EPISODE HUNDRED AND FORTY EIGHT
THEME: Liam’s intention
MOON STONE FORTRESS
AT THE BORDER
Lisa burned holes to the side of her brother’s face as he sipped on the glass of vodka he had in hand. He looked really unbothered by her.
“It has been more than two weeks, Liam, shouldn’t we stop now? He is looking pale already.” She told him.
“Still hasn’t done enough damage if I must say. That young man looks stronger than one would imagine and it must be due to the Alpha’s blood in him.” Liam replied.
“What exactly do you intend to gain from this?”
Liam turned to face his sister sharply. “The Secret Passage Map is a way for us to get into the Fortress, having him weak and almost dying would make him useless in confronting us when the truth comes out. I don’t want to underestimate his ability.”
“How about the girl?”
“You don’t have to worry about that.”
“Are you sure about this Liam? You don’t appear to have a plan.”
“What do you think my men and I have been working on for the past few weeks? Don’t stress me Lisa, this isn’t a ladies thing so leave it to me.” He glared at her.
Turning his back against her, Liam poured the rest of the glass content into his mouth at one go and he felt the liquid burn his throat. He smashed the glass against the wall in anger, breathing hard. Every time he remembered the intention behind his consistent push it keeps him on the edge. He was becoming anxious as regards Jayden’s provision of the Secret Passage Map. Knowing the more they keep dragging the time, the more it becomes harder to perpetrate the walls of the Fortress. The Protectors of the Fortress are just as vigilant as their dead Alpha and they take no chances on anything.
Liam has made up his mind to make the death of Jayden and his intended girl die earlier than planned if they refuse to show him what he needs in time.
“Hey Liam.” Jayden’s voice hollered from behind.
He almost cussed out loud. Liam had been too engrossed in his thoughts and he has almost forgotten about his environment.
“Howdy Jayden? Fancy seeing you awake this late.”
Jayden smiled awkwardly as he scratched the back of his neck. He hardly sleeps at noon, however he has been sleeping since noon and he only just woke up few minutes after dinner. For a week now, he has been waking up tired and exhausted. It was almost like his bones weren’t functioning and it was becoming harder to reach out to his wolf. He feels it might be as a result of his stressed state of mind over getting all that he intends to get out of the Fortress. Juno was taking more time than he expected. Although she had acted smart at first, but it turns out she is just a scared pant and everything bothered him, knowing he was just on a time span staying with Liam and the rest of the rogues.
“Felt a bit tired so I had to sleep in for a while longer.” He responded.
The moment Jayden took his seat, Lisa came at him with a tray of glasses. He stared at the tray with a weird look, he had no idea but it appears the tea might be part of the reason behind his tiredness.
“Here you go.” Lisa smiled widely at him.
“You don’t have to worry yourself, Lisa. I am quite okay and don’t you think it’s weird to have tea this evening?”
Lisa laughed out. “I can’t believe you think all I can offer you is tea. This is a glass of juice.” She brought it down for him to have a clearer view.
Jayden let out a breath of relief that he didn’t realize he had been holding. Taking the glass and mumbling a thanks, he sipped on it and loved the taste.
Letting him feel relaxed a bit Liam cleared his throat. “I still haven’t heard anything about getting the Map to the Secret Passage.”
Jayden gulped dryly. “She promised to get back to me soon.”
“How soon?” Liam raised a brow. “I don’t have too many spaces to accommodate you here and not to talk of probably getting in trouble with the Fortress.”
“Juno is really trying her very best.” He tried to defend her.
“I don’t care how hard she is trying, Jayden. The fact still remains that I am not getting anything from your presence here. I would only give you the next twenty four hours to get me the map.” He said in a raised tone.
“Come on, Liam-” Jayden tried to protest.
Liam raised a hand to silence him. “You can’t blame me, Jayden. I have to do what is best for my people.”
Jayden breathed deeply still sourcing himself for something convincing to tell Liam. Just then his phone rang, the caller being Juno. He stared eagerly at Liam, like a puppy seeking for attention.
“It’s Juno.” He announced. Liam stared blankly at him.
‘Hey Juno, any news?’
‘I have the map with me.’ Juno said into the receiver.
A bright smile appeared on Jayden’s face as he placed the phone on speaker. He kept his eyes on Liam.
‘Can you repeat that Juno?’ Jayden said.
‘I have the map and I am on my way to the border now.’ She repeated.
‘Ok, come quick then. I would be waiting out for you.’ Jayden ended the call as he grinned from ear to ear. “I told you she would get it soon.”
Liam nodded looking a bit impressed. “Not bad then. I guess we can get our plans rolling now.”
Jayden relaxed into the chair. “I knew she could be trusted to do it on her own.”
Getting up, Liam motioned towards his room. “When she does arrive, we would be holding our meeting this same night to make our plans against the next coming hours. Prepare your mind. I don’t have much time to waste, catching the Fortress off guard is our only way from not getting ourselves killed.” Liam stood up and headed towards his room.
Jayden nodded in understanding at what he meant. One of the strongest military in werewolf history is what the Moon Stone Fortress possesses and it’s why they are impenetrable. His father had ensured to follow the foundation of Moon Stone and worked further to make it stronger. That had been Jayden’s plan too, to put Moon Stone Fortress on the map in the face of the whole world but they all ruined his intention because no one is obviously ready to give him an actual chance.
Jayden hissed angrily as he stood up and went out to await Juno’s return. He had never felt this anxious his whole life and he hoped it would all end in his favor.
“Just few hours more Lorelei and all of this would be over.” He muttered under his breath.
