Gavin clearly knew why Raelyn had chosen to call him at this hour. Valeria sneered and asked, “Grandpa, aren’t you intending to answer her call?”
“Nope! I have been ignoring her calls for quite some time,” Gavin answered with a sullen expression on his face.
“How about picking up her call this time? I would like to know what she ought to say.”
Gavin eventually agreed and answered the phone call. Raelyn’s sobbing voice was heard as soon as the phone was being connected, “Dad! You have finally chosen to answer my call.”
“Just cut to the chase,” Gavin replied coldly.
“Dad, have you seen the news? Natasya… Natasya would be living in hell from now on!” Raelyn replied while crying and her acting was relatively good.
“What did you say? Who should be blamed then? She is a shameless person who likes to cause trouble for herself,” Gavin raised his voice and scolded angrily.
“Dad, you have wronged Natasya! She did catch feelings for William last time but that was all in the past. She would not cause any trouble and cross the line. After all, Valeria is her cousin and she is currently pregnant.”
“Really? Care to explain about the incident that happened tonight then?” Gavin sneered and asked.
“Someone has lied to Natasya! She received a message as an invitation to William’s birthday party and she went there without thinking twice. We did not expect things to turn out this way. William is being too cruel. Why would he go all out even if Natasya is at fault and we are all a family?”
Raelyn complained tearfully while throwing William under the bus. “He arranged a beggar to mess things up and humiliated Natasya. My beloved and well-mannered daughter was being harassed and stripped naked in the public. How could she not be frowned upon in the future?”
Gavin was feeling troubled upon recalling the incident that happened in the garden just now. It would be impossible for Natasya to turn things around. He felt sad at the thought of her being a good child and an intelligent granddaughter. His expectation towards her had been shattered into pieces.
Gavin decided to not give in and questioned, “What are you trying to tell me? Isn’t she the one who brought this upon herself?”
“Dad, I know Natasya is at fault as she should not have fallen in love with William. She is in the wrong for being unable to control her feelings despite being aware of Valeria and William’s relationship. However, it is understandable as William is so good-looking and is the man of every woman’s dream. Natasya was at crossroads but William had crossed the line. He has caused humiliation upon the Saunders family aside from bringing Natasya down. After all, I’m your daughter, and Natasya is your granddaughter, right?”
Raelyn was undeniably one who had a knack for persuading others. She sobbed and told her story while pushing the blame onto William. She had put on a good act and successfully made Gavin step into her shoes.
Gavin would have been convinced if it wasn’t for Valeria who told him about the blood vermin that Natasya had used to win William over. He would have resent William for being such a cold-blooded person.
He sneered and questioned further, “Are you telling me that William had sat back and done nothing while Natasya attempted to poison him with the vermin?”
“Hmm? What vermin? Dad, what are you talking about?” Raelyn pretended to have no idea about it.
“Stop pretending as I am well aware of everything that you have done and you are indeed one of a kind. You have married a worthless piece of shit and learned dirty tricks from him. You have done such an outrageous thing and even want me to take pity on you. Why on earth should I believe what you say?”
Raelyn was still defending herself and said, “Dad, we are innocent as we have been wronged. Do not believe them as they are not telling you the truth…”
Gavin interrupted her and raised his voice, “Are you telling me to take your side instead? Although they are both my granddaughters, I would not be foolish enough to help Natasya in messing around with Valeria, who is the granddaughter of the Saunders family!”
“Dad!”
“Alright, that’s enough. I have told you a long time ago that you don’t belong to the Saunders family. This is the last time that I will answer your phone and do not call me again in the future!”
Gavin then ended the call and Raelyn was so pissed that she threw her phone away. “That bastard has always been biased. He only gave me a little dowry and was partial towards Archer. He has once again chosen to take side with Archer’s daughter and intends to turn a blind eye on me.”
Natasya did not lose her cool despite seeing Raelyn’s exasperated look. “Mom, calm down as now is not the time to be pissed off. Grandpa has always been biased and it’s not important if he really is partial to Valeria. We just have to find a way to change his mind.”
“Didn’t you hear what he had just say? He is intending to cut ties with me. What else can we do now?” Raelyn asked while fuming in anger.
“Come up with something to plead for his mercy! Beg on your knees! You are his daughter after all and he would definitely lend us a helping hand upon seeing you in a mess.”
Angel sat in the living room at her house in New York with a sullen look on her face while fiddling with her phone. Deborah came from upstairs and was taken aback by her depressed look.
“Is anything wrong? Didn’t you intend to hang out later? Why are you still here?”
“I’m not in the mood!” Angel answered sulkily.
“Why? Who has gotten on your nerves?” Deborah sat beside her and asked.
“It’s nothing,” Angel was reluctant to talk about her feelings.
“You can always share your thoughts with granny. How could you say that it’s nothing judging by your depressed look? Come on and tell granny about it. I will teach him a lesson!”
“It is my cousin, William! How could he be so cold-hearted?” Angel decided to share her thoughts upon Deborah’s persuasion and continued, “Today is his birthday and I have sent him a birthday text at midnight. However, he didn’t reply to me and I am upset about it!”
“What? William must have been flooded with birthday wishes and he might not have had the time in replying to them. He hasn’t responded back to me, your grandpa, and your dad as well.”
“Grandma, are you lying to me? How could he not revert back to all of you?”
“Of course I’m telling you the truth. Why would I lie to you?”
Angel felt much more at ease and said, “Okay then, I have decided to forgive him! By the way, did you tell grandpa about Valeria? What was his reaction? Did he agree to let Valeria marry William? I don’t think that she is good enough for my cousin.”
“Alright, Angel. It is not good to speak ill of someone behind their backs,” Deborah warned her and frowned.
Angel was feeling slightly uneasy upon receiving an earful from Deborah. She then picked up her phone bitterly and suddenly let out a scream.
