Marcus had arranged for his men to follow Talitha as she rushed to the hospital. The hospital was ready for action and was expecting her. She came with her head low while wearing a mask and told the medical personnel nervously about her decision.
She was still feeling a bit hesitant as she was worried that she would be exposed. However, the medical personnel was kind towards her and did not ask about her details at all.
Talitha was able to enjoy VIP service at the hospital. She was feeling relaxed during the entire IVF process and operation.
Raelyn came back to the Saunders’ home but Gavin, Archer, and Raymond were nowhere to be found.
Raelyn brought over some imported fruits and informed the servant to prepare and bring them to the living room. She then asked, “Is my dad at home?”
“No, Mr. Saunders went out to run some errands. Mrs. Saunders is the only one at home.”
Raelyn knew that Mrs. Saunders was referring to Natalie. She frowned slightly and asked, “Is Raymond not at home as well?”
“No, Raymond headed out to the company with President Saunders to learn about business management.”
“Is that so?” Raelyn was a little disappointed. She definitely would not have stopped by if she knew that Natalie was the only one at home.
The reason she came was to get William’s phone number as requested by Natasya. Raelyn was really not a fan of Natalie, however, it would be awkward if she left the house without greeting Natalie. She then composed herself and marched towards the living room.
Natalie came down from the top floor as she heard noises from the hallway. She then smiled at Raelyn and said, “Raelyn, welcome back!”
Raelyn felt jealous and irritated when she saw Natalie with a face that did not age.
She nodded and said, “I came to visit dad. Where’s he?”
“Dad took Oreo and Mocha for a walk,” Natalie informed the servants to get Raelyn a cup of tea. She looked at Raelyn and said, “You seem to have aged despite not seeing you for just a few days. You used to be gorgeous, but now you look like a woman in her fifties.”
Natalie commented on her looks nonchalantly. “What was she trying to do by judging my appearance?” Raelyn thought to herself and was feeling furious. She laughed sarcastically and said, “I seem to be tired because I have a huge burden due to family matters. Unlike you, who can always sit back and do nothing when my brother would clean up troubles for you.”
“I wanted to help but got refused by Archer. He told me to just relax and enjoy life as his wife. There is a saying that a woman’s appearance would indicate whether she is in a happy marriage or not. In order to fulfill his wishes, I had to follow his orders.”
Natalie was being sarcastic and pretended to look concerned. “Raelyn, stop trying too hard. Just leave everything to your husband as he is a capable man. You would age quicker if you wear yourself out. You’ll then be at a disadvantageous point if your husband lacks interest in you and decides to have a young mistress instead.”
Natalie’s words were as sharp as swords. Raelyn was full of anger but barely managed to calm down. “Devon is not that kind of person.”
“Well, it’s hard to say as you can’t judge a book by its cover. One may look like a gentleman, but could have a bad intention and lousy behavior.”
Raelyn was on the verge of exploding with anger and she had to change their conversation topic. “Is Valeria doing fine?”
“Yes, she is,” Natalie smiled and continued, “I went to see her today and she is recovering well. Besides, she will be discharged from the hospital within these few days.”
Raelyn was brewing with dissatisfaction when she saw Natalie grinning at her. Raelyn then tried to steer away from the conversation, “How are things between Valeria and William now? Are they still together?”
“Of course! Why wouldn’t they?” Natalie’s smile was brighter than before as she continued, “Valeria is a beautiful woman while William is a charming man, and they are truly a match made in heaven. I have discussed with your brother that we will have a wedding ceremony for them after Valeria is discharged.”
Raelyn almost sprung up in shock about the wedding and said, “I’m just afraid that Hayden won’t agree.”
“Nah, it doesn’t matter as long as William is cool about it. We shall strike while the iron is hot!”
Raelyn was increasingly enraged as she listened to the wedding plan. William had lost his memories, right? He would have suffered a headache upon hearing Valeria’s name, right? Why was Natalie feeling so optimistic about it?
Raelyn then finally asked, “Didn’t William had lost his memory? How could he remember Valeria?”
“Yes, you’re right about the memory loss. He would also have a headache if he hears her name. We then had no choice but to change Valeria’s name. However, they are destined to be together. He would feel cheerful when he sees her photos although he has no memory of her.” Natalie took her phone out and continued, “This is the photo of them being together. Aren’t they lovely?”
The photo was them hugging each other and it made Raelyn feeling sick and annoyed.
Natalie smiled and handed the phone to Raelyn. “I deliberately took a lot of photos on that day. Oops, I suddenly feel like going to the bathroom. Enjoy the pictures!”
Natalie then headed to the bathroom without giving much thought about it. Raelyn was not interested in the pictures, but she was desperate to obtain William’s phone number.
This was a great opportunity as Natalie had lowered her guard against her. Raelyn swiftly launched the contact list and jotted down William’s number as soon as she had her eyes on it.
Raelyn needed to leave after she had achieved her mission. She then came up with an excuse to leave after Natalie had come out from the bathroom.
Natalie played dumb and sent Raelyn out. After she had watched Raelyn’s car drove away, she turned around with a sneer on her face.
In the hospital, ten hours had passed since William took the antidote. He did not feel anything different but Valeria was still feeling anxious. She kept her eyes on William all the time and refused to take a nap.
She always checked up on William within every few minutes. “Honey, do you remember me? Honey, are you feeling alright?”
William then repeatedly shook his head and said, “No I don’t. And yes, I’m feeling fine.”
Valeria was anxious but gradually felt disappointed when she had checked up on William throughout the entire day. She sighed, “This antidote is useless. Gonzalec must have lied to SIlas. D*mn it!”
She cursed angrily but then breathed a sigh of relief. “Fortunately, the antidote is not poisonous. Otherwise, it would unthinkable!”
William laughed as she was being silly and said, “Honey, it’s getting late. You haven’t had a good rest during the day and you must be tired now. Go to bed!”
“Okay,” Valeria yawned and William tucked her in. She asked him the same thing for one last time before calling it a day, “Honey, do you remember me? Are you feeling alright?”
“No, and yes! Go to sleep, okay? I might be able to remember everything when you wake up from bed tomorrow.”
Valeria was so tired that she fell asleep in William’s arms as soon as she closed her eyes.
However, William had trouble going to dreamland. Could this antidote really be ineffective?
Otherwise, why hadn’t he felt anything different at all?
As he thought about it, he suddenly felt a subtle pain in his chest.
