EPISODE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-ONE
THEME: Jayden’s innermost desire
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Jayden stumbled towards the door the next day. He had gone out of the Fortress after accepting Liam’s long time invite to spend some quality time together. He had a terrible hangover cause they had been drinking all through the night and didn’t stop until the early hours of the morning when sleep had gotten the better of them.
In the large living room, Jayden squinted his eyes at the people all seated. It had been a long while since they had such gathering in the pack house. The last time had been when his father just passed away. Looking around the room, he stood straight when his eyes landed on Jaylen..
He couldn’t believe his eyes at who it was. So it was true. His wolf had been trying to signal to him all through the night that something fishy was on but his drunken state had his mind completely fucked. It never occurred to him that Jaylen would be returning considering how much he had sworn to never return to the Moon Stone Fortress.
Jayden blurted out a sickening laughter that startled all of them. “You should really learn to keep to your promise. I thought you swore to never return here.”
Jaylen glanced up at his brother. There was no telling that he had been drinking the previous night considering how unsteady he appeared. Jaylen felt safe that he had thought it wise to have his father’s long time friend Beta Julius and his family around, not forgetting Rex too. The only set of people absent are the ones who aren’t aware of his return yet. And the last thing he wanted was to have a brawl with his brother.
“You should sit down, Jayden. It’s nice to see you again.” He said.
Slowly Jayden nodded his head even as he glared at his brother. He settled on a seat a bit farther from the gathering. Due to his ego he wouldn’t have listened to his brother’s advice but his knees were giving him out already and there was a need to rest.
Jaylen stood up to address all of them. First, he looked towards Rosalyn who nodded for him to go ahead. Jaylen cleared his throat as he glanced around the room.
“Good day everyone. First, I would like to thank you all for coming at such short notice. And I would also like to seek for your forgiveness for how irrational I had acted the other day. It was just too many things to take in at the same time. The truth is, I haven’t had much peace of mind since I left the Fortress and I realize running won’t do me any good. So I have returned now to take the Alpha posi-”
Jayden’s scoff cut Jaylen short. “You would really think this is an Oscar speech you just attempted to give. Why would you return all of a sudden to take over something you already abandoned?”
“Jayden please listen to-”
“No! You fucking listen to me!” Jayden growled with anger lighting up in his eyes. “You listen. I was doing fine at the cynosure of all eyes not until you return acting like some holy shit that you aren’t. Your moment here has only added to my misery. No one, I mean no one speaks to me or respects me anymore. I walk around with people snickering at me all because of you Jaylen. I hate the fact that I have you as my twin and I should have murdered you when I had every chance to do so!”
A long gasp spread through the room as everyone looked on with an horrified expression on their faces. Jaylen looked unfazed as he stared hard at his brother.
Jayden sniffed. He got up, staggering as he tried to stand well on his feet. “Yes Jaylen, you heard me right. I should have killed you a long time ago. It’s my fault that you are still here having the guts to talk trash right now. Why won’t you just let this go and let me have what belongs to me?! This is my right! It is my place! Why the hell won’t you just let me have it?!” Jayden swallowed hard as he took in a deep breath. “You know what? It’s of no use arguing this with you. I am not letting this go and that’s it.” He affirmed.
Jaylen sighed. “Nothing can make me change my mind anymore, Jayden. I have decided that I would become the Alpha and to make things fair, you can become the President of my company but I will maintain my CEO position knowing you can handle it since you handle dad’s own so well.”
“How dare you toss at me such offer like a starving dog?! What the fuck do you all take me for?!” Jayden barked at everyone..
No one in the room made an attempt to react or say anything to what was going on between the brothers. It was almost like they weren’t present in the room.
Jayden rubbed at his face in frustration before he looked around the room. His eyes landed on Lorelei. “It’s obvious now that even if I force my way to become the Alpha everyone right here will turn against me including the pack members. At least I won’t be losing in all ways.” He walked towards Lorelei and knelt in front of her. “I would lose it all for you. Whatever you say right now I would do, for you I would take the offer of overseeing the companies if we can get married. We can right?”
Lorelei stared at Jayden like he had lost his mind. Jaylen looked most confused as he glanced at Lorelei for an explanation.
“What are you talking about Jayden?” Lorelei inquired as her face contorted in confused lines.
“Why are you talking this way? Is it because of him? I know it took you time to realize how you feel about me and now that we have it sorted, it’s okay to come out to everyone now.” Jayden looked expectant.
“Stop this Jayden. I never professed anything to you. Maybe you are drunk and just all up in your head please. Get away from me please.” Lorelei said with furrowed eyebrows.
Jayden stood up with a vicious glare on his face. “What? Did you fool me all along?”
“What do you mean? I was only being a friend because everyone else abandoned you. Why would I profess-”
Jayden didn’t let her finish with her words before landing a thunderous slap on her face.
