Valeria left the flowers and exited the living room with a happy look with Abbie. William shook his head and shouted, “Silas, head over to see who would meet with Valeria and Miss Clark.”
Silas came out from the room as well as Bobby. “Sir, what’s going on?”
“Richard had pulled some strings for Abbie to meet with a talented man who used to work abroad. I had always assumed Richard was talking nonsense and did not expect things to get so serious. It would be a mess real soon.”
Bobby did not think twice and said, ” William, it’s much better to let nature take its course. Michael and Miss Clark would eventually be a couple if they are destined for each other. You ought to not worry too much as the ending would not change if they are not meant to be together.”
“You have a point, but one can always give his best shot. Michael should know about this soon and I am already having a headache upon thinking about his depressed mood.”
William’s phone suddenly rang just when he finished speaking. He spread out his hands to Bobby and said, “Talk about the devil.”
Bobby chuckled while seeing William answering the call with a troubled look on his face. Michael surprisingly did not complain and said, “William, do you know who would Abbie meet with at the blind date that was arranged by Richard?”
“I have no idea but I just arranged for someone to check it out.”
“Don’t bother about it as I know who the man is. I am currently observing them right now.” Michael gave a wry smile and said, “Thomas Gurney is the one who would be meeting with Abbie and your wife. I did not expect Richard to pull some strings with him.”
“Who is Thomas?” William asked with a confused look on his face.
“What? Aren’t you aware of who Thomas is? You do know about Evelyn Gurney, right? She is the eldest daughter of the Gurney family and was deeply in love with you last time.”
“Why would you let out such a secret all of a sudden?” William rolled his eyes and asked.
“I just want to tell you that Thomas is the cousin of Evelyn and is a very capable man. You’re not aware of his real name but I’m sure that you have heard of his nickname before. He goes by the name Tom and he did something impactful when he was abroad. You even praised him before. Does it ring a bell to you?”
“Tom? Isn’t he currently working abroad? When did he return back to the country? Why would he be arranged by Richard to have a blind date with Abbie?”
“He came back to visit his family members as well as his grandfather who is currently ill. It has just been a few days since he arrived.” Michael sighed and continued, “Richard has already been keeping his eye on Thomas long ago. That fella happened to be interested in Abbie when they were abroad and the feelings were mutual. It’ll be hell for me soon.”
“Why would you give up so easily?” William continued with a stern tone, “I was a playboy but still managed to win Valeria’s heart over despite my shattered reputation. Why are you feeling so insecure when you’re much better than me?”
“Things are different for me as Richard and Abbie’s parents do not like me. I’m sure that you are also aware of my family’s dynamic. I obviously can’t be enemies with Richard, right? Besides, Abbie would not go against her family just to be with me!”
“Alright, let’s wait and see how it goes then. Why didn’t you make a move on Abbie?” William was feeling annoyed as soon as Michael started complaining.
“I can’t get ahold of her at all ever since the incident that happened last time. She blocked my phone number and also moved back to live with her brother. She had always been surrounded by bodyguards every day. How on earth can I get close to her?”
William rubbed his forehead as this was indeed a legit problem that was currently faced by Michael. Richard arranged the bodyguards to protect Abbie and refused to help Michael out. Hence, it was logical that Michael did not manage to have any progress with Abbie.
“Thomas would be our starting point then. Let’s place him back where he belongs!” William came up with an idea.
“What are you talking about? Aren’t you aware of the company that he is currently working at? He is now the executive at the headquarters of the Floyd family’s company at Misurton! Why would you think Richard would arrange a blind date for Abbie with Thomas if it wasn’t for his achievement?”
William was surprised and questioned, “Are you sure that Thomas is currently working with the Floyd family? Why am I unaware of this?”
“Your attention is now fully on your wife and the children in her belly. Nothing else interests you and it would be a miracle should you know about this!”
William burst into laughter and said, “Are you blaming me right now? I would only pay attention to my enemies who might attack me sooner or later. The Floyd family is not within my scope as they won’t do harm to me, right?”
“Whatever! I am currently being caught in such a mess as that fella is no ordinary man. He did not rely on his family background and made it this far purely based on his efforts. He is indeed a tough opponent to deal with.”
“Are you planning to back down then?” William asked.
“What? How could I possibly give up on Abbie? I’m just feeling upset as nothing has been going my way so far!” Michael cursed but his tone soon changed.
“Holy f*ck, that fella is not only trying to win Abbie over but is also making a move at your wife. He gave your wife a disgusting smile and your wife smiled back at him as well. William, are you sure about it?”
“Are you trying to come between us?” William continued, “You can save the efforts on me. I’m confident that my wife is deeply in love with me and no one else!”
“No, that’s really not my intention. Thomas is giving your wife a bizarre look and I am genuinely being honest. Do wait up as I will snap a photo for you.”
Michael immediately took a picture and sent it to Wiliam via WhatsApp. William glanced and his face suddenly became as cold as ice. Bobby felt the sudden change of mood and said, “William…”
“Let’s head over right now!” William marched away.
It was at the cafe situated downstairs of the Wolf Group. Valeria glanced at Thomas and realized that he was a tall, handsome, courteous, and polite man.
The most captivating thing about Thomas was that he exerted a friendly aura towards others. Valeria felt warm whenever he smiled at her and he also had a pleasant voice too. “You’re Miss Brown, right? I have heard about you long ago.”
“Is that so? How would you get to know about me?”
“I am interested in Abbie and would make the effort to get a grasp of her surrounding. Hence, I came to know you as you are Abbie’s best friend,” Thomas replied with a smile.
Abbie was feeling indifferent upon hearing about it. On the other hand, Valeria was shocked and questioned Abbie, “You guys knew each other long ago? Why didn’t you tell me about it?”
“I did not bring this up as we are just acquaintances.” Abbie took a sip of coffee whereas Valeria continued to chat with Thomas. Valeria was not sure why but she felt that Thomas was much better than Michael.
It would be better for Abbie to be with Thomas instead of Michael. This was because Thomas did not have a complicated family background compared to Michael.
Valeria decided to get down to business and bombarded Thomas with different sets of questions. He did not disappoint and replied appropriately with a polite tone.
There was no sight of Thomas being a playboy and his answers had shown that he was an intelligent and rational man. Valeria was increasingly satisfied with him being Abbie’s potential boyfriend.
“Abbie, how about I invite my husband over to have a meal together?”
William’s voice emerged behind them before Abbie could give a reply, “Sweetheart, I’m here.”
