EPISODE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SEVEN
THEME: Her Addiction
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Juno had a weird look on her face as she entered the study. She hadn’t expected the news flying around the pack house. The last time she had come around it was to spend some time with Jayden and it had been a special night with a different sort of feeling to it. Jayden had been sweet towards her and it made Juno really happy.
After reporting back to the base, she had thought to check on everyone at the pack house but to her surprise, one of the maids had told her of Jaylen’s return.
“Juno.” Jaylen said as he stood up to his feet to pull her in his embrace.
Juno leaned into his touch. “Jaylen! I can’t believe you are here. I almost thought you would never come back.”
He chuckled lightly. “Well I just thought it would be unfair to leave you all alone here. I had to come running to you.” He winked.
Juno slapped his chest lightly as she sniffed. “Don’t you dare pack up whenever you feel like. It really doesn’t feel nice at all.”
“Yes it doesn’t…and I am sorry.” Jaylen tickled her which caused Juno to burst into fits of laughter. The door burst opened again, ushering Adriel and Rosalyn into the study.
Jaylen scoffed in annoyance as he let go of Juno. No one told him being an Alpha would involve people opening doors without considering a knock of some sort.
“Jaylen. Who is she?” Adriel inquired with her eyes almost looking red.
“Who are you?” Juno blurted back irritated at her rudeness. She eyed Adriel and didn’t spare Rosalyn either.
“They are my friends from Chicago.” Jaylen informed her.
“Oh ok. Don’t think that’s enough to barge into the place.” She continued.
Jaylen chortled. “So did you ma’am.”
Juno laughed. She held Jaylen’s head down and pecked him on the cheeks. “I would see you later then.” She said before leaving the room.
Adriel couldn’t believe what had just happened in front of her. She looked towards Rosalyn for support but it appeared she has no answer to give judging by how quick she had sat in front of Jaylen and ignored her completely.
“Before you say anything Adriel, I would like to ask a definite question. Why are you here?” The look on Jaylen’s face was intimidating.
Adriel gulped hard as she tried to put her foot down without appearing nervous, probably she didn’t exactly think about what might be the end result of her decision.
“I came to stay by your side and support you.” She replied, hoping that was good enough.
He rubbed at his forehead. “I understand your concern. But I have just about enough people to do this. And even though I have no idea what this is all about, I just want to be clear. The lady you saw yesterday when you returned is my girlfriend, I mean the woman I truly love.”
A flash of shock raced through Adriel’s eyes as she didn’t believe her ears. “I thought we had a thing going.”
“No…. Adriel-”
“Don’t Jaylen, we shared a kiss. You had me next to you whenever you wanted me. I was at your beck and call. Is that all I am to you, someone you can use and dump whenever you want to?” Adriel was raving mad, more like she could see her whole plans failing.
Jaylen was short of words as he glanced towards Rosalyn. Rosalyn grimaced as she tried not to meet his gaze. And his heart almost stopped beating when he locked eyes with Lorelei at the entrance.
“What did I do to deserve this?” He mumbled underneath his breath.
Lorelei huffed and puffed as she tried to keep the tears away. Seeing that her ability to control the tears didn’t work, she turned away and ran off.
“Damn it!” Jaylen spat as he moved out of the room and sprinted after her. “Lorelei!”
Tears rolled down Adriel’s face and it got Rosalyn a bit confused. She was beginning to feel irritated by the bubble of mess Jaylen is being rolled in every new day.
“Rosalyn how can you sit still and let Jaylen talk to me like that?” Adriel turned to look at Rosalyn.
Rosalyn inhaled deeply as she held Adriel’s gaze. “Let me explain something to you. Jaylen and I have come a long way and I know when he wants something and when he doesn’t. Adriel, truth be told I don’t know what idea is running through your head but he never told me about you both getting intimate together. Lorelei is the woman he loves. Probably he did have a long crush on you during your college days but that was a long time ago. So can you just let him be please? There is a whole lot on his plate at the moment. Please.”
Adriel stared coldly at Rosalyn. “Maybe I forgot to tell this to you, but I am in love with Jaylen and he is mine. I would definitely get my man. I don’t care whatever it is you think of me.” After uttering her words, she stormed out of the room too.
Rosalyn was beginning to think storming off was a thing around the Moon Stone Fortress now. It was no wonder Jaylen insists on not coming back, too much drama in less than seventy two hours and things were going wild. If she really cares about Jaylen and for the sake of some sanity, it would be fair for her to help Jaylen get rid of some problems.
“But how?” She muttered to herself in frustration.
In her silly mind, she had thought coming to the Fortress would be a long term holiday for her. Unfortunately, Rosalyn was sincerely regretting her decision to agreeing to such trapped condition. Pulling out her phone, she decided to make some calls.
Adriel slammed the door shut and she went in search of her pills everywhere…anywhere she could have tossed it. Adriel emptied the contents in her bag until she eventually got the pills. She poured out about four of it and she swallowed hard. She grabbed the bottle of water near her bed stand and gulped it down.
Her hands shook as she sat on the floor, holding onto her hair tightly almost tearing it away from the scalp. She had to do something to ensure Jaylen ate out of her palms. She needed a steady income and that can only come from someone as financially independent as Jaylen. Something Adriel kept to herself, was her addiction to pills and all was due to her affiliation with Brandon during their college days and she fell prey.
Adriel had gotten away from Brandon after realizing her life might just end right there and then if she doesn’t get the required help. But her monsters came crawling back when she lost her job and also got into debt with a loan shark due to her mother’s surgery. To put her mind off her problems, she had taken solace in the pill and it added more to financial murder. Meeting with Jaylen was like mother luck deciding to help her out but nothing seems to be working out as she had planned.
Adriel relaxed her head on the bed after the pill had settled inside her. Adriel sighed as she tried to figure another way out of the mess she was in.
