News on the internet spread at the speed of lighting. Hardy had arranged his men to spread the news of Declan’s death extensively.
He had also arranged for them to accuse William by saying that Declan had died after William had paid him a visit and William was undoubtedly the murderer of Declan.
The news spread like wildfire while William observed the news calmly with a sneer on his face.
Chief Scott was flooded with calls that came from his superiors as well as the media to enquire about the news.
Chief Scott answered according to William’s idea that Declan was still in the hospital to be rescued but the situation was unknown. In contrast, he directly hung up the phone calls made by the media.
Chief Scott turned back and glanced at William with a bitter smile on his face and said, “Sir William, what should we do now? Someone must be trying to throw you under the bus, isn’t it?”
“Yes, you’re right! They came for me but you were also caught in this big mess. Please be rest assured that it will be alright as I will handle it accordingly.”
William playfully threw his phone from his hands a few times and asked, “Have you collected all the surveillance videos?”
“Yes, they have all been extracted out. Mr. William, why do you need this footage? Are you going to find out who was behind it? The lawyer of Declan came to visit him in the morning and he had no other visitors. Was it the lawyer who did this to Declan? Why did he do this?” Chief Scott’s face was full of confusion.
“The lawyer is not out of his mind as he has no motive to do so. However, I do know who did this to him.”
“Who is it?” Chief Scott was curious.
“They say that ignorance is bliss. It will be better for you to not know about it.” William grinned playfully and continued, “You should deal with what I’ve asked you to do accordingly. Devon will be exerting some pressure on you if my prediction is correct.”
William’s words reminded Chief Scott that Devon was an influential man in Ruthorham and had massive connections. His visit would definitely not be a simple task to deal with.
“I’m going to compile the footage first. Sir William, Declan will survive through this, right?” Chief Scott needed a boost of relief.
“Yes, he will! His time has not come yet and he will only be executed during his official death date,” William replied. He knew that Chief Scott was anxious and patted him on the shoulder with a smile. “Don’t worry, I won’t bring any harm to you. I would not be here today if I were to throw you under the bus.”
“I believe in you but I’m just worried about the public opinions and Devon. After all, he is a powerful man as well as the Saunders family…”
William chuckled and said, “The Saunders family is not interested in this matter, hence you should not worry about it. Your main task now is to deal with the higher-ups and Devon. You do know what to do, right?”
“I am confident to deal with Devon as long as Declan is alright!” Chief Scott was relieved when he heard that Declan would survive from it. “His lawyer was the only one who came to see him today and it’s only logical to put all the blame on his lawyer.”
“Alright. There is currently also a ridiculous rumor that accuses me of killing Declan and someone would definitely ask about it later. You do you know how to give the best reply, right?”
“Yes, I do. Don’t worry! I am able to deal with it,” Chief Scott nodded.
William stood up and said, “I’ll make a move first and there should be someone coming to see you soon. Don’t worry about it as I will have your back if something happens!”
He had an aura of calmness and managed to persuade Chief Scott to feel at ease. Chief Scott then said, “Let me send you off!”
William marched out of the detention center as if nothing had happened. He and Bobby saw the reporters who were taking a lot of photos of them as they got in the car.
Bobby’s face was gloomy, “Sir William, what on earth is Hardy planning to do? Why is he making such a big deal when he just trying to set you up?”
“You’re right as he is targeting me this time. He thought that Declan was dead and I was the last person to see him. I would not be able to prove myself innocent if Declan had really died today and Hardy as well as the mysterious man would be able to get rid of me. It was just a matter of seizing the perfect opportunity.”
“What a vicious plan! You were just in time to find out the clues in advance to avoid yourself getting into a big mess!” Bobby was feeling relieved.
“I can humbly say that God adores me so much! It won’t be easy to get rid of me.” William scoffed and continued, “We shall just sit back and watch them put on an act. It would be better if things were blown out of proportion.”
The news of Declan’s death was a hot topic on the internet. Hardy had spent a fortune deliberately making Declan’s death into the headlines of all the major websites and forums.
He had also hired someone to publish some articles that analyzed the cause of Declan’s death and eventually pointed fingers towards William.
It was stated that William had decided to murder Declan due to some unknown reason.
Valeria was shocked when she saw the news and immediately gave William a call. His ringtone was heard by the door and he had coincidentally come back with Bobby.
“Honey, what on earth is happening? Why was Declan gone all of a sudden? Why is his death related to you? They framed you, right?”
Valeria kept asking questions while William smiled and invited her to have a seat. “Sweetheart, calm down. Declan is not dead and they would not succeed in attempting to set me up.”
Valeria let out a sigh of relief upon hearing his explanation, “I was scared out of my wits!”
The calls from Archer, Richard, Hayden, and Michael, came in one after another. They were all asking about the hot topic that had emerged on the internet.
William replied casually, “It’s fine. I’m just playing games with them and was expecting this since the beginning!”
Richard and Michael were persuaded and let out a sigh of relief. They had been friends for many years and William meant it if he was really doing fine.
However, Archer and Hayden were concerned and kept asking whether it was better to hire someone to let the hot topic subside and make arrangements to find some clues about it.
He thought about it for a moment and did not refuse their ideas. The mysterious man definitely had other tricks up his sleeve if he was keeping an eye on William. The man would eventually reveal his trump card if he thought that it was game over for William.
Archer and Hayden began to put on an act and arrange their men to suppress the incident and made necessary connections to dig up some dirt.
Declan was sent to the emergency room. However, a corpse covered with a white cloth was pushed to the morgue two hours later from the rescue plan.
