EPISODE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN
THEME: His Nemesis
MOON STONE GROUP, CHICAGO.
Jaylen’s wolf whimpered as he watched the whole place burn into ashes and his fur filled with blood that obviously came from different bodies. Some wolves made their way towards him looking vicious but just when he attempted to stand up and make an attack, right in front of him Lorelei and his mother both in human form had their head ripped off with their blood spluttering on him. Jayden braced himself up slowly and he howled loudly as he ran towards their lifeless bodies. But the more he ran the farther they were from him.
“Lorelei!” Jaylen yelled out from his sleep, panting really hard as sweat trailed his forehead and palms. He searched around viciously, trying to decipher his environ. He let out a sign of relief when he realized he was seated in a relaxing chair in the office.
“Fuck! It’s a dream!” He spat.
Jaylen sat up, feeling a bit hazy as he tried to steady himself. He closed his eyes tightly to lesson the headache that was showcasing itself. After glancing down at his wrist watch, he realized that he had only been asleep for thirty minutes.
Jaylen and Rosalyn had a busy week and were working on a new business conjunction that has made them stay late hours in the office. He hadn’t been going home for days.
A month since he left the Fortress and it felt like he had almost forgotten about all that ensued until two weeks ago when he started having horrible nightmares. The images are terrifying, everyone he cared about in the Fortress were always getting killed in the end and him being unable to save them. The vision scares and bothers him at the same time. The first time he had the dream it didn’t quite bother him, as he thought it was him putting too much in mind but then it became more consistent. And for the first time since it started, he was having such horrific dream in the day.
Rosalyn had quickly stepped out to grab them lunch, insisting she would love to go herself rather than send anyone or make an order. Jaylen on his path had decided to take a quick nap. He only ended up being entangled in a daylight nightmare.
Jaylen headed towards the restroom to wash up his face. He turned on the faucet, as the water dropped, he stared at himself in the mirror. Something didn’t feel right and he could tell in his spirit because his wolf was restless. He tried not to relate it to something happening at the Fortress but his mind kept coming back to it.
“I should see a psychologist tomorrow. Seem like my thoughts are getting into my head too much.” He said out loud. Turning off the water, he returned into the office to find Adriel with Rosalyn.
“Hi Jaylen.” Adriel smiled at him.
“Hey.” Jaylen mused in return with a childish grin on his face as they hugged.
Adriel always had that effect on him. For days now they have been hanging out a bit more and he enjoyed every bit of her company. Just as Jaylen made an attempt to sit in a hurry, he felt a sharp pain in his head that knocked him off balance and had him slumping into the chair.
“Are you okay?” Adriel and Rosalyn asked at the same time as they both rushed to hold him still.
Jaylen nodded. “Yeah. I am fine. I must have missed a foot.” He lied with a feigned smile on his face.
What he wasn’t telling anyone was that he feels lightheaded and dizzy every time he had the dream. Sometimes he loses consciousness at home and ends up passing out on the floor only to wake up long minutes later.
Jaylen shut his eyes tightly again to regain his focus. He reopened them and smiled a bit too wide. “So, what do we have here?” He mused, opening up the lunch packs Rosalyn had brought in.
“I am sure you like tacos. It’s why I bought an extra, because I am so not sharing mine with you.” Rosalyn said.
Jaylen grinned at her. He had an habit of making Rosalyn break her tacos in half for him after rushing through his. His love for tacos knows no bounds.
“I might take a little bit of it because Adriel is here and she might like tacos. Don’t you Adriel?” He threw his hands out when Rosalyn glared at him.
“Whatever!” She mumbled.
Adriel laughed heartily. “You both are something else. You don’t have to worry about me. I am just fine with the fries Rosalyn offered me.”
“That’s a relief.” Jaylen muttered shamelessly.
Rosalyn laughed at his honesty. “You are so shameless.”
Jaylen winked at her. “You do know that I can be shameless for tacos…I don’t mind.” Everyone laughed. “So how did you bump into Adriel?”
Adriel replied as she chewed on the fries. “We met at the elevator.”
“Oh nice. I wasn’t expecting to see you though.” Jaylen said.
“Yeah, I was around here and thought to drop by for a quick hello.” Adriel replied.
“You…” Jaylen was about to say something when Rosalyn pinched him while Adriel wasn’t looking.
“That’s so thoughtful of you.” Rosalyn replied on his behalf. Knowing for a fact that Jaylen was about to say something dumb.
“I was just…” He tried to argue, but changed his tone when he got a vicious glare from Rosalyn. “You look really pretty today, Adriel.” He commented.
“I told her that too.” Rosalyn added.
A crimson color fanned her cheeks almost immediately. “Oh my goodness! You both are something.” Her eyes went towards the table that was filled with different files. “I can see you both were busy before the lunch break. I will check by later when you are less busy, Jaylen.” She stood up to leave.
“Yeah…. we have to finish up some files before the week runs out.” Jaylen replied.
“Would you call me?”
Jaylen stood up to match her height. “Sure. I will definitely call you. Do take care.”
“You should start reading how to talk to a woman.” Rosalyn growled at him the moment Adriel left the office.
“Why do you sound like I committed a grievous offense?” Jaylen countered.
“You almost asked her why she didn’t put a call through you before coming.”
“But I thought-”
She cut him short. “But you thought wrong. Please let’s go back to work.”
“I am not done eating.” He sneered at her.
Rosalyn sat in front of him with a raised brow. “What happened to you the other time?”
Jaylen sighed, admitting to himself that it was about time he told Rosalyn. “So, I have been experiencing some sort of-” He didn’t get to finish when a knock came from the door.
The secretary peeped in from the door. “I am really sorry to bother you sir. I would have called but the intercom is acting up. There is someone here to see you, says he is Tau Upsilon Rex. Should I let him in?”
Jaylen bit on his lips as he remembered the figure who owned that name. “Please let him in.”
“Alright sir.” The secretary replied.
“And here comes my nemesis.” Jaylen huffed.
