The voice caused goose bumps on Michael all of a sudden. What was Azalea Clark doing here?
He turned around stiffly to see that she was wearing a red gown, and she was smiling lightly as she walked over. “What a coincidence, Michael!”
Michael let out a humorless laugh. “It is indeed a coincidence. What are you doing here?”
“It’s the producer’s birthday today and we’re here to celebrate with him.” Azalea looked at him warmly. Seeing the bandage on Michael’s arm, her chest tightened instantly. “Michael! What happened to your hand?”
“Nah, small matter,” Michael answered nonchalantly.
Seeing how Michael was unwilling to talk to her, Azalea was very unhappy.
As an actress, she was an expert in controlling her emotions. Even though she was upset with how he reacted, she did not show it and still forced a smile at him. “Michael, since you’re here, why don’t you come over and meet everyone?”
Michael refused immediately without even considering it. “I’m with my friends tonight. I don’t have time!”
“Michael, have you forgotten that you were going to help me build up my popularity?” Azalea pouted her red lips and flirted. “That day when you left me alone at the banquet, people looked at me with so much pity. And today, I was mocked by my colleague! It was totally embarrassing.”
“Azalea, we are going to separate sooner or later. You can’t possibly use me as an excuse forever.” Michael frowned slightly and said impatiently.
“I know that, but I’m trying to be independent too. You have to give me some time to grow, right?”
Azalea looked at him like a lost puppy, “Besides, you promised me! You can’t go back on your words!”
“I…” Michael was losing his patience. He had indeed promised her that he would help her build up her career, so he had to do what he committed.
However, he did not want to talk about the promise they had made right now as he had no time to squabble with her about this. “Alright, I got it. Let’s talk about this some other time. I have to go now!”
“And when will that be? Michael, could I see you tomorrow night?” Azalea said as she moved closer to him. Feeling her getting closer, he tried to step away from her, but Azalea suddenly lost her footing and fell towards him.
Azalea was wearing extremely high heels, so if she fell, it would be a serious injury. Seeing that she was about to fall, Michael immediately caught her. However, Azalea seized the opportunity and fell into his embrace while exclaiming, “Ouch! I think I’ve sprained my ankle! It hurts!”
Before he could say anything, someone let out a cold snicker.
Azalea, who was lying in Michael’s arms delicately, said, “Hey! Abbie, you’re here too?”
Hearing Abbie’s name, he thought, “Sh*t! Why am I so unlucky!”
Then, he immediately let go of Azalea and turned around to see that Abbie’s arms were crossed as she looked at them with a mocking smile.
Seeing her expression, Michael knew that he was completely done for. “Abbie! Let me explain!”
As soon as Abbie left the room, she saw Michael and Azalea talking to each other. Azalea was as flirty as always while putting up that fragile and delicate act of hers.
When she saw them hugging each other, the answer was clear to Abbie. To think that she had actually believed what Michael said and was even sorry for biting at him, what a joke!
She smiled at Michael. “What did you want to say to me?”
“I am not… Azalea, tell Abbie that I have nothing to do with you and we only met by chance!” Michael pinned all of his hope on Azalea.
As she heard this, Azalea’s heart burned with fury. After all, she was a celebrity that people fawned over. Everyone envied her as they thought she had successfully tied the knot with Michael from the powerful Davis family. However, she knew she was nothing to him.
If Abbie weren’t here, Michael would still bother to answer some of her questions. But with Abbie around, she was absolutely nothing.
Now that Michael had asked her to tell Abbie the truth, she was obviously unwilling to do so. So, she tried to change the topic, “Ouch, my leg hurts…”
“Tell Abbie the truth!” Michael got angry immediately. What was up with her? Didn’t they make a promise that it was all an act? Was she trying to break the promise?
If she refused to tell Abbie the truth, he was going to make her pay!
Seeing how furious Michael was, Azalea did not dare play any more tricks. She said reluctantly, “Michael and I aren’t actually…”
“What are you guys doing here?” Richard, who had been late, arrived at that moment and saw the three of them standing there with weird expressions.
When Azalea saw Richard, she immediately smiled happily and called out, “Richard!”
Richard came over and looked closely at the three of them. His expression was dark and he said coldly, “What’s going on?”
“I sprained my ankle, and Michael was going to send me to the doctor.” Azalea answered immediately.
“Well, then, go on and send her to the doctor, Michael.” Richard took Abbie’s hand and said, “Let’s go in.”
Michael watched helplessly as Richard pulled Abbie back into the room. He was frustrated as he could not do or say anything to protest.
Seeing that Richard and Abbie had entered the room, Michael immediately pushed Azalea away from him in disgust.
Azalea said pitifully, “Michael, aren’t you going to take me to the doctor?”
“Just go by yourself! I don’t have time.”
“But just now, Richard… I was about to tell Abbie the truth, but he suddenly appeared. You wouldn’t want my brother to know about you and Abbie, right? With that temper of his, he would definitely kill you if he finds out about it.”
Michael’s handsome eyes were cold as ice. He utterly ignored Azalea and said, “Go away. Don’t let me see you again!”
“Michael, I’m doing this for your sake. If you don’t bring me to the doctor, what am I going to tell my brother if he asks about it? Why don’t you…”
“Then that would be up to me, and it has nothing to do with you. Just leave me alone!” Michael interrupted as he couldn’t take it anymore.
Azalea’s heart was filled with hatred for Abbie, but she still pretended to care for them. “Michael, I’ll tell Abbie the truth. Don’t worry!”
“Are you deaf? If you’re not going to leave, then I will.” Then, Michael marched away in anger.
Azalea looked at Michael’s retreating figure and sneered. Did he think he could just leave her and be with Abbie? That was impossible! She would never give him up. Never!
Meanwhile, Richard entered the room with Abbie with a smile. “Sorry, I’m late!”
William was stunned when he saw Richard enter the room with Abbie’s hand in his. Where was Michael? Didn’t he bump into Abbie back there? Or were they interrupted by Richard?
If Richard had seen Michael and Abbie together, he wouldn’t have been this calm. So did they miss each other?
Then, William asked deliberately, “Michael just went out, didn’t you guys see him?”
“He is taking Azalea to the hospital.” Richard sat down and said neutrally.
Hearing Azalea’s name, William turned to Marcus abruptly. Marcus, on the other hand, froze when he heard this too.
What the hell. He had only tried to use Azalea to provoke Abbie to make her talk to Michael. Who knew that Azalea was really right here in the Wolf Group?!
This joke had gone terribly wrong…
