Valeria cupped her cheek and stared at William while he ended the call. William reached out and caressed her head, “Why are you staring at me like that?”
“Honey, how could you lie through your teeth so naturally?” Valeria asked.
“I have to make it believable. We have agreed on this, right?” William explained with a smile as she was started to feel dissatisfied again.
“That b*tch says that she misses you. I am so pissed that I would like to give her a slap!” Valeria realized that she was a tad bit controlling.
“Honey, would you confess that you like her just to put on a good act? I don’t have a good feeling about this. You would be playing with fire if you dare to say that you have feelings for her!”
“How could I be foolish enough to be interested in her? Please calm down and I’ll take you to have something delicious. I have told Marcus to inform the kitchen to prepare a bird’s nest for you.”
“I don’t want to. Your father has been informing the servant to prepare it for me every day. I’m sick of it.” Valeria shook his head.
“Be a good girl, okay? Bird’s nest is good for babies. You don’t want to have a tanned little girl, do you? For the sake of our babies, bear with it for a little longer, okay?”
Valeria couldn’t help laughing, “Where did you find out that bird’s nests are good for expecting women? Besides, who told you that our twins would be girls? Your dad has been hoping the opposite instead.”
“I don’t care, but it would do no harm to you. You would have known that I’m hoping that the twins are girls. However, having a son is my dad’s cup of tea. My dad would not be pressuring you to be pregnant for the second time if we have a pair of fraternal twins, right?”
Valeria nodded and agreed, “You’re right, but what if both of them are boys? Will you force me to get pregnant with a baby girl then?”
William frowned and thought for a moment. “Well, honey, could you promise me that then? We need a lovely princess in this family.”
“Why can’t I be the princess instead?”
“You are my queen and I will spoil you for the rest of my life. However, no other love in the world is like the love a father has for his little girl. It would be a blessing to witness my daughter’s growth journey.”
Valeria felt a hint of jealousy but it soon disappeared into thin air.
The hotel waiter served them bird’s nest and Valeria consumed it under William’s watch.
William then took her to the rooftop to enjoy the scenery. As they took a walk around the rooftop, Marcus then called. “Mr. Howard, Gonzalec has already been set free and he has returned to his home.”
“Wow, Devon is quick on his feet.” William snorted and continued, “Lucian would soon make a move, won’t she?”
“You’re right. Lucian had arranged for someone to extend her regards to Gonzalec by sending over some food. It seems that Lucian cares very much about Gonzalec.”
“Of course, she is all alone now and doesn’t have anyone else on her side. She needs to get on his good side to benefit her in the future.” William then asked Marcus, “Have you done everything that I have told you to?”
“Yes, and all we have to do now is to sit back and enjoy the show.”
William chuckled and said, “I shall be expecting something pleasing from you then!”
Gonzalec took a taxi home after he was released from the detention center. His parents, wife, and children were waiting for him at home.
The family members were overjoyed upon seeing him and surrounded him. He had to come out with lies to answer his family’s questions.
The doorbell then rang and Gonzalec’s mother opened the door. Bruno, a man with furtive eyes had brought some gifts to visit Gonzalec. He smiled like a fool when he saw Gonzalec, “Bro, welcome back!”
“Have a seat!” Gonzalec invited Bruno to sit and Bruno then left the gifts on the tea table.
“Lucian had asked me to bring this to you and is worried sick about you. She had gone through a great hassle to get you out. However, she can’t come to see you as it is currently a sensitive period for her. Hence, I brought some fine wine for you, a few snacks for your little kid, supplements for your wife and your mother. She had also hope that you would rest well and relax for a bit.”
Gonzalec pretended to be grateful but he was dissatisfied that Lucian was treating him lightly. How could she arranged for someone like Bruno to visit him?
“Was she dissatisfied with what I have done? Was she reminding me that I’m not as irreplaceable as I think I am?” He thought to himself.
Gonzalec was unhappy and treated Bruno coldly. Bruno also did not stay for long and left briefly after chatting with him for a while.
Gonzalec was in a very bad mood and lit up a cigarette furiously. When his son saw the snacks that were bought by Bruno, he then opened the gift basket excitedly.
The little kid began devouring the snack after opening up the food package. Gonzalec was not paying attention and continued to have his cigarette while being lost in his thoughts.
Should he tell Lucian about the threatening message by William’s men? If he spilled the beans, William would not let him off the hook. However, if he kept his mouth shut, he would feel guilty as Lucian had been treating him well throughout these years.
When he was in a dilemma, a loud bang suddenly emerged. He turned and his son was seen lying on the ground and had foams in his mouth.
Gonzalec was scared out of his wits and he immediately rushed to the hospital with his son in his arms.
Fortunately, the hospital was nearby and he had sent his son over timely. The little kid was successfully rescued and the doctor reported that his son had suffered from food poisoning.
Gonzalec shuddered in fear as he recalled that his son had just consumed the snacks that were gifted by Lucian. Was there anything fishy in those snacks?
“If that is the case, does it mean that Lucian is planning to make a move on me?” Gonzalec thought to himself.
He did not believe that Lucian would do harm to him. However, there was no knowing what was in a man’s heart.
Lucian did mess with Natalie despite she was helpful and friendly towards Lucian. How would Lucian hesitate to get rid of Gonzalec, her follower?
Gonzalec felt increasingly uncomfortable and decided to figure things out. He had informed his wife and mother to keep an eye on his son who was already in a stable condition. He then rushed back home to send the snacks for testing and was shocked by the result.
The cigarette and wine were contaminated with a deadly poison. Lucian was indeed trying to get rid of him!
This had proven that Lucian would be trying her luck again in the future. However, Gonzalec was not planning to sit back and be ready to be faced with death.
He needed to find someone with a big influence, and William could probably help him out.
Gonzalec did not hesitate and gave Silas a call.
Silas only came to the hospital in the evening to visit Gonzalec. He was still on his high horse and spoken with a tone that was as cold as ice.
“We will help you out on the grounds that you need to be a capable person. Besides, you need to show your loyalty as Sir William is not a fan of someone who switches sides easily. You have to do everything according to instructions and without questioning the intention behind it!”
Gonzalec swallowed his pride and said, “As long as my family is safe, I will do whatever you want me to do. Besides, I can tell you everything that I know, including the dirt I have on Lucian.”
