EPISODE HUNDRED AND THIRTY
THEME: Family Reunion
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Rex had dropped off on the way to get to his own home. Rosalyn held Jaylen’s hand tightly as they walked into the pack house. Everyone who bumped into them stood still before getting a hold of themselves and in a hurry they bowed to their Alpha.
Rosalyn stared in amazement at how much respect was given to Jaylen. She was most mesmerized by the beauty of the pack house. It was a mixture of vintage and contemporary designs making the space a master piece.
Not letting go of her hand, Jaylen made his way towards his mother’s room with a hope that he wouldn’t have to meet Jayden on the way. His mind was too jumbled to have to brood over what he might need to say to his brother.
Jaylen knocked on his mother’s door as he smiled stiffly at the guards who looked a little bit too excited to see him. Rosalyn squeezed his hands tightly, a silent assurance that she was there with him. The moment the door got opened, Jaylen’s heart almost stopped when he met all of the women that mattered to him sitting on the bed. They looked like they were in the midst of a juicy gossip.
“To think I had envisioned meeting you all with a gloomy look on your faces while worrying about me. I feel so heartbroken.” Jaylen joked, almost getting knocked off his feet with Claire jumping on him.
“Jaylen!” Claire screamed at the top of her voice.
The noise pierced through Jaylen’s ears and it made him shiver at the effect. “Oh my goodness! Claire, do you always forget you aren’t so small anymore.” Jaylen chucked as he hugged her tightly.
“Jaylen.” She whispered into his ears. She was happy to see him.
“Good to see you baby sis.” Jaylen dropped off Claire.
He walked towards his mother and both of his grandmothers. By now they were all on their feet.
“Baby.” Meagan said with a happy grin on her face.
“Mom!” Jaylen muttered as he held onto her tightly. “I am sorry mom.”
“It’s okay my love. Thanks for coming back home.” She replied.
Gabriella seeing Jaylen was still busy with his mother had moved towards Rosalyn to hug her. “Rosalyn, you look so good. It has been like ages since I last saw you.”
Rosalyn giggled. “You act like we don’t see on video call almost everyday.” She jested. Since Jaylen returned to Chicago, Gabriella had made it a point of duty to check on Jaylen through her.
“Still isn’t the same thing, smarty-pants.” Gabriella replied as she laughed along.
“Jaylen sure didn’t mention how good looking you are.” Claire commented.
A blush crept on Rosalyn’s face. “Well it seems like everyone around here have a habit of appreciating people.”
“We know a beauty when we see one.” Gabriella added.
“I guess you don’t really miss me. I don’t either.” Jaylen mumbled behind his grandmother with a smirk on his face.
Gabriella snickered as she turned towards him. “You silly boy! Why would I miss you when you dumped me for Chicago.”
He laughed in response and embraced her. “I can’t deny some spicy sauces to explore in Chicago.”
“I see.” Gabriella mused as she pulled at his ear.
“Grandma!” Jaylen chuckled as he let go of his grandmother. He held out his hands to Rosalyn who was busy staring up at his mother. “Mom, meet Rosalyn my best friend.” Jaylen grinned at Rosalyn.
“Nice to finally meet you ma’am.” Rosalyn said as she stretched out her hand to Meagan for a handshake.
“Call me Meagan please. It’s so good to see you.” Meagan hugged her instead.
“Mrs Swift.” Rosalyn called out after getting released from Meagan’s hug.
“How are you, Rosalyn?” Mrs swift asked.
“I am fine. Thank you.” She replied.
Claire jumped up excitedly. “Now that Jaylen is back, I guess I can move around happily.”
“Let’s give Jaylen and Meagan some space. I am sure they have a whole lot to catch up on.” Gabriella said as she winked at Meagan.
“That’s right, I made some special dessert in the kitchen. Would be nice for some real comments.” Mrs swift added.
They all moved out of the room leaving Jaylen and his mother behind. “Come sit here with me baby.” Meagan held Jaylen’s hand and pulled him towards the bed.
Jaylen followed her lead and sat next to her. “How are you mom?”
She smiled. ” I guess I have adjusted to his absence knowing he has finally found some peace.”
Jaylen looked down at his locked palms. “I am sorry for how I reacted the last time mom. It was all just so overwhelming I didn’t know what I was suppose to do. It has been so much.”
Meagan held his hands. “You don’t have to apologize baby. I am at fault for thinking you should be fine with whatever you are fed with. Forgive me, Jaylen.”
He sighed. “I am back now mom. I am hoping I would be able to sort this mess and get on a good track with Jayden.”
“I trust you would. Come here.” She motioned at him to come into her arms.
Jaylen leaned into her as he inhaled his mother’s smell. It felt safe just being in her arms. He couldn’t understand why it took him so long to get back on with her. He could feel all of her emotions at the same time. Thoughts of how hard it would have been for her to cope with the death of his father and himself and his brother falling out crossed his mind. And it occurred to him that it wasn’t just about him, he wasn’t the only one having to go through so much.
Snuggling into her deeper, Jaylen didn’t realize how tired he was until sleep evaded him as he laid his head on his mother’s thighs.
Meagan felt on top of the world having her son in her arms. Memories of the day her twin boys had been birthed flooded her memory. She caressed his hair and massaged his scalps gently. Jaylen mumbled some incoherent words in his sleep. He looked really cute and it gladdened her heart. Carl had been right about everything falling back to order soon.
However something kept nagging her thoughts like it isn’t exactly fine yet. And she didn’t need to be told it would have something to do with Jayden. Saying a silent prayer, she hoped the Moon Goddess has a way out to help protect both of her sons from tearing at each other.
