EPISODE HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN
THEME: Missing Jaylen
BETA JULIUS HOME
Sebastian had his eyes on Lorelei, watching her keenly as she played with her food. It had been on for weeks, all she does is toss her food around and look bleak all day long. His anger kept piling as he hated how much hurt the Damien brothers have caused his sister. Lorelei had always been the jovial and playful one in the house, getting on not just his nerves but everyone she ran into and now she has become a shadow of herself.
“You would thin out at this rate honey. Why won’t you just eat?” Julius muttered, glancing at his daughter with a worried look on his face.
Hazel let out a sigh. She paused her meal to look at Lorelei. “I knew you would act up this way again. It’s why I called Hermione over to spend some time with you.”
“I really don’t want to talk mom.” Lorelei said. She looked displeased.
“Are you going to waste your life then? You are just twenty one and here you are withering away for someone who didn’t stop to think about you.” Sebastian raved.
Lorelei glared at him. “It was too overwhelming for him. Jaylen isn’t like that!” She defended.
Sebastian scoffed. “You think you can fool me? Are you still putting your hope to something that would never happen? You should get a hang of yourself and try to get a life!”
“Sebastian!” Hazel frowned at him. “Don’t talk to your sister like that. You don’t know how much hurt she is enduring.” She cautioned.
“And you think it’s fine by me that she wallows in self pity everyday mom? It has been one month! So why won’t you just let it be?!” He argued, his veins popping out at every said word.
“That’s enough, Seb. I won’t have you yell at my wife like that!” Julius rebuked.
Letting down his spoon in anger, Sebastian walked out on them as mumbled some incoherent words. Lorelei sniffed as she tried to hold back the tears that threatened to spill anytime soon.
“I am sorry.” She muttered.
Hazel stood up, went to her side and hugged her tightly. “No baby, it’s not your fault. I understand how you feel. I just wish you wouldn’t put your whole life on a hold just for this please.”
“Good morning.” Hermione cheered happily as she walked towards the dining area.
“You look breathtaking, Hermione. Fancy telling me what your secret is?” Julius teased.
Hermione giggled. “If I have to tell you then it wouldn’t be much of a secret again.”
Julius nodded his head as he let out a deep chuckle. “Right.”
“Thanks for coming.” Hazel said, as they both hugged.
“Anytime aunt. Hey you.” Hermione nudged Lorelei by the side.
“Hey.” Lorelei replied weakly. “Let’s head to my room. I didn’t know you would be coming this quick.”
“You look horrible.” Hermione stated point blank as she dumped herself into the bed.
Hermione was tired of having both of her friends in a depressed mood. Claire seem to be getting a hang of it though but Lorelei seem stuck. It had been a while since they hung out together and it was becoming lonely without them.
“It would have been better if you had left with Jaylen. I would have gotten used to your absence by then, but not you being here and you are still not actively present.” She whined.
Lorelei inhaled deeply as she sat next to her. “I can’t help to not think about him, Hermione. Do you think I made a mistake by refusing to go with him?”
Hermione sat up, resting her upper body on her elbows. “I can’t say. Whatever was running through your head at that moment he had asked you must have been considered right. If you had gone for it, I wouldn’t say you made a mistake either.”
“Do you think he has forgotten about me?”
“Can you not ask me questions like I am the Fortress Greatest Seer? I know you are hurting Lorelei but you can’t keep doing this to yourself. You deserve better and when I say better, you deserve someone who would be ready to do anything to keep you.” Hermione sighed. She stretched out both of her hands. “Come here.”
Lorelei leaned into her friend with her eyes heavy with tears. She missed Jaylen so much. Every night, the thoughts of him keeps her awake. She couldn’t help but wonder if he has gotten involved with someone else. Every day, her free times are spent on googling the activities of The Chicago’s Most Wanted Young Billionaire. But every searches comes up empty and it was obvious Jaylen knows how to keep his life private at some point.
“He would come back for you, Lorelei. One thing I am certain of is that Jaylen is crazy about you.”
Lorelei shook her head in disagreement. “If that is the case he would have come for me. It’s been a month already, Hermione.” A tear slipped down her cheek.
“As much as I hate to say this, I would for your sake. Love is patience. And if you can’t handle being patient then I would love to book you a flight ticket right this minute and smuggle you into Chicago.”
A small laughter escaped Lorelei’s lips. “Stop talking like a bandit. We broke up Hermione. Don’t forget that.”
Hermione scoffed. “People who love each other don’t have an actual meaning of break up in their dictionary. You both would be back together. I would bet my life savings on it, but I unfortunately don’t have one. Spending my dad’s life savings is all I care about.” Hermione grinned.
Lorelei didn’t hold back her laughter anymore. It had been long she had an actual good laugh. “You are something else Hermione.” She mused, holding onto her belly.
“I am glad I could make you laugh.”
“What has Claire been up to?”
“You would be surprised herself and Ron have been getting in the groove as of late. I would like to believe Juno’s absence is the reason behind all of this. It would really be stupid of Ron to act otherwise towards Claire when the love of his life does return. I would really twig his neck for real this time.” Hermione mumbled.
“I didn’t realize Juno isn’t around.” Lorelei said.
“Yeah, she left with her dad to see the only sibling he has who has been ill as of late and probably needs every member of her family next to her. They have been gone for about two weeks and some days now. I do hope everything is fine even though I am not an actual fan of Juno.”
Lorelei nodded. “As for Claire, she seems happy and I doubt if Ron is just taking her for a ride. Shouldn’t you know your brother better than anyone else?”
Hermione snorted. “The only person I know better is myself. Anything that has to do with those brothers of mine, I really refuse to be involved.”
Lorelei laughed. “I didn’t realize how much I miss you, Hermione. Thanks for coming.” She embraced her.
“Anytime baby. Now, if you really appreciate me coming, you would do me a favor and gear up cause we are going for a run in the woods. Shift your ass baby!”
Lorelei couldn’t turn down the offer. She felt better after a long while and a run in the woods might actually be the best means of therapy for her.
