“Oh? Did you come? Psh how gullible.” A voice said from behind me.
I turned around slowly, dreading for the worse, and saw Eion leaning casually by the wall of one of the classrooms. Oh, just in time. How considerate of him.
Gritting my teeth at the sight of him, I didn’t waste a moment and stormed towards him.
“So you’re going to punch me? Do it then.” He urged. I scoffed, now he just put fuel into me. There’s no stopping me. I clenched my hands and slammed it so hard towards him, but he dodged it, making my hand meet the cold hard wall instead, not having enough time to stop it.
I winced in pain, biting down the shriek of pain. Eion took my hands and slammed them into the wall on top of my head. He leaned into me and fixed me with his gaze.
I averted my eyes to the ground. He can’t fool me with those emerald eyes! Not anymore! I gritted my teeth, clenching my hands that’s now on top of me.
I winced in pain again as the hand that hit the wall earlier tried to punch him. “Snow, I wanted to tell you something.” He said, there was sincerity in his voice. “If you only know…”
I scoffed at that. Oh, is that also his acting skills? His facade skills? Wow.
I could almost believe him if it didn’t matter to the fact that he has my hands tied. And, one of my hands was bruised by the way, since meeting the wall earlier, he should have taken it.
I raised my head and looked up at him, glaring. “You…” I growled, what he was about to say. “Did you know what you just did? You just fooled me! I am not taking it lightly. No, I will kill you!”
He just stared at me. There was something strange in his eyes. I squirmed uncomfortably, then violently shook my hands, forcing him to let go of my hands.
He seemed to be in a trance as it was easy for me to let go. It surprised me. But anyway, I should be happy about that. I glared at him with the deadliest glare I could manage.
“You know what? I’m enough with you! You and your pranks! I thought you finally listened to me…”
I stopped, my voice straining. “I thought you finally let me in in your world… I thought I finally understood you! Guess I was wrong.” I said slowly, disappointment lacing in my voice.
He cleared his throat. “Wrong? Yes, you were wrong.” He said. “No one will ever understand me. Especially you.”
I was taken aback at that. My eyes widened, shocked. I was hurt, but I immediately hid my reaction and stood proudly, putting on my fake-strong face.
“Fine then! You know what, that’s your life.” I huffed angrily, storming out and leaving him behind. I’m done. I am really really done with that complicated guy. When I was just trying to help, he’d just push me away.
“Whatever. I don’t care about you!” He retorted back. I flashed him an annoying grin, that’s good. I had trusted him. But now I can’t anymore.
I really thought we were the same. And that we finally got along now…
But no…
***
Eion didn’t ignore me, nor did I ignore him the next day. But what he is acting is so irritating. It’s even worse! He acts as if nothing happened!
“Can I borrow a pen?” I glanced behind me as a girl asked Eion so loud in her high little voice, purring. She batted her eyelashes at him, showcasing her pearly white teeth as she flashed him a wide smile into what she thinks is cute.
Yuck. Is she making everyone laugh with that funny caked face and imitates a clown? If she did, then she succeeded.
Turning my head to look towards the scene, I narrowed my eyes as I stared at her… I think I had seen her somewhere…
Oh, that’s the leader of the group that once tried to mess with me. It looks like her seat is just beside Eion, I see…
So basically, they are seatmates in this class, Literature… I hadn’t noticed until now. So that’s how she plays… That girl…
Gritting my teeth in irritation, I clenched the pen in my hand. Now how should I kill her with this?
I pushed my murderous thoughts aside as Eion nodded his head calmly and handed his pen to the girl, before staring straight ahead in boredom, his eyes holding no emotion as always.
The normal Eion would glare at that girl for even trying to talk to him or just shrugged that girl off as if he’s just a mere lowly creature on Earth. It’s funny how I was hesitant yesterday because of his sudden change of attitude.
Since his attitude changes like a girl change clothes, I really thought he wouldn’t dare to listen to me.
Or it won’t even last for a day and he’ll change back to his normal-Eion self like I dreaded yesterday. And now that he is, it’s still, new…. a sight to see. He may have irritated me yesterday, but he’s keeping his word today.
Still so moody, but I guess yesterday he was still not used to controlling himself? I guess I have to let that slide… I mean, maybe I’m making it a big deal again. Besides, it’s my fault too, I provoked him…
The teacher came at last and the class started, with me pulled from my thoughts and had only one person in mind. Every now and then, I discreetly glanced behind to check Eion and the girl, to see what that girl is scheming again.
Lunch came as the bell rang and I headed straight towards the cafeteria, not in the mood to go to my locker. I spotted our table empty except for one person, Eion munching on his lunch.
As I headed towards him, I stopped to watch as a few guys came to greet him and he greeted them back, which surprised the guys to the core, their mouths hanging wide open as they back away, still gawking.
I chuckled at their reaction and took it as a chance to intervene and sat down.
“How was it?” he raised his eyebrows at me. “I mean, did I do it properly?” Oh did he mean by being nice? I guess he’s really making an effort to control himself… I can’t help but smile.
“Yeah, you did, which surprised a lot of people at the sudden change.” I shook my head and just started to eat, the smile on my face not leaving as I took a few glances up at him.
He caught my gaze and I averted my eyes to the floor, my face reddening.
“Hmm… smells fishy…” A feminine voice said in a singsong tone from behind me and towards my ear.
I dropped my spoon and looked behind, it was Emma, with Dax holding his lunch and hers as always. Is he a boyfriend or a slave?
“What’s fishy?” I asked innocently. If there’s something fishy here, then it’s her and Dax.
“Don’t play dumb, Snow. You have to tell me what is happening later.” She whispered to me. I rolled my eyes at her. But at least, she’s still herself after all. I thought she really changed and forgot about me.
They sat down, Emma beside me and Dax beside Eion. “By the way, where’s everyone?”
“Yeah, where are they? We are all too busy these days… the only time we can chill is every lunch.” Dax said.
At this, there was another loud clatter. “Hey, guy!” I don’t have to look behind me to know it was Leroy, even kilometers away that guy had this positive and noisy aura around him.
He sat down at our table with his usual goofy grin, being his usual self as always. This guy… don’t tell me he’s still messing around after Hannah has disappeared…
I was about to reach and pinch his ears when behind him stood Hannah.
“Guys, meet my girlfriend.” Leroy beamed at us, pointing at Hannah.
Silence. My mouth opened ajar, I looked around, the squad was looking at them like they were crazy. I caught Emma’s gaze, furrowing my eyebrows.
She shrugged, shocked as I was.
