EPISODE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-EIGHT
THEME: Juno’s hope
MOON STONE FORTRESS
“Wait up, Lorelei! Come on!” Jaylen called out to her as he rested his palms on his knees trying to hold still. They were shaking, still reeling from the aftermath of his fight with Jayden. A sharp pain shot through his knees.
Lorelei stared back as she saw him bent over. She ran towards him. “Are you okay, Jaylen? What happened?” She inquired.
Jaylen threw his hand to the back of his neck as he panted hard. “You could have just waited. Why were you stomping off so angrily?”
Lorelei folded her arm against her chest with a deep frown on her face. “You tell me. I should have known your refusal to return or put a call through to me was because you had someone else who already shows you enough love.”
“Are you listening to yourself right now?” Jaylen mused as he stood upright.
“What do you want me to think, Jaylen? She came all the way from Chicago to find you and doesn’t seem like she would leave just because I am present. You must have promised to love her for a long while.”
“Lorelei, please can you not add to my already compounded problems? I really need some peace surrounding me right now and it’s obvious you are still living all up in your head. Do you think I am that controversial and I would want to ruin my own peace by letting my supposed secret lover come around here? You must really think I have so much time on my hands.” Jaylen sounded pissed.
She bit on her lips hard. “How did you get to meet her then?”
Jaylen tried to control the frustrating surge he was feeling. “Adriel was my crush during college days. I really liked her, but I wasn’t bold enough to make the move more because she had a boyfriend, and he was like the most popular guy on campus then. I only met her back about a month ago…precisely two weeks after I left here. I just needed to distract myself badly from all of the stress I was going through. And she made a good company, we reminisced on our college days and in one of those moments I had told her about how I had been feeling about her back then and coupled with the fact that she hasn’t lost her beauty till this moment. We kissed once which was not initiated by me and I am not saying this to make you proud or an attempt to fool you. It’s obvious Adriel want me, but I love you Lorelei. If I wanted to really forget about you I would have involved deeper with Adriel and just live through it with no remorse.” She didn’t response. “I am telling truth, Lorelei.” He added.
Her folded hands on her chest dropped to her side and she pouted. “Come here.” Jaylen mumbled as he pulled her to himself.
Lorelei smiled to herself as she hugged him tightly. “So how about you tell her off for good?”
“It doesn’t work that way. I still need to make some clarifications and not hurt her in the process. Adriel thinks I stringed her along but Rosalyn is my witness I have nothing doing with her. Just know that baby, I have missed you so much.” Jaylen said. He pulled her away from the embrace and kissed her on the lips.
“You both might need to get a room please.” Juno glared at them as she walked past them.
“S!” Jaylen yelled after her which resulted in Juno giving him the middle finger and it caused himself and Lorelei to laugh out.
Juno got into the car as she tried to steady her breath. She had been trying to get through to Jayden but he wasn’t responding still. She has searched the whole of the pack house and didn’t find him and his line wasn’t reachable either.
There was no need for a seer to tell her something must have gone wrong while she was away. Knowing clearly of the bad blood between the two brothers and the wound she had noticed on Jaylen, Juno has a bad feeling a big fight must have ensued between them. It wouldn’t be right for her to start asking anyone at the pack house cause it would appear more like gossip.
Searching through her contacts, she dialed the one person that might be nice enough to fill her in on everything that happened before her return.
‘Hey baby.’ Ron cooed from the other line. His voice irked Juno’s ears.
Juno made a pathetic eye roll, trying to keep her tune balanced. She held up a smile to enable it reflect in her voice. ‘How are you Ron? Good to hear from you.’
‘I am fine. I am glad you called. But you never call me unless you need something Juno, so what is it this time around?!’
Juno felt ashamed at his bluntness even though he was clearly right. ‘Actually, I am sorry to be of bother Ron. But I want to ask quickly, did any major occurrence take place in the pack house while I was at the base?’
‘We were both at the base Juno so what makes you think I would know what happened all the way there?’
‘Come on Ron, your sister and Claire are friends and so are you both. She would have definitely kept you both in the know so don’t play smart with me now.’ Her voice got on the edge.
‘What would I get for helping you out this time?’
‘Your lunch for the next one week is on me!’
Ron scoffed. ‘That’s so cheap of you. But fine, I would tell you. Jayden and Jaylen got into a huge fight as regards the Alpha post and most importantly because of Lorelei. Jayden is ready to give up the position only if he gets Lorelei. And according to Claire, Jayden hasn’t returned to the pack house since yesterday.’ He narrated.
‘Thanks for this Ron.’ Juno mused not letting him finish as she disconnected the call.
Juno cussed out loudly as she threw the phone on the car seat. Jayden would never cease to disappoint her! Just when she thought some sort of chemistry was growing between herself and Jayden, he was still hanging onto Lorelei. It hurt her every time, she realizes she would never even become a first option for him.
“Damn you…Jayden!” Trying to stop her lips from shaking due to the tears attempting to fall, Juno ignited her car and drove off in anger.
Juno hoped for her sake, Jayden’s heart rots out and he would be unable to feel not even in the least.
