Valeria was being sent to the hospital immediately. The group of specialists was already waiting for her arrival upon receiving a call about her injury.
She was swiftly sent to the examination room for a check-up. William had eventually arrived at the hospital alongside Bobby with anxious looks on their faces. Wiliam asked, “Dad, what has exactly happened? Are there any updates from the doctor?”
“She’s still in the midst of a checking.” Hayden rubbed his hands together and continued in a worrisome tone, “She wanted to call it a day but was feeling rather thirsty. She then headed downstairs to have a glass of water but accidentally lost balance on her way down. She had quick reflexes and immediately reached out to grab ahold of the railing. Otherwise, it would be a nightmare for us!”
Hayden was relieved upon briefing about Valeria’s update. He could not bear to think of the impact if Valeria had really falled off the stairs.
The door of the examination room was being opened during the midst of their conversation. Valeria was seated in a wheelchair and the doctor said, “Both the mother and children are fine. Mrs. Howard had sprained her ankle and she would be fine after an ice compression.”
“That’s comforting to hear!” Hayden heaved a sigh of relief.
William, on the other hand, was still concerned and said, “Please have her checked thoroughly once again!”
“William, everything is under control and you should have faith in us as the specialists. Your wife and the children in her belly are really alright! Don’t worry about it!”
Valeria chimed in and said, “Honey, I’m feeling okay. It’s just that my feet hurts by just a little, that’s all!”
She seemed genuinely fine but William decided that extra precautions should be taken. He instructed the doctor to get Valeria hospitalized, “Let’s have her stay at the hospital for the time being. She will be discharged by tomorrow if everything is proven to be fine.”
An ice packet was placed on Valeria’s injury spot upon entering the hospital ward. The doctor eventually left them alone after reminding her about some precautions.
William sat down beside the bed and touched Valeria’s leg. He asked, “Honey, does it hurt?”
“Yes, just a little. However, you need not to be worried as it is bearable,” Valeria replied.
“You really scared me to death!” William breathed out a sigh of relief and continued, “Please be much more careful next time to avoid making me so nervous again. Bobby had ran about seven to eight red lights and we oversped during our way here. The police would be coming for us real soon!”
“I didn’t mean to make you so worried as it’s just an accident,” Valeria pouted aggrievedly and continued, “Honey, are you suspecting that I purposely got myself injured as an excuse to come for me? Please believe me as I am telling you the truth.”
“No, I did not mean that as I’m just genuinely scared out of my wits! Please be more cautious from now onwards and I shall suggest you take the room on the ground floor instead. Besides, I would also arrange for the servant to accompany you when I’m not at home. I really feel unease when you are being careless,” William did not intend to blame Valeria but was instead genuinely concerned about her.
However, Valeria felt that he was pointing fingers at her for causing this mess.
“It’s just an accident and I’ll be much more careful next time. Besides, you are to be blamed too! You did not reply to my text messages and even left me alone. I was feeling all over the place!”
Hayden glared at William upon hearing about it and said, “You b*stard! Why would you ignore Valeria’s text messages? How could you be so heartless to your wife?”
William did not expect things to take a sudden turn and said, “Why are you giving me an earful instead? I don’t have the time to glance at my phone as I was busy with something just now.”
“Pfft! I’ve sent you countless messages but received no reply from you at all. You deliberately chose to neglect me and ruined my mood. Dad, he did it on purpose!” Valeria was being unreasonable.
Hayden had a stern look on his face and demanded, “William, apologize to Valeria right now! You ought to not do this to her again!”
“Dad, you can’t be blindsided by her words. I am clearly being accused!”
Hayden was not a foolish man and immediately recalled that William had refused to have dinner and left home. He scolded, “William, you are lucky that Valeria is fine. I will kill you if anything bad happens to her! You’re such a petty b*at! Do you possibly think that I am unaware of what is going on in your mind just now? Why would you act out merely because of a stranger?”
William knew that it was game over for him and burst into laughter. “Alright! I am at fault. Honey, could you please forgive me?”
Valeria arrogantly replied, “Hmph! Serves you right! I will complain to dad if you ever choose to ignore me next time. He will surely give you h*ll!”
She was feeling like a king in the world as Hayden was ready to back her up at all times. William gritted his teeth at her for being c*cky but there was nothing that he could do about it.
Raelyn sat on the sofa in Natasya’s hospital ward and sighed with a dull look on her face. “I have absolutely pissed off your grandpa. My text message can no longer get through to him as he has blocked my contact number. It is such a terrible day for me and it’s all because of you! Why would you even come up with the idea of a makeover to make him take pity on us? Look at where we are at right now! We gained nothing from him at all!”
Natasya was feeling irritated and snapped back, “I did not expect Valeria to be so cunning, alright? I would not have come up with this idea if I knew about her intention beforehand.”
“What should we do now?” Raelyn asked with a distressed look on her face.
“Let’s rely on Angel for now as she should be arriving at the country soon. The Floyd family can replace us to throw Valeria under the bus. I’m doubtful that she could forever be the winner in the battle!”
Raelyn decided to accept Natasya’s suggestion for now as she had no other ways left. She said, “Alright then. Contact Angel to seek about her whereabouts now.”
Natasya agreed and sent a text message to Angel. “Miss Floyd, have you arrived at B CIty?”
Angel reverted back at the speed of lightning, “Yes! We’ve just landed a while ago.”
Natasya immediately reported to Raelyn, “Mummy, Angel has arrived in B City!”
“Okay, that’s great. Do ask her about the tricks that are under her sleeve to deal with Valeria.”
“It’s unwise to cut straight to the chase. Mummy, why have you been so dull nowadays?” Natasya snorted and started to draft her text message. “Wow, that’s quick! I apologize for not being able to meet with you as I’m currently in the hospital. A meal would be on me after I have been discharged from the hospital.”
“There is no need for such a hassle! Besides, I don’t see the point of us meeting with each other. By the way, I have something to ask you about. Do you have any dirt on Valeria to point fingers at her for controlling William? I need it to bring her down!”
Natasya swiftly discussed with Raelyn after reading Angel’s text message. “Angel is asking me for some concrete pieces of evidence to throw Valeria under the bus. Where on earth could I obtain it for her?”
“She must be ready to make a move on Valeria judging by how straightforward she is. Let’s test the waters for now.”
Natasya thought for a moment before reverting back to the text message. “How can Valeria leave her tracks behind when she is so cunning? It is a fact that she has gotten William under her control. Why would you need anything else when it is so out in the open?”
“Are you indicating that you have nothing on Valeria? No wonder she had s*rewed you over so badly!” Angel mocked her.
Natasya cursed upon receiving Angel’s message, “What an i*iot! I would have given her hell if I did not intend to gain something from her. Who the h*ll does she thinks she is to be so rude towards me?”
Angel sent her another message after a while, “By the way, Valeria fell down from the stairs and has been hospitalized. You shall arrange for someone to gain the latest updates about her. I’ll be waiting for your reply soon.”
Natasya stared at the latest message for a while before sharing it with Raelyn, “Mummy, Angel told me that Valeria has fallen down from the stairs and was being sent to the hospital. How about you check her out since Angel wants to know about the situation as well?”
Raelyn was pleased upon hearing that Valeria had suffered from an injury and said, “Thank God! I desperately hope that Valeria would have a miscarriage. This shall be payback for being so impolite towards me!”
“We must have been blessed if that really is the case. However, do not get your hopes up too high! Head out and get something on Valeria right now as Angel is currently waiting for my reply.”
