The room became lively again as soon as Richard joined in. The guys started drinking and exchanging toasts, but Abbie was obviously in low spirits.
Valeria knew what she was thinking when she saw Abbie’s sudden change in mood. What William had said was true after all. She really had feelings for Michael.
She didn’t even have a clue about the relationship between them. She was not a good friend at all.
Abbie must be upset because Michael was sending Azalea to the hospital. This must be the same as how she felt when she saw William with Paisley back then. It must hurt a lot.
However, she could not comfort Abbie while Richard was still there. So, she took out her phone and sent her a message, “Abbie, don’t be sad. I know everything. Just ignore that j*rk. He’s not worth it.”
When Abbie saw the message, she was stunned. But, she turned to her and smiled bitterly, “I’m fine! Don’t worry about me!”
When William saw the both of them exchanging texts, he sent one to Michael too. “What happened back there?”
“I don’t want to talk about it. You didn’t know Azalea was here, right?”
“Yea, I didn’t know!”
“It’s hard to explain. Anyway, things have become much worse now. There’s no way I can explain things now. Help me keep an eye on Raymond, don’t let him do anything he shouldn’t.”
“We’ll be going for karaoke after this. You should come and try to explain things to her.” William replied.
“She won’t listen to a thing I say. There’s nothing I can do today. I’m just an unlucky b*stard with absolutely nothing going my way.” Michael was extremely depressed.
“Come over, and I’ll let Valeria find a way to let you talk to Abbie.”
William put down his phone and saw Raymond trying to get into Richard’s good books. They were chatting happily as if they were close friends.
Raymond was making his feelings clear, and Richard could tell that he liked Abbie. Not to mention that he was very satisfied with Raymond too.
Besides the fact that he was the son of the Saunders family, he was also handsome and competent. He could not find a single flaw in him and saw him as a good choice for Abbie.
If Abbie were not caught up in a relationship with Michael, William would be happy if Abbie ended up with Raymond too. But he could not help Raymond with this now. He had to help Michael.
After dinner, Marcus arranged for a karaoke room for the group and they went over to have fun.
As he got the green light from Richard, Raymond became bolder and started to interact more with Abbie.
The both of them sang a love song together, and everyone was cheering and applauding. Right at this moment, as Michael opened the door and saw Raymond singing love songs to Abbie lovingly, Michael’s expression turned sour.
Richard was applauding on the sofa, clearly in a good mood. “That was good! Sing another one!”
Seeing that someone supported him, Raymond did not give up the chance, and he chose another song to duet with Abbie.
Michael walked to William and sat down next to him with a sullen face. Richard glanced at him and said, “Where is Azalea?”
“She went home.” Michael answered gloomily.
“What’s wrong with you? Her foot is injured, but you just sent her back and left her alone?” Richard looked at Michael disapprovingly. “You guys are engaged after all, so can’t you spend more time with her since she rarely has any free time?”
The expression on Michael’s face changed drastically as he was chided by Richard. Seeing this, William immediately tried to ease the tension, “Oh, come on. He did send her back, right? Why are you so worked up about it?”
Richard did not say anything else after William’s intervention and turned to talk to Andrew. Michael, on the other hand, gulped down the glass of beer in front of him sulkily.
William filled his glass for him, and he quickly downed it again. Then, William continued to fill the glass up to the brim. Seeing that, Valeria stopped William and said, “What are you doing?”
William reached out and carried Valeria onto his lap. He said in her ear, “Honey, could you get Abbie to listen to Michael’s explaination later?”
“No!” Valeria immediately refused. “He’s a j*rk. I don’t want Abbie to get hurt.”
“He’s not a j*rk. Can’t you tell that Abbie likes him too?”
“Anyway, I don’t like how he’s being. Unless he settles his relationship with Azalea first.”
“Don’t worry, he will take care of it. Don’t you believe in your husband? Just listen to me for now, and I’ll be extra good to you tonight!”
“Humph!” Valeria glared at William, who was grinning cheekily. “Alright, that’s a promise! Be good, I love you, honey.”
Valeria had no choice but to agree after seeing how persistent he was. She reluctantly agreed, “You had better promise that Michael Davis isn’t some womanizer or a j*rk. Or else, I’ll make you pay!”
“Don’t worry! I promise you! I can swear on that!”
Then, Valeria got up and left. William then turned to Michael in distaste and said, “Do I have to do everything for you? Am I your parents?”
“If you help me, I could even call you my king.” Michael picked up another glass of beer and downed it.
William shook his head and said, “Alright, I think you’ve had enough. If you drink too much, you might lose your chance later.”
As he was saying this, Marcus walked to William and pushed Michael aside. He sat down next to William and said in a low voice, “Mr. Howard, Lucas went to the bank today and asked about you.”
“Is that so? After so long, they finally thought of checking? Let them do what they want. I want to see what they can find.” William smiled faintly with a nonchalant expression.
“I’ve asked the bank employee to give him vague answers. I think your father might start to be concerned about this. He might talk to you about what happened back then.” Marcus guessed.
“He was adamant on hiding the truth from me back then. I think it’s quite unlikely for him to talk about it now. We will definitely find something if we keep a close eye on Savannah. After all, she was the one who benefitted the most from it.” William said with a cold smile.
“By the way, Savannah secretly visited Ashley yesterday. She was only there for a few minutes and Dixie walked her out. After that, she went to see Charles. I don’t know what they are planning. Then, she left the hotel after midnight.”
“Andrew told me about this before. She must be trying to do something now. You have to keep a close eye on her. She is inhuman and the same goes to Ashley Evans. Putting the both of them together will definitely not end well.”
William sneered humorlessly, “If they dare to even raise a finger, I will not let them off the hook easily.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll be watching them closely.” After saying that, his phone rang. He talked to the person on the other end for a while and turned to William. “Mr. Howard, Archer has just arrived in B City. He came very secretly, without informing anyone.”
“Is that so? Where is he now?”
“He went to the Lentzville Memorial Cemetery.”
