Chapter 617 Lost His Temper

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Natasya was still unconscious on the hospital bed. Devon and Raelyn were accompanying her in the ward as they waited anxiously.
“Is there something wrong with her? It’s been five hours and she has yet to wake up. Let’s ask a doctor about it,” Raelyn suggested.
Devon informed his secretary to make the necessary arrangement. The doctor came over and told them to wait for a little longer as it was not something alarming.
The couple had no choice but to continue waiting in the hospital.
They then decided to bring up the topic of Declan and discussed,  “I have found someone to pull some strings and managed to get a lawyer for the preparation of an appeal. He would get a lighter punishment if everything goes according to plan.”
“Really?” Raelyn asked with a surprised look on her face.
“Yes, but the plan can only work if there was no one getting in our way. Your father and brother would not mess things up, right?” Devon asked.
“I’ll persuade my dad, whereas my brother would choose to ignore me. Don’t worry about it, I’ll ask my dad to assist me. I don’t think my brother intends to see Declan suffer as they do not have bad blood with each other.” Raelyn promised.
“That’s good to hear. I’m most worried about the Howard family. Hayden knew that we were the ones that framed William despite there is no evidence to prove us as the culprit. He would not sit back and watch us commencing the plan of saving Declan’s life. Natasya did not manage to get him under control and I’m now afraid that the Howard family will mess things up. We have to think of a way.”
“Have you come up with something?” Raelyn asked.
“William would experience a severe headache upon hearing Valeria’s name and we need to take advantage of his weakness. I do have another way but it would only work if it was done by Natasya.”
“Really? Spill the beans then.” Raelyn was feeling a little impatient. Devon wanted to reveal his suggestion but suddenly got up and proceeded to check on the door. Talitha was caught redhanded as she was suspiciously standing by the door.
Talitha was a thick-skinned woman as she was not embarrassed at all upon being caught, “Dad, I am here to visit my sister. Is she still not awake yet?”
“Nope.” Devon frowned and questioned, “You can always come in to have a look at her yourself. Why would you stand by the door and do nothing?”
“I just arrived and wanted to open the door before you were one step ahead of me,” Talitha lied through her teeth.
Devon knew that she was being dishonest but decided to let her off the hook as Talitha was also aware of Declan’s condition. “Come on in.”
Talitha came in and greeted Raelyn as she walked towards the bed and glanced at Natasya. She stopped by for a while and eventually left shortly.
Marcus had released the news of William being hospitalized after returning home shortly and it successfully made into the headline.
Paisley was feeling perplexed upon reading the news. She had tried her luck to meet with William when she heard that he was residing in Wolf Group’s hotel. However, she was eventually met with disappointment.
She did not give up and rushed to the hospital immediately whereby Hayden had arranged for William to undergo his amnesia treatment.
She was once again unsuccessful in her attempt to find William in hopes to obtain his newest updates. The Howard family had made a deal with the hospital and they have been remaining silent about William’s condition. Paisley had no choice but to drive back home displeasedly.
She suddenly received a phone call from Talitha on her way back home, “Paisley, let’s have dinner tonight. Invite Hardy over as well.”
“What? He has no time as he is busy with work nowadays,” Paisley immediately refused. Hardy had been feeling regretful ever since he seduced Talitha to obtain some information from her. Paisley was sure that he would be reluctant to meet up with Talitha.
“I have some exclusive information to tell the both of you. Are you sure you are not interested in it?” Talitha was not ready to give up yet and immediately utilized her trump card.
“What is it about?” Paisley asked as she was feeling curious.
“It’s a secret regarding my sister and William. I have overheard from my parents when they were discussing things in the hospital ward,” Talitha replied in a serious tone.
Paisley had sparked interest in it and replied, “I’ll ask my brother about it and tell you about his decision as soon as possible.”
Paisley immediately called Hardy as soon as she ended the conversation with Talitha. She tried calling him a few times but he did not answer them. She had no choice but to drive to his company to get ahold of him.
Hardy was giving an earful towards his secretary at his office at Acma Corporation. Bevan, the senior assistant, rushed in and signaled the secretary to leave upon seeing Hardy being upset.
The secretary closed the door and left with a relieved look on her face. Hardy sat down furiously and said, “A bunch of idiots, they have been making mistakes everywhere. I really wish to sack them all!”
“Mr. Anthony, please calm down.” Bevan carefully served Hardy a cup of tea and offered, “Do have some beverage to replenish yourself.”
Hardy was not in the mood to enjoy his tea. He knew that something has happened judging by the look on Bevan’s face. He placed his teacup down and asked, “Do you ought to tell me something?”
“I just received news that Hayden met William and sent him to the hospital shortly after their reunion. He intends to cure his amnesia.”
“Haha!” Hardy sneered and said, “What? Have they gone bonkers? Do they possibly think that his memory loss can be cured?”
“Mr. Anthony, is he suffering from permanent amnesia or it’s just a temporary effect? You don’t have to worry about anything if it’s the former as it would signify an opportunity for you to strike back. However, you would have to act swiftly if it’s the latter before he recovers from it,” Bevan reminded him.
“Natasya was the one who made him this way. Who knows whether it will be a permanent condition or not?” Hardy frowned as he initially wanted to get rid of Natasya but his plan needed to be postponed for now.
“Natasya, that b*tch, has ruined my plan. I wanted to tear her into pieces but it seems that now is yet the time for her to experience hell. Her death would put me at a disadvantageous point for now.”
“Natasya has survived through the critical period and it seems that she would be fine. However, the quick-witted Devon and Raelyn would be well aware that you were behind this. They are a pain in the a*s, and what would you do if they turn their backs against you?”
“It’s fine. They do not dare to lay a finger on me as they are currently in a hot mess as well. Their only way out is to team up with me in hopes to turn things around.” Hardy did not view them as a potential threat at all.
“You have a point, but it’s always wise to be cautious. How about asking Talitha with regards to her sister’s situation?”
Hardy was feeling agitated as he had lost his temper. “Do not f*cking mention her name in front of me!”
Bevan was taken aback by his reaction, as he had no idea that Hardy had sacrificed himself to reap some benefits from Talitha. He wanted to suggest that Paisley can visit Talitha to have a chat. However, he swiftly remained silent to prevent from upsetting Hardy further.
Bevan eventually left the president’s office while feeling confused about Hardy’s bizarre reaction. He shut the door and turned around while realizing that Paisley was seen to step out from the elevator to find Hardy.
