EPISODE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FOUR
THEME: A shattered state of mind
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Jaylen laid in bed staring into space not moving an inch from where he sat. His hand was still bleeding nonstop and he made no attempt at cleaning it out. The door opened with Rosalyn walking in.
Seeing his state, she said nothing. Rosalyn headed to the bathroom to grab some wipes and spirit from the first aid box that lay under the sink. Coincidentally, everything she needed was there. Holding them out, Rosalyn sat in front of Jaylen and ignored his rigid state. She used the wipes to clean out the fresh and dried blood. She applied the spirit, making it burn deeper into his skin but Jaylen seem unmoved at the effect.
Certain that the wound was safe from getting any form of infection, Rosalyn sat in front of him on the bed and cupped his face with both of her hands. “Stop looking like your whole life ended right in front of you.”
Not saying a word, Jaylen leaned into Rosalyn and rested his head on her folded legs. She caressed his hair and pat his back lightly. She didn’t realize how tough it had been for him when he had been at the Fortress at first but witnessing everything made her have a clear understanding of the situation. It was obvious Jaylen would need all the support he can get.
Jaylen was sleeping soundly already and she could tell he was exhausted. No one can withstand such pain and still stand strong. It made Rosalyn proud knowing someone as resilient and loving as Jaylen.
Lorelei walked into the room unexpectedly and her eyes shot up seeing Jaylen resting his head on Rosalyn’s laps. “Oh I am so sorry…I didn’t mean to barge in. I will just come around later.” She said making an attempt to go out.
Rosalyn laughed as she waved her hands. “Oh please don’t leave on my behalf, I was about to sneak out on him. You might need to let him sleep for a while cause he appears really tired. Come stay with him.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Very sure.” Rosalyn said as she lifted Jaylen’s head off her legs.
Lorelei moved quickly towards him to replace Rosalyn. Getting to the door, Rosalyn held onto the door knob and said. “Lorelei, I hope you do love Jaylen as much as he loves you. I mean…he sacrificed everything he has worked for to come protect you. My point is, he needs all of the support he can get from you. Please stay with him as much as you can.”
“I would do all I can to stand by him.” Lorelei shook her head as she ran her hands through his head.
“Thank you. We would make great friends.” Rosalyn muttered before stepping out of the room. But she bumped into Sebastian as she turned away from the door. “Oh…so…sorry…hi.” She stuttered.
Sebastian smiled. “Hey.”
“I thought you had left.”
“Yeah I did. I needed to get some space from the whole drama but I just returned now to pick my mom and sister. Apparently, none of them is ready to leave here so I might as well take my thoughtfulness somewhere else.”
Rosalyn chuckled light. “I guess they need to spend time with their persons.”
“So sorry you had to experience this mess being your first time around here.” Sebastian apologized.
“There is nothing to be sorry about. My family is just as controversial and we have our crazy moments.”
“So, since you aren’t doing much. Do you mind grabbing lunch with me?”
“That would be really nice. Thank you. I should probably get changed first.” She motioned towards the sweatshirt, jean and rabbit like slippers that she had on compared to Sebastian who looked not so casual with his check shirt and well primmed trouser and he had paired it with a white sneakers. She felt underdressed.
Sebastian chuckled almost reading her mind. “I promise you look great this way aside the slippers though. I love how simple you appear and that bun on your head, it’s cute.”
Rosalyn blushed hard. “Thank you. I’ll just change the slippers then.” She rushed off to her assigned room and grabbed a sneakers to wear too.
A guard open up the door for them to step out and just as they got down and walked towards Sebastian parked car, Rosalyn’s heart almost stopped when she saw a car drive in with Adriel dropping from the passengers side.
“You have got to be kidding me.” Rosalyn whispered.
“What’s the matter?” Sebastian inquired, but took a pause when his eyes landed on the stranger.
“Hey Rosa!” Adriel called out happily as she lifted her backpack and increased her pace towards Rosalyn.
Rosalyn stood mouth agape. “How in the world did you get to know this place?!”
Adriel smiled shyly as she tucked her hair behind her ear and she waved slightly at Sebastian. “Well, this might sound like a stalker sort of thing but your location was on and it made it easy to figure out where you might be.”
“But this is outrageous. Damn right it’s stalking and stop trying too hard to downplay it. What am I to tell Jaylen?” Rosalyn looked exhausted almost immediately.
“Oh you don’t need to worry about that.” Adriel waved slightly. “I would have a chat with him and it would be fine.” She turned around to have a clear view of the pack house. “This is exactly royalty! How did I not get to know this back in college?!”
Rosalyn snickered, uncertain of what to say or do. “It’s obvious he didn’t want you to know.”
Adriel flicked her tongue, nothing was going to keep her from getting along with Jaylen now that he was back home. Her finances and debts were really taking a dive and she would do anything to get back on track. And if that includes finding a way to win Jaylen’s heart then she is down to earth for it.
“You said it yourself that he is overwhelmed with the kingship and all of that. The both of us get along really well I am sure he would love my company.” She pulled at Rosalyn’s hands dramatically. “Thank you so much for your help, Rosa. It’s all because of you this surprise would be worthwhile. It wouldn’t have been a surprise anymore if I had called him to ask about the address.”
Rosalyn stared in confusion. It was beginning to seem like Adriel might be a psycho patient. Unknown to herself and Jaylen, everything she was saying, none of it made sense and to cap it all, Jaylen is going through so much than having something as cheesy as Adriel bother him. It wouldn’t be fair.
“You know what?” Rosalyn turned to Sebastian as she winked at him. “How about we take you to where Jaylen is lodged presently?”
“Is he not in?” Adriel asked.
“Jaylen went on a quick packs checking duty trip. Sebastian here would take you there.”
Adriel didn’t get to respond before a maid ran towards them. She panted lightly as she stared up at Rosalyn. “Alpha Jaylen would like to see you ma’am.” She announced innocently.
Adriel glanced at Rosalyn with a dubious look. Rosalyn almost slapped at her forehead as she slumped her shoulders.
“Well, fuck me!” She blurted out.
