William wanted to laugh as he saw Valeria’s conflicted expression as she frowned her brows.
She had been looking forward to this day. However, she was now afraid that the antidote might be poisonous. William squinted his eyes and said, “It doesn’t matter, I’ll have a go since I have a fifty percent chance of survival rate, right?”
He then reached for the antidote but Valeria hurriedly stopped him, “No, I want to be a hundred percent sure of it. I will only let you have it when it is fully safe to consume.”
“But, my headache is sucking the soul out of me!” William put on a painful look.
“No, let me think carefully about it.”
Silas and Bobby looked at each other and thought to themselves, Mr. Howard is too cheeky, why is he still teasing her?
Silas decided to comfort her, “Ms. Brown, the medicine is not poisonous, don’t worry about it.”
“How are you so sure about it? What if Gonzalec’s grandfather lied to you?”
“You have to believe me!”
“I still need time to think about it! This isn’t a small matter and we must be very careful about it!” Valeria said as she picked up the phone to ask Hayden for his advice.
William burst into laughter, “Alright, cut it out! There’s no poison in the medicine! Just let me have it now!”
Valeria was increasingly anxious and refused to give the antidote to William, he persuaded her and finally got his hands on it. The medicine smelt strange and he took a big mouthful of water before swallowing the antidote.
Valeria looked at him worriedly, “Hubby, are you feeling alright? Do tell us if you feel that something is off.”
“I’m fine, don’t worry about it,” William didn’t dare to tease Valeria further. He patted her head and said, “Let’s take a walk!”
“It’s better if we don’t, how about you lie down for a while?”
“I’m really feeling alright! Don’t worry!”
“Just stay here as I’m still worried about you. It’s also better to call the doctor on standby just in case anything happens.”
William was dumbfounded and should not have joked around if he knew that she would over-react.
Silas was feeling tired as he had traveled a long way to get the antidote. William asked Bobby to take Silas for a ride back home and the pair left. William was going to give Marcus a call to ask about Gonzalec’s situation.
Marcus suddenly came in and asked William about the antidote. He breathed a sigh of relief after knowing that William had consumed it, “Mr. Howard, how are you feeling?”
“I don’t feel a thing!” William shook his head.
“How long has it been since you had taken it?”
“Just half an hour ago.”
“How could you not have felt anything? Could it be that the antidote isn’t effective?” Marcus was a little worried.
“How could the effect take place so rapidly? It would slowly process as it digests, right? Let’s wait and see.” William was calm and asked, “Do you have something to discuss with me?”
“Yes, I had pulled some strings when I sent Gonzalec back to the detention center. Devon’s entrusted personnel had made a move and Gonzalec will walk freely by tomorrow if everything goes according to plan.”
William nodded with satisfaction and asked, “Have you done the things that I have told you to?”
“Yes!” Marcus nodded with a smile and continued, “Mr. Howard, I would like to tell you something about Talitha. We have received information from our men that Talitha had disguised herself and went out to get a pregnancy kit.”
“What else did she do?” William asked.
“Nothing else. She went back to her room after buying the kit and never came out since then. However, we do not know whether she is pregnant or not.”
“She’s not pregnant!” William replied confidently and continued, “Talitha is now determined to tie herself with Hardy. She would immediately notify Hardy if she’s pregnant to get him to admit their relationship. Seeing that she has not set foot out from the hotel, it is evident that she is not pregnant.”
“I see. I thought that she was pregnant and would surprise Hardy with it. Looks like the show has come to an end.”
Marcus was disappointed, but William was feeling optimistic. “Who says so? If Talitha is dying to have a child with Hardy, let’s help her out then!”
“How?” Marcus asked.
“Arrange someone to Talitha’s place and persuade her indirectly. The hospital is able to help her if she agrees. She would then have her wish come true!”
Valeria knew that William was about to pull a dirty trick again and she sighed, “Hubby, how could you be so mean?”
“Honey, I’m not. Instead, I’m doing Talitha a favor. Your husband has a big heart, right?”
“Pfft!” Valeria snorted.
“Anthony is an eyesore and I need him to have a taste of his own medicine after what he had done to me. He’ll be in a deep mess soon! I’m confident that Talitha would do a great job!”
Talitha was feeling blue ever since yesterday when she found out that she was not pregnant. She called Hardy again at night, but it still did not go through.
Talitha then decided to phone Paisley as she had run out of ideas. However, she did not answer the call as well. What was going on?
Could it be that Hardy was avoiding her?
Talitha was progressively anxious as she had no way to get ahold of Hardy. She had no hope of turning the table as Raelyn, Devon, and Gavin had turned a blind eye and ignored her.
Talitha was feeling unsettled and did not have the appetite to have her breakfast. Instead, she paced around restlessly in the room.
Talitha suddenly heard a voice that emerged outside of her room. “Hey, since you’re an item with him, you can always head down to the fertility center and have a test tube baby. You can then claim that it was his and would be able to tie him down, right?”
“Is this plan feasible?”
“Of course! Your intention is to marry him and the pregnancy is your only hope, isn’t it?”
“I’m just worried that…”
“Don’t be worried! You had only been with him, right? He can’t find anything fishy about it and this should be done as soon as possible. Let’s head down to the hospital right away.”
The two mysterious women then left. Talitha did not expect that someone was also in her shoes.
One of them must have fallen in love with her man but the feeling was not mutual. The woman must have felt anxious as the man might be running away from her.
This was very similar to the situation that she was currently in. They discussed an IVF procedure and the woman could obtain her throne by getting pregnant.
Talitha finally came up with an idea after she overheard the conversation between the two women.
She also thought that it was a good idea to have a test tube baby to tie Hardy down.
After all, the only man that she had slept with was Hardy. He would not have suspected her if she was pregnant. She then planned to get rid of the baby after they had married.
Talitha was increasingly confident and happy about this idea. She needed to get it done as soon as possible to avoid missing the perfect timing. Talitha packed and disguised herself as she then rushed to the hospital.
