Only you, Snow, only you

Book:His Winter Heart Published:2024-5-31

I turn to look at Hannah. She was avoiding my eyes. What happened? What is happening in the world? First Emma, now Hannah? Wait wait wait… Please slow down. I feel like everything’s happening fast.
I glared at Hannah and forced to catch her gaze. Ugh, they are so secretive. I told her that she should tell me what’s happening through my eyes.
She seems to understand and nodded shyly, clutching at Leroy as her life depends on him. Wow, what is happening now?
Guess I’ll just interrogate them next time…
As the new couple sat down, the silence vanished, Leroy behind his usual noisy self, started a conversation with everybody.
And everyone seemed to shrug the news aside and was immersed in the topic. I glance at Leroy, beaming as he talks animatedly with his hands moving. By the look of his grin, he seemed happier than usual.
Then I remembered him… He’s still not here… “Hannah? Where’s Luke?”
“I don’t know, we’re not twins.” She replied, the same reply I get when I asked Luke about her.
They really are siblings. I sighed. So helpful Hannah. So helpful.
Luke was the one who was avoiding me starting from this morning… ever since that incident yesterday with Eion… And I have a feeling it’s my fault… I just don’t know what it was. Did I really do something wrong?
“Did something happen? He seemed down when I invited him to play a game with me later,” Dax wondered.
They all looked at me with a raised eyebrows. I threw my hands up in surrender, looking at them defensively. “What?”
“You know Snow… You easily find fault with others but within yourself, you are blinded.” Beside me, Emma whispered.
I looked at her and took in what she said. Is that really what she thinks? What do they think? Is that what I really am?
I kept my eyes to the ground, cracking a small smile. “I’m okay. We’re okay. I think it’s just a little fight, you know me.” Though I don’t know what’s wrong. I chuckled to add effect.
They seemed not to mind me as they just shrugged me aside and talked with each other again, updating on each other’s lives and all of that.
My phone beeped from inside my pockets. Grabbing from my pockets, I checked to see it was from someone I didn’t expect to text me.
Eion: Stop it. That pretentious expression. I’m sure we made a deal about that.
As you said, it’s okay to smile, laugh, and cry.
I looked up and glanced at him. He was minding his own business and eating as if nothing new was happening. He did see through my facade? Well, he’s the master of it after all.
Snow: Yeah, yeah. Fine.
I replied to him. Texting Luke as to where he is, I frowned when I got a reply instantly.
Luke: At the juniors building at the back.
Wow, seriously? He just avoided me all morning and now he replies? I smirked. What’s this drama, Luke?
I finished my food first before standing up. I went to where he is and he was serious, he was really there.
“Hey,” I called out. He was sitting on the grass. A few food wraps were beside him. So he ate here alone huh? He must be really that mad.
He turned to look at me and huffed, pouting.
I sighed. “Luke.”
He huffed again, crossing his arms.
“Luke,” I called out again in a sing-song tone.
“I’m ignoring you Leizel Snow Garcia Waterstrings. Don’t talk to me.”
I gasped at his childishness. Really Luke? He’s this childish?
I decided to play along, starting to walk away, “Fine then, Luke Jackson. I guess… I’ll just leave. Since you don’t want me here…” I said dramatically.
He shot up straight and stood up. “Wait!”
Checkmate! Smirking, I stopped. “Hmm?”
“I was saying the exact opposite! I’m mad. Love me!” He exclaimed.
“What are you? A pregnant woman?” I asked, joking at him. He switched emotions too often than a pregnant woman.
“Even a lot of girls switch moods too often. I’m just trying it.” He chuckled.
I snorted at his comment.
“And I’m finding something from here.” He said, looking around.
“What is it?”
Pointing his lips, “My kiss!” He exclaimed, his lips pouting.
“Oh, you’re mad for that?”
“Not only that… I heard you’ve been very friendly with Eion…” He cocked an eyebrow.
“Wow, that’s really fast-breaking news,” I said sarcastically. “And he’s your cousin… why are you jealous?”
“All the more reason. We share the same divine blood. It’s hard for me.” He answered.
“Divine? Really, Luke?” I rolled my eyes.
“Oh shut up.” He laughed at me and I walked the distance between us to hug him. “You’re so cute when you’re jealous.”
He pulled away from our hug to stare at me, “Then kiss me.”
I hit his face lightly, “That’s for the right time.”
He gaped at me. “You just led me on all along. I hate you, Snow!”
“Oh, I’ve been hated all my life. One more person is not that bad. So am I forgiven?” I asked, looking up at him with my adorable puppy eyes, putting a stupid smile on my face.
“If you’ll kiss me I mean I can but-”
I put my hand to his face, shaking my head in disagreement. “Nope,” I said, popping the p. “You should still work hard to earn it. It’s a trophy.”
He snorted. “Challenging me?”He asked. “Only you Snow. Only you.” He shook his head in disappointment.
The bell rang, signaling the end of lunch. “We better head back,” I said, grabbing his hand to lead the way.
