They sat there and joked around with each other. The guests were taken aback by William’s well-mannered behavior when he gathered with Marcus and Richard as he used to be a playboy.
There were not many people in B City who could be good friends with Marcus, the acting president of Wolf Group. William must be one of a kind and was not someone who merely plays around. He was not aware of their thoughts and was not interested in them as well.
Richard, Michael, and Marcus however had felt the bizarre gazes on them. Richard then asked William, “Are you still intending to put on an act? Don’t you want to reveal your identity?”
“What’s the point? Isn’t everything good for now?” William giggled and continued, “I’m free from unnecessary social interaction as there is no one to spark a polite conversation with me. I can have more time in my hands to accompany my wife, right?”
He then reached out to hold Valeria’s waist with a gentle look on his face. Richard and Michael smacked their lips and had an annoyed look on their faces.
“William is such a vicious man as he is planning to use Marcus for the rest of his life!” Michael had a wry smile on his face and said, “Marcus, you shall seize the opportunity. Threaten him that you would resign if he doesn’t give you a raise and extra benefits.”
“I dare not to!” Marcus chuckled and continued, “Mr. Clark and Michael, please don’t throw me under the bus. I would not want to have a hard time working in this company!”
Valeria burst into laughter upon seeing the troubled look on Marcus’ face. William glanced around the hall and locked his eyes on Gavin. “Honey, your grandfather seems to be moody. How about you go over and comfort him? You can tell him what exactly happened today.”
Valeria nodded and stood up, “Alright, I shall head over now!”
Gavin was feeling relatively depressed as Natasya had caused trouble.
He might have left if it wasn’t for the celebration of William’s birthday. He forced himself to linger around the party in hopes of not hindering the mood of the party.
Valeria walked over and sat down beside Gavin. “Grandpa! Are you feeling very down now?”
“Yes! I didn’t expect that she would act this way… Although she has brought this upon herself, she is nevertheless still your cousin. We should just let bygones be bygones,” Gavin was true to his feelings.
“Grandpa, I know what you are trying to say but it’s much more complicated than you think. We have no choice but to fight back.”
“Valeria, I know you are a good child and I am well aware that Natasya has gotten a taste of her own medicine. However, I am still feeling somewhat troubled,” Gavin replied and sighed.
“Her parents must be behind this judging by her outrageous behavior which has caused William to make a move on her. I would have been able to persuade her if she came clean to me.”
Gavin hated Natasya for her ruthless and shameless behavior. However, he felt that it was too mean to shatter her reputation into pieces.
Valeria frowned slightly as she despised the Anderson family so much and she could not understand Gavin’s feelings. She would not have comforted him if it weren’t for William.
“Grandpa, it’s not our intention to keep it a secret. You would have hinted to Natasya and she would not have learned her lesson. She is utterly awful if I were to be upfront with you.”
Valeria took a deep breath and continued, “Her first attempt of using the blood vermin to control my husband was a failure. We did give her a chance to repent but she was not feeling guilty about it at all. She had become much worse and tried to use the blood vermin on my husband once again. It would be a foolish thing to turn a blind eye on her shameless behavior!”
Gavin was extremely surprised and questioned, “What? What is the blood vermin all about? How much more did you hide from me?”
Valeria then explained to him about the blood vermin, “Talitha has got Hardy under control whereas Natasya has targeted my husband. It would be a different situation today if it weren’t for my quick-witted husband who knew about her ulterior motive. I would be the one being humiliated at the party tonight! Natasya would be the one who benefits from my misery as she would have won my husband’s heart over. Grandpa, have you changed your mind yet? Do you still take pity on her? What about me then? Don’t you feel bad for both me and the babies in my belly?”
“This is too over the top!” Gavin had initially thought that William and Valeria seek revenge because Natasya had plotted against William last time. He did not expect the Anderson family to act much worse and would do such a thing.
“Their evilness has been deeply planted within themselves. Grandpa, I have always hoped to live in a peaceful family. After all, Raelyn is your daughter, my father’s only sibling, and my aunt. I do not intend to make things complicated if there is a much better solution.”
Valeria sneered upon thinking about the vicious Anderson Family and continued, “Grandpa, neither you nor my father is a cruel person. Why is Raelyn so different from the both of you? Why is she so vicious and does not have a hint of kindness? Is she really one of us?”
Gavin was out of words by her question. There was no need for Valeria to continue persuading as he was finally convinced about it.
“Grandpa, I shall remind you once again that Raelyn is a ruthless person. She has committed all kinds of crimes and she has used your kindness for her benefit. I really think that you should consider the aftermath. By the way, I am sure that the death of my mother-in-law is definitely related to her. Do you recall the news about Declan? Both Raelyn and Devon were behind it and Declan would have been long dead if it weren’t for my husband. Raelyn would not hesitate to get rid of you judging by her cruel behavior towards Declan.”
Gavin’s face was full of shock and he asked, “I didn’t know there were so many things going on. Have I really become old and useless until all of you chose to hide things from me?”
“No, we just don’t want you to worry about it. However, there is no point in keeping a secret from you since things have turned out this way. Raelyn is not as influential as before and my father has chosen to not take her side. You are her last glimmer of hope and she would soon beg you for mercy. Savannah was brave enough to poison Hayden and I am sure that Raelyn would do the same thing as she is much worse than Savannah. Grandpa, you have to be cautious!”
His phone suddenly rang as soon as Valeria was done speaking. He glanced at her with a gloomy face and said, “It’s a call from Raelyn!”
