EPISODE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SIX
THEME: The Train Toys
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Meagan walked stealthily towards the lake as she ignored the attempts of the maids to stay with her. She had told them off. It had been long since she enjoyed a silent moment to herself. Taking in the fresh air the presence of the lake provided, she let out a long breath of relief.
Meagan felt happy after what seem to be a long time. The night before she had gotten a visit from Carl in her dream and he had told her not to worry about the situation of their boys. He clearly stated that it would be sorted eventually. Initially she was worried of how disappointed he might be in her for not keeping to her promise of ensuring the Fortress would be fine.
For weeks since her clash with Jayden, they haven’t really got talking with each other. She has no idea what to say to him. Gabriella had told her few weeks back of the rejection he has been experiencing from the so called people he thought were his friends.
Jayden’s ego gets the better of him and he would rather be on his own than admit he needed help. Meagan couldn’t deny the fact that she missed her son so much but at the same time it is a moment of healing for the both of them.
Moving closer to the edge of the lake, Meagan dipped her hands into the cold water that made her shiver lightly but she didn’t take her hands out of it.
Lorelei was passing by the hallway when she noticed Megan from the exposed window from afar. Thinking Meagan might be intending to do something weird, she ran back down and made her way towards the lake.
“Luna!” Lorelei screamed as she ran next to her. Meagan was startled. “You shouldn’t do this to yourself!”
Meagan got a picture of what Lorelei was thinking and a smile formed on her face. “Hey Lorelei, how are you honey?”
Lorelei couldn’t respond as her eyes caught sight of Meagan’s hands in the water. “You will freeze out aunt. Don’t do that.” Her doctor instincts kicked in as she pulled Meagan’s hands out of the water.
“You don’t have to do that, I was quite fine with it.” Meagan pouted.
Taking a moment to observe her, Lorelei could sense the state of mind she was in. She helped Meagan up and she steadied her stance. “This won’t do aunt, let’s go back to your room.”
“I am fine, Lorelei. I promise. I know it might seem like I am acting crazy, but I just want to sit out here and experience what being out and surrounded by nature feels like again. And I don’t mind catching a frost.” She beamed.
Lorelei smiled back, surrendering as she sat back down first and she hugged her knees against her chest.
Meagan mirrored her sitting position. “Can I ask you this question? I haven’t really had such discussion with you before but I would really love to know this time around.”
Nervousness peeked at Lorelei’s mind at the Lina’s words. “Ok.”
“Why have you been visiting Jayden for a while now?”
“Oh.” Lorelei murmured. “I felt like he is being neglected and left alone. I just wanted to be a friend and help him out of his depressive state.”
“That is thoughtful of you, but you do know this might not end well right?”
“Are you talking about Jaylen? Jaylen obviously doesn’t want me but that isn’t the reason I am being nice to Jayden. I just want to support him.”
Meagan chuckled. “I will tell you a short story about my boys when they were about six. The both of them have always had distinct characters from the very beginning but their father and I are admittedly nonchalant about it. There was this train toys gifted to them by my brother, Benjamin. I remember it well because it was one of the most colorful and humongous toy the both of them ever had. It turned out Jayden ruined his, probably stomped on it when he was angry or had been careless with it. So whenever Jaylen played with his, Jayden would throw a fit and put the whole house in a frenzy. Jaylen being the sweet child he is, handed his toy to Jayden after making him promise that he would always return it to the rightful owner. Jaylen took it upon himself at that little age to play with other toys just to see his brother happy.” She paused to take in a deep breath. “However, Jayden became so greedy and refused to let it go. Whenever Jaylen requests to also play with his toy, then trouble would loom and Jayden would refuse to give it back. Jaylen got angry one certain day and requested for his toy, but as always his brother didn’t give it to him. To drive home his point, Jayden broke the toy right in front of Jaylen which deprived the both of them access to it.”
Lorelei gasped. “What?”
“I should have been vigilant of this sort of behaviors. They are both my sons and I love my babies so much, but I guess it is high time I stop covering up for Jayden. I am sorry if this illustration is more regarded to an object but you do know Jaylen loves you very much Lorelei and everything happening is too overwhelming for him. Jaylen has always been thoughtful and would eventually do the right thing. So your attempt at playing nice to Jayden, knowing how he thinks of you might breed trouble. And you know fully well we aren’t over the Alpha deal yet. I love you like my own Lorelei and your mother is a true sister to me.”
Meagan stood up. “It would be nice if you don’t let Jayden get the wrong idea. Don’t get entangled in this brothers mess again.”
When Lorelei didn’t say a word, Meagan cleared her throat. “This stroll out feels so good. I should go make some nice dinner with my mom and Gabriella. Those two have been having a good time without me.”
Lorelei stood up to face her. She shook her head in acknowledgement.
“Take care of yourself, Lorelei.” Meagan kissed her on the forehead before she walked away.
Lorelei’s hair stood still at the back of her neck. She hoped for the first time Meagan might be wrong about her assertion. The twins were only six then and things were different now. And she had made it clear to Jayden that she was only being a friend even though she knew how into her he was. Lorelei tried to convince herself that her decision wouldn’t lead to any sort of trouble.
Lorelei looked back at the side of the hallway that leads to Jayden’s room as she made a decision. Lorelei gulped hard as she dusted her butt. She retreated to the pack house exit. It is better safe than sorry.
