The atmosphere soon turned as cold as ice. “Didn’t he lose his memory? Why is he here then?” Declan thought to himself.
Declan composed himself and questioned, “What are you doing here?”
“Isn’t it obvious that I am paying you a visit?” William marched into the cell while staring down at Declan.
Declan was feeling uncomfortable with the terrifying aura that William had possessed.
“What do you want from me?”
“Your brother’s lawyer paid you a visit and you were being told that you will be set free soon, am I right?” William sneered and continued, “You must have been looking forward to that day, aren’t you?”
Declan was feeling suffocated by his words. He was very intimidated by William as he was the one that made him ended up in jail.
He had never once expected that William would be paying him a visit in a fine and healthy condition.
It did not seem like William was suffering from a memory loss. Declan questioned nervously, “Didn’t you forget the past?”
“Would you want to take a guess?” William asked coldly.
“Their plan has failed! What the hell? They actually thought they have won the game! They have made a fool out of themselves! William is really an intimidating man!” Declan murmured to himself.
“I am well aware that I do not stand any chance against you! I do also know that you’re not here to merely boast about your victory. What do you want from me?”
“I’m here to have a chat about your daughter.” William prolonged his tone before he continued, “I’m curious to know how Talitha would feel if she gets to know that you’re her biological father. Besides, how would Raelyn react if she finds out that both you and your brother had made her into a joke?”
Declan’s eyes were filled with disbelief. How did William come to know such an exclusive secret? Declan thought to himself.
He was sure that only his brother knew about it. They had also promised each other to bring this secret into the grave with them.
William must have checked things through as he was willing to show up in the detention center to meet with him. Declan took a few steps back and crumbled onto the bed, “What on earth are you? You’re too… terrifying!”
A wider smile had crept through William’s face upon seeing his reaction and said, “I have to say, you brothers are excellent in doing illegitimate stuff. What do you think would happen if the whole world knows about it?”
Declan’s heart was filled with fear and questioned, “But… we have no bad blood. Why are you targeting me instead?”
“Are you sure? Have you forgotten what you have done to my wife? Why would you not think the same when you got your hands dirty on so many innocent people? Don’t you know how many lives you have ruined with that illegitimate business of yours?”
Declan’s face was as pale as a ghost and said, “I know I am a sinner and I should pay for what I have done. However, my actions have nothing to do with my brother and sister-in-law. Why would you want to drag them into this mess?”
“What? I’m sure that you are aware of what they have done to me, right? Aren’t you currently waiting to submit your appeal?” William chuckled mockingly and continued, “They must have told you that they have got me under control and you would soon be a free man, right?”
“I… I…” Declan knew he was at a disadvantage point and begged, “Would you let them off the hook should I give up on submitting an appeal?”
“Do you think that I am open for negotiation?” William’s scornful gaze had made Declan feel ashamed of himself. He was well aware that he did not have any right to make a deal with William.
Declan knew that he did not stand any chance against him. He cut straight to the chase and asked, “You are here for other reasons instead of making fun of me, right?”
“You are absolutely right!”
Declan’s heart was ignited with hope and he said, “Alright then, I will satisfy your desire as long as it is within my capability.”
“That’s good to hear. I have decided to not lay a finger on your daughter for being a flexible man,” William replied casually.
“However, you need to satisfy my condition, otherwise…”
“What exactly do you want?”
“I want the formula of creating the vermin as well as the antidote to cure it!”
Declan was not expecting this and asked with a surprised look on his face, “Why would you be interested in that?”
“I do not plan to tell you what I am going to do with it. You just have to make up your mind!”
Devon sighed and explained, “The formula of the antidote was not passed down successfully. I only managed to purchase the last few vermins and it cost a fortune. No one could get their hands on the antidote as it is now nowhere to be found.”
William squinted at him and remained silent. Declan continued to explain things further as he knew that Willaim was not convinced, “I’m telling you the truth. There is no longer any vermin left. It is not possible to obtain an antidote for it as the vermin was purchased to gain control of others.”
William squinted his eyes and his gaze has made the atmosphere to be increasingly intense. Declan shuddered and said, “However, I can tell you the details of the seller. He might have some idea about it!”
William still did not speak whereas beads of sweat has emerged on Declan’s forehead. “I’m not deceiving you and you have to believe me, please? I have no benefit from lying to you as I am already in this state.”
“Alright, tell me about it then,” William finally spoke.
“I… I would reveal it to you. But, you have to keep your word and leave my daughter alone!”
“That depends on you then. I would keep my promise as long as I got ahold of the seller. You would know the consequence you ought to face as you should be well aware that I am sick of dishonest people.”
William continued in a casual tone, “It’s fine if you choose to keep it to yourself. I can use the antidote to get rid of my enemy. However, I can always come up with something else if the antidote is unobtainable.”
Declan knew what he meant and had no choice but to fulfill his condition. He wiped the sweat off his head and agreed, “Okay, I’ll tell you!”
Valeria had been feeling unease ever since William had gone out despite Bobby had also followed him along. She paced around anxiously in the hospital ward.
The servant knew that Valeria was worried about him and tried to comfort her, “Madam Valeria, don’t worry about it. Sir William will be fine.”
Valeria sighed and said, “I can’t help it. Hardy is a vicious man and we do not know when would he strike again.”
“Mr. William had fallen into his trap in order to save your life and it will never happen again. Don’t worry, Sir William will come back safely soon.”
Abbie suddenly came to visit her as they were still speaking. She raised her voice before entering the ward, “Valeria! Valeria!”
