EPISODE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE
THEME: A week away
ROSARIO HOTEL, CHICAGO.
Jaylen stood by the door contemplating on the last minute if he should just return to the elevator and head back home or to his office. At the same time his legs seem to want to stay put there.
All through the night, he had been having a second thought on coming to see Rex. On a hand is his ego, on the other hand is his need to do what is actually right but the thoughts of him having to face Jayden again didn’t sit right with him. At the same time there was no way he would forgive himself if anything went wrong at the Fortress because of his insistence on staying back.
The door burst open showing an extremely sweaty Rex with a stony look on his face. “Took you long enough.” He muttered, leaving the door open and Jaylen stuck by the doorway.
Jaylen eventually let himself in when he realized Rex did horribly at being a good host. “You sure have a stinky attitude. Why the hell are you shirtless this early?”
Rex raised a fixated brow. “I want to believe you do not have any eye problems. It won’t be fair to have a disabled Alpha. I am exercising and I just did about a hundred pushups just in case you have no idea what that means.” He did push-up to show him.
“Wow. Are you on your period? You are acting so cranky.” Jaylen stated. He grabbed the left over whiskey left on a small stool. Jaylen poured it into the glass next to it and he gulped the content letting it burn his throat.
Rex took an unexpected pause. “I never knew you had a thing for early morning drunkenness.” He said.
Jaylen ignored him as he settled into the only chair in the room. “I refuse to be drawn into your sour mood this morning. It doesn’t look good on you one bit, even though your skin seems to tone up with your attitude.”
Rex rolled his eyes as he sat on the bed. “Why are you here?” He pushed at him.
Rex didn’t need to be told what Jaylen had come to see him for because The Moon Goddess had hinted him on his arrival. It was high time for Jaylen to return home if not things might really go out of hand if he isn’t nearby to carry out his assigned duty.
“Don’t act like you don’t know why I am here.” Jaylen hissed in irritation.
“I would love to hear it from you. I don’t live in your mind so I can’t know what exactly is going on in the head of yours.”
Jaylen only spoke up after two minutes of silently processing his thoughts and right words to express himself. “It’s getting worse, Rex. I have been having some episodes of passing out randomly and not waking up till the next day.”
“And this happens when?”
“Whenever I have some sort of epiphany as regards the Fortress.”
“This were the things I feared would happen and it was the reason behind my trip to this place. Need I tell you that if you refuse to heed the Moon Goddess duty assigned to you, there is a ninety five percent chance that you would lose your mind.”
Jaylen let out a throaty laugh. “I am already losing it as it is.”
Rex stayed quiet for a while. “Are you ready to return home now?” He asked.
Jaylen stood up, pacing the small area with his hands behind his back. He inhaled deeply. “If I had my way Rex, I would never return to the Moon Stone Fortress. I have had just about enough of all of this mess. But truth be told, I have only had a whole week of rest since I got back to Chicago. Every other sleep I get to have, be it at noon or night I end up getting drawn into some horrific sights that feels so real.”
“This is what the Moon Goddess is trying to show you. No one likes to be dragged into some obligations. However, when there is no other way out, you have to do just what is necessary to keep it all sane.”
“How about Jayden?”
“I should give you a heads up on that, be ready to have an actual war that would involve yourself and your brother. Whatever happens I am hoping you would be able to handle it with enough wisdom.” Rex answered.
“Your words aren’t soothing my worry.”
Rex shrugged. “Not like I intend for it to.”
Jaylen glared at him. “What’s the next step now?”
“Go pack every of your things. We would return to the Fortress in a week time.”
Jaylen stopped pacing. “Why not tomorrow or some sort-”
Rex cute in. “Do you really want to have me blamed for rushing you out and not letting you finish up with your work on time? Because it appears that is what you enjoy doing the most.”
“Did I ever mention that to you?”
“I want to believe you don’t have a short term memory.”
“Shut up Rex! I get your point, enough of the diss. You are so gross.”
Rex laughed lightly. “Why does it always have to end with me being the bad one? Right here you stood and said all that you thought of me and here you are acting like a victim.”
“You are the one being pathetic at the moment.” Jaylen looked around the room. “How terrible of a host can you be?”
Rex looked insulted. “Didn’t you just serve yourself a glass of whiskey now?”
Jaylen faked a gasp. “How can you say that to your future Alpha?”
Rex let out a snort. “It’s not like you have really attained the post. Please I have got a lunch date with a nice looking lady. Mind helping me out with what to wear?”
Amusement crossed Jaylen’s face. “Why do I feel like Rosalyn is the nice looking lady?”
“Still isn’t any of your business. She is showing me round the city.”
“I would gladly do that with you.”
“Ewww, I need more of a feminine touch around. Some sort of soft smile and scent…and not you.” Rex shook his head in disagreement.
“I see where this is headed and why you need a week more to fall in love.”
Rex snorted as he headed towards the closet where his unpacked bag laid trying to find something to wear. Jaylen shook his head at the clothes Rex threw out.
“Not even a teenager would look back at you with this combos. You know what let me take you for a ride.” Jaylen offered.
Rex sighed in surrender. “Fine! I will just get dressed quickly.”
“You owe me one now!” Jaylen winked as he walked away.
“I haven’t even made up my mind yet!” Rex bickered back.
Jaylen laughed to his heart content when he heard Rex mumbling under his breath and whining of how much of a dramatic person he is.
