were indeed overboard.
William did not give Deborah the chance to speak. “I’m busy right now, so you can get back to your work. Bye!”
Both Callum and Fandrey on the sofa looked at Deborah, who was extremely embarrassed. “This b*stard…”
Fandrey interrupted her. “Alright, stop scolding him. There’s no point in doing that! You’re just asking for trouble!”
Deborah felt resentful. “Based on how he keeps defending Valeria this way, he must have been hexed!”
“I would’ve protected you the same way, but does that mean that I’m under your control?” Fandrey asked.
“That’s different! I don’t even know how to place a hex on someone else. Talitha is Valeria’s cousin and she knows these things. She must have done it on William to make him so loyal to Valeria.”
“What’s the difference? A husband’s duty is to protect his wife. Should William work together with you to cause trouble for his wife? You shouldn’t have double standards!”
Fandrey’s words made Deborah even angrier. “This b*stard, I wanted him to be filial and obedient so I could give some shares to him. He shouldn’t blame me because he’s the one who acted this way! I will not give the shares to him!”
“Mom, William is not short of money and he has more wealth than our whole family. You want to threaten him with money, but you don’t even have the capability to do so.” Callum really couldn’t stand it anymore.
“Is he richer than us? Are you kidding me?” Deborah didn’t know that William was the president of the Wolf Group, so she couldn’t help arguing.
Callum shook his head. “Why do you think Marcus came here today? Do you really think Marcus arranged bodyguards to protect Valeria because he was threatened by William? It was just a general statement. The real reason is that Marcus was under William’s orders and we are now in his territory. William is the president of the Wolf Group, so do you think our family can be richer than him?”
“Well…” Deborah was shocked by William’s identity and she had nothing to say.
The living room descended into silence. Then, the door was pushed open and Sammuel walked in. When he saw the strange atmosphere in the living room, a look of surprise flashed across his face but he still greeted respectfully, “Sir! Madam! Mr. Floyd!”
“Mm! There are no outsiders here, so you can get straight to the point!” Fandrey spoke.
Sammuel immediately reported, “I just got the news that Azalea has been boycotted!”
“Who did it? Why did they do that?” Deborah asked immediately.
“It was issued by Wolf Group! I’ve asked around and it started in the morning. Azalea was even kicked out of the hospital.”
“In the morning? Does this mean that it started when you went to visit her?” Fandrey looked at Deborah.
“What does this have to do with me?” Deborah asked sulkily.
“What did Azalea say when you saw her?” Fandrey frowned and asked.
“She didn’t say anything.”
“Really? Then who told you all those bad things about Valeria? Do you have the ability to read her mind? How did you know that she’s using her power to bully others?” Fandrey asked.
Deborah couldn’t deny it. “Yes, Azalea talked bad about Valeria, but I didn’t say anything. How did William know about this?”
“Don’t you know that the walls have ears?! Don’t tell me you don’t know such a simple fact at your age?” Fandrey snorted.
Fandrey’s words made Deborah feel humiliated. “Is it good for William to use his power to bully a woman? I’m pretty sure Valeria is the one who coerced him into doing this!”
“Enough! Don’t say anything more about Valeria! We know her character better than William. Just as I said, we’re only his maternal grandparents, not his real parents. Even his real parents may not be able to have any say in their marriage, so let’s not worry about it anymore!”
Angel was lying on the bed while she listened to them carefully. At first, she thought that Deborah could persuade Fandrey and Callum to come in and comfort her, but they were incredibly stubborn. Then, she felt uneasy when she heard that William was the president of the Wolf Group and that he had boycotted Azalea.
She thought that William was just an ordinary man, so she wanted Fandrey and Deborah to put pressure on him. However, it seemed like her plan wouldn’t work.
Angel picked up her phone and sent a message to Veronica. “Mom, I just heard a piece of shocking news. My cousin turned out to be president of the Wolf Group. Isn’t that unbelievable?”
“Yeah, it is. Did he personally tell you his identity?” Veronica quickly asked.
“No, I heard Grandpa, Grandma and Dad talking outside. I always thought that William was an ordinary person, so I wanted to suppress and control him. I didn’t expect him to be like this. Mom, I did something wrong and offended him. What should I do?”
“What did you do?” Veronica asked.
Angel told her what had happened to Valeria. “I just want to teach her a lesson, and I thought Valeria would not tell William. However, she told him and he’s defending her right now. He even told Grandpa and Dad about it. They were all angry after what happened in the afternoon. What should I do? Mom, help me find a way! I’m begging you!”
