William was lost in thought while Deborah had come in again and brought him a plate of fruits. She then said, “I’ve already booked the ticket. William, you should inform Miss Anderson about it.”
“Don’t worry about it!” William led her to sit down and asked, “Grandma, can I ask you something? Do you know what women like?”
“Women normally fancy flowers, perfumes, or bags.” Deborah paused for a moment and asked, “Are you looking for a gift?”
“Yes.”
“Who are you planning to give it to? Natasya?”
“Nope,” William shook his head.
“Who is it, then?” Deborah was very curious about it.
“I just happen to meet this woman on the internet.”
As long as it was not Natasya! Deborah let out a sigh of relief but was then clouded with concerned thoughts again. William was behaving like he once had before he lost his memory and Deborah was worried about what would happen if he continued to date models and celebrities.
She sighed and said, “William, you’re no longer young and it’s time to get ahold of yourself. Please stop hanging out with indecent and complicated women.”
“I’m not, don’t worry about it. My goal in a relationship from now on is to marry and build a family,” William swiftly replied to her as he knew what she meant.
“That’s good to hear, but meeting your soulmate online seems unreliable. I can introduce someone to you instead. But, what about Miss Anderson?”
“Grandmother, don’t mention her as I am not interested in her at all. Besides, I am sick of her. I have no responsibility towards her as we are not even married.”
Deborah felt relieved upon hearing William’s words as Natasya was the one who was behind William’s amnesia. Deborah knew that she had to be on her toes regardless of whether it was true or not. She was worried at first, but now that she knew William didn’t like Natasya at all, and everything would be easier.
Then, she lowered her voice and said, “William, you have to keep this a secret. Be alert around Natasya, okay? Do tell me when you are interested in someone and I will help you out. Don’t go back to being a playboy anymore, alright?”
“Okay! Grandma, if I were to marry someone, what gift would you give her?”
“I have lots of stuff in store! They were initially meant for your mother. Since she is no longer here anymore, it will all belong to you. However, you have to let me see this wife of yours first. It’d better not be someone complicated!”
“Really? Let me see what you have then!”
Then, Deborah brought William to her room. She opened a safe and took out boxes that were filled with priced jewelry. William took a jade bracelet and weighed it on his hand, but Deborah immediately stopped him and cautioned, “Be careful with it! It’s worth tens of millions.”
“Really?” William put the bracelet back and picked up a diamond necklace instead. It sparkled and the diamond pendant itself was worth a few carats. Wasn’t this the diamond star that was auctioned by the largest auction company in New York a few decades ago?
His eyes lit up and thought that it was a good idea to give this to Val as a gift, so he raised the necklace and said, “This is nice.”
Deborah rolled her eyes at him and said, “Pfft, you only set your eyes on expensive ones. This costs much more than the jade bracelet.”
“These would all be gifted to my wife in the future, right?”
“Yes, that’s right!”
“I shall take this first, then!” As he said this, he placed the diamond necklace in his arms while Deborah anxiously questioned, “What are you doing? Are you going to give it to the woman that you just met online? Why would you give something that is worth billions to a woman whom you’ve never even met in person?”
“No, I’m not giving it to the woman I met online. I’m intending to give to my wife.”
“We will talk about it when you have one. This necklace would be kept safely with me and I’ll give it to your wife in the future.”
“No, that won’t do. Who knows if you’ll go back on your words in the future? Wouldn’t I suffer a loss if that happens?” He then continued confidently, “I’ll take it first and keep it with me. I’ll only give it to my wife after we are married.”
“Silly kid, why would I break my promise?” Deborah smiled helplessly.
“It’s fine, I’ll keep this, and that bracelet as well,” William replied and was acting like a spoiled child as he took another ruby bracelet, but there was nothing Deborah could do about it. William was satisfied and proceeded to give Deborah a peck on the cheek.
“Grandma, you’re the best! I love you so much!”
“Hah! I don’t believe you at all. You love my jewelry instead of me, right?”
“No! Wealth is not everything. I promise you that I would take good care of you in the future.”
“I don’t believe you!” Deborah replied but was feeling warm deep down in her heart.
William had finally settled on Valeria’s gift and walked out of the room happily while locking hands with Deborah. As they walked towards the corridor, they saw that the servants were helping Natasya up the stairs. William was shocked at this and asked, “Why are you back?”
The servant replied, “Miss Anderson insisted on discharging from the hospital upon hearing that you intend to head back home as she was worried about you. I tried persuading her but she didn’t listen.”
William knew exactly what was in Natasya’s mind, but he pretended to be concerned, “Why are you in such a hurry to leave the hospital when you’re not in good shape? Wouldn’t it be better for you to return after you have fully recovered?”
“But I’m worried about you!” Natasya glanced at him affectionately as she thought that he was truly concerned about her. He was disgusted by her reaction and almost puked but managed to compose himself.
“Don’t worry, I am an adult and I can take care of myself. Besides, grandpa has arranged for some men to accompany me home. You look weak and I am worried that something might happen to you on our way back.”
He was a brilliant actor as Natasya was completely convinced that he really cared about her. At this, she replied sweetly, “Nothing bad will happen to me as long as I have you by my side.”
She was getting ahead of herself and had even thought that William would protect her! He had deliberately asked Deborah to amend his flight to avoid Natasya. Hence, as Natasya insisted on heading back with him, William decided to deliver that piece of surprising news to her.
He sighed and said, “Oh no. My flight is scheduled to leave tomorrow and I have no idea if they still have any tickets left for first-class.”
As Natasya heard this, she was utterly shocked, “Didn’t you say you’re leaving the day after tomorrow?”
“Nope, I’ll be leaving tomorrow. The flight’s in six hours to be precise.” William glanced at his watch and looked at Deborah before asking, “What should we do now? Grandma, can you please ask them whether there are any seats left?”
Deborah knew exactly what he was planning and was surprised that Willaim was not as foolish as she had thought. Then, she put on an apologetic face and said, “All the seats in the first-class cabin have been fully booked and we have only managed to book economy class tickets for our men as well. Miss Anderson, I think it’s wise to head back home when you are in better shape.”
Of course, Natasya didn’t like the idea, so she proposed, “Please book me an economy class ticket, then. I’m really worried about William.”
At this, William blinked at Deborah and said, “Grandma, please help us out and it’s best if you could get ahold of a first-class ticket for Natasya.”
