Both of them went to the hanging garden in the VIP ward and sat down. Then, Archer looked at William and said, “Do you want to talk about your father? Valeria told me about it today and I have already discussed it with my father. He is planning to straighten things out with your father soon.”
William shook his head and said, “No. I’ll take care of it myself. Actually, I would like to ask you about Lucian. What was the reason behind her scheming against Natalie?”
“To be honest, I still can’t understand what she’s up to. Lucian is a person with some talent and has always been pretentious. She used to be very good to Natalie and would do anything, but she was not the same with me and was always very hostile.” Archer answered.
“Hostile? Did you do anything that made her angry at you?” William asked.
“No, I have no relations with her at all. If it wasn’t for my romantic relationship with Natalie, I would not have known her at all,” Archer said.
“Isn’t that weird?” William frowned and thought for a moment. “Does Lucian bluntly express her hatred for you?” He asked.
“Nope, it is very subtle. She has always spoken ill of me in front of Natalie, and she claimed that I am unfaithful and untrustworthy. She even said that I have an affair.” Even Archer himself found it ridiculous. “The majority of conflicts that arose during my relationship with Natalie was always because of Lucian.”
“Has she done anything else other than causing trouble between you and Natalie?” William asked.
“Nope, her intention was just to create some misunderstandings between me and Natalie, and to drive a wedge between us. Although I am unsatisfied about Lucian, I decided to just leave her alone as she has always been very good and loyal towards Natalie. However, my relationship with Natalie eventually turned sour because of Savannah.”
Archer paused for a moment before continuing, “There was an incident between Natalie and Ronald, which was also staged by Savannah. Me and Natalie spent the night together, and it was that night that Natalie got pregnant with Valeria. I received a strange phone call that day claiming that Natalie was in danger, and they urged me to come over immediately. Then, I rushed all the way from Ruthorham and rescued Natalie from Ronald. I now suspect the strange phone call was from Lucian.”
“Why would you suspect that it was from Lucian?” William asked.
“Because Natalie was heavily drugged, and she remained unconscious throughout the night. If I did not come to rescue her, she would’ve been violated by Ronald.”
William understood what Archer was trying to say. Natalie did not like Ronald at all, and Lucian knew that Natalie would be as good as dead if Ronald targeted her. Hence, Archer received the strange phone call because it was all part of Lucian’s plan.
Natalie became pregnant after that night with Ronald, and they decided to become husband and wife despite having no feelings towards each other.
“If it was Lucian who informed you, did she know that someone wanted to hurt Natalie? If she was aware of that, why didn’t she attempt to stop it from happening?” William asked.
“I can’t wrap my head around it either. If she knew and did nothing about it, how could she bear to watch as this incident took such a drastic turn?”
Archer could not figure it out as well. “I asked Natalie about this incident yesterday, and she told me that Lucian was the first person to discover her after I left. In order to counter Savannah’s schemes, she and Lucian discussed their plan to take advantage of Ronald. When Ronald was dead drunk that day, they made him believe that he spent his night with Natalie, and even made him agree to be her lawful husband.”
“The only thing that is suspicious now is how Lucian knew about this incident. Could she have been part of the plan to plot against Natalie?” William asked.
“Is it possible?” Archer asked in reply.
“The possibility of her being involved in the plan is relatively high. By the way, have you thought that maybe we’ve suspected the wrong person who drugged Natalie?”
“Do you mean that the person who schemed against Natalie is not Savannah?”
“Yes, if it was Savannah’s plan to scheme against Natalie, she would not have let Lucian know about it. That is why I suspect that the culprit is someone else, and this person would still have some business with Lucian…”
“Uh… How did you come up with this idea?” Archer was shocked and he found it hard to believe.
“I just felt that something was weird. Savannah’s initial intention was to protect the Howard family and the family inheritance, but there is something suspicious about it. Savannah had already taken Raymond away and deceived all of you, but why was Natalie still under her watch? Is it just because she was worried about a revenge planned against her? Even so, isn’t it reasonable that Savannah would not have shared her plan with Lucian? Based on my understanding, Savannah and Lucian are not on good terms, aren’t they?”
“Yes, Lucian hates Savannah very much because she was humiliated by Savannah’s bodyguards in public for defending Natalie. I’m pretty sure that Lucian absolutely despises Savannah, so it’s impossible for them to be on the same boat.” Archer said and looked at William. “Hence, Savannah wouldn’t have been the culprit if Lucian knew the truth . William, do you have a targeted suspect? Who is it?”
“Is there anyone else who would oppose your relationship with Natalie except Savannah?” William asked.
“I reckon it would be my father? Raelyn… Do you suspect that Lucian and Raelyn have some fishy business with each other?” Archer immediately thought of Raelyn. “That is not possible. I can guarantee that they would never be on the same team.”
“Why?” William asked curiously.
“Because Lucian and Devon used to be a couple, and Raelyn hated it.”
“Lucian has a history with Devon!?” William was in great shock.
“They are both from poor families, hence they are often iced out by the rich people. I reckon that they used to be friendly with each other. Furthermore, Devon and Lucian may become a couple if it weren’t for Raelyn. Hence, Devon chose Raelyn over Lucian because of her higher status. This is also one of the reasons why my father and I despise Devon.”
“Is that so?” Based on what Archer had said to him, William initially thought that Lucian was homosexual based on her obsession with Natalie. However, William had second thoughts when Lucian and Devon became a couple. Thus, this could only be rationalized by the fact that Lucian was bisexual. It looked like these matters should be observed longer to come up with a valid conclusion.
In the Howard family’s old mansion, Hayden received a few bizarre photos from his cell phone. The man in the photo was wearing a pair of sunglasses and Hayden had no idea who that man was. The background of all the photos was different. One of the photos had been taken on the top floor of the testing center. Meanwhile, the other photo captured a child that had been soaked wet with milk tea and the background was the entrance of the testing center. The other two photos captured a man and Bobby having a conversation.
Hayden’s expression turned somber. The man that Bobby was talking to was obviously from William’s team, who happened to appear at the inspection center again. Did this mean that William had forged the report that was brought back by Lucas? Was the positive result fake?
It was just as he had expected, where Savannah had no intention of harming him. It was William and the Saunders family who had agreed on this plan.
He almost believed that Savannah was the culprit. “How dare you, William! How dare you plot against me, you b*stard! You shall wait and see what I have in store for you!”
