EPISODE NINETY FIVE
THEME: A misunderstanding
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Jaylen’s grin spread widely when he sighted Lorelei sitting with Hermione. Jaylen held on to Juno’s hands that was wrapped around his arm. He walked towards them with Benjamin and Collins trailing behind him.
“Hey mama.” Jaylen untangled himself from Juno and he leaned down to kiss Lorelei.
Lorelei tried to simmer her anger down and not have to say something she might eventually regret at Jaylen. What she would never seem to understand is why Juno goes everywhere with him and she the actual girlfriend is always missing.
“Pretty ladies.” Benjamin cooed at Hermione and Lorelei. “Mind if we join you for breakfast?”
Hermione stood up like she intended to give up her chair to him. “You are very much welcome. Good morning, Uncle Benjamin.” Hermione grinned as she signaled to one of the waiters to provide more chairs.
In a minute they had all settled, looking through at the menu for breakfast except for Juno who had came up with an excuse and left their midst. Jaylen watched as Lorelei played with her eggs and bacon.
Slowly he leaned forward to her. “What’s the matter baby?”
Lorelei nodded her head, trying not to appear too clingy. “I am fine. Thanks.” Her voice sounded shaky.
“Hmm! This is awesome!” Collins noted as he took the first bite of the pancakes he had ordered for.
Benjamin nodded in agreement. “Jaylen definitely knows the onions of this fortress! I don’t think I have ever tasted something this nice back home!” He commented.
“He introduced this place to you?” Hermione looked impressed.
Jaylen scoffed. “You really shouldn’t be minding these men. They literally dragged me down here and Juno had fortunately come to my rescue to enable them find a place of rest.” He chuckled.
Collins swallowed hard. “At least you got to laugh and here you are with the woman you care about. I guess that’s what you need at the moment.” He chortled.
Benjamin got into a steady conversation with Hermione while Collins joined in too as they ravaged their food. Jaylen tried his very best to get Lorelei’s attention but she still didn’t pay him any mind.
“I want to talk to you. Can we talk in private for a moment?” He whispered into her ear.
Lorelei shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t want to step out yet.”
“Please.” Jaylen muttered. He was feeling like a huge weight was resting on him and it needed to be lifted up.
Lorelei huffed. She stood up and dragged herself outside with Jaylen tailing her behind. “So what now?” She blurted when he joined her outside.
Taking a keen look at her, Jaylen noticed her countenance. She looked angry. He also sensed that Lorelei was ready to act bratty but he didn’t expect her to be so insensitive to his feelings and the stress he was undergoing at the moment.
“Can you give me one reason why you are acting this way?” He asked her.
“Why do you care? Since you want to spend your supposed time on getting yourself together with Juno!” Lorelei’s voice raised to its peak.
Jaylen snapped his lips. “Is this a joke right now?”
Lorelei remained adamant as she thinned her lips. “You tell me? Here I was wallowing away and beating myself up for causing the rift between yourself and your brother. But it seem like I was wrong to even worry in the first place.”
All of a sudden, anger surged through Jaylen at her words. “Really? I can’t believe you are doing this right now. Are you listening to yourself, Lorelei!” He bit hard on his tongue when his voice was pitching up. He didn’t want to raise his voice at her.
Lorelei gasped out in surprise as she put a hand to her chest. “Are… are… you really raising your voice at me all because of Juno?” She snorted.
Jaylen was boiling now and he couldn’t control his emotions. “Lorelei! Can you keep Juno’s name out of your mouth?! She hasn’t done anything wrong!”
Lorelei snapped at him. “Oh really?!” She folding her arms against her chest. “Oh really now! Then you tell me what it is?!”
Staring in disbelief, Jaylen kicked against the hard floor as he tried to swallow whatever got stuck in his throat. He had thought Lorelei would be considerate enough to not discuss irrelevant things in his ears. Jaylen would have never thought he would get to see her at the diner. His uncles were the only reason he had stepped out of the confines of the pack house. The plan was to keep to himself indoor and work all through the rest of the day.
His heart had fluttered the moment he sighted her and he realized how much better it would be in Lorelei’s arms but all she did was give him a cold shoulder. Jaylen had thought she was bothered about the fight between himself and Jayden. It hurt him really bad that Lorelei would think such silly thoughts considering the situation they were in.
Jaylen rubbed at his forehead as he tried to pull her to himself. “Please don’t do this baby.” His voice pleaded.
Lorelei jerked out of his hold. “Don’t you dare touch me. I won’t be taken for a fool by anyone not even you.”
“Can you shut the hell up and listen!” Jaylen blurted. It was obvious that at this point he couldn’t hold back anymore. Lorelei stepped back as she stared wide eyed at him. She didn’t expect the sudden outburst.
Jaylen almost hit himself for raising his voice again. He didn’t want to hurt Lorelei in anyway but she was making it hard for him. “I thought we had gone beyond this. Huh? I thought we have come to a mutual understanding as regards this issue. I had no idea Juno was going to be here. My uncles practically dragged me out of the house. And we only saw Juno making her way in just like us too. How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t harbor such feelings for Juno? I don’t play around with people’s emotions. I am not Jayden!” His eyes glazed over with tears. “I thought you would understand the pain I am going through at the moment. But I guess I was wrong.” He sniffed.
Glancing over at him, Lorelei could see the strain in his eyes. She blinked several times trying to conjure the right words to say but the moment she opened her mouth to speak, Jaylen stopped her.
“You don’t have to say anything. I understand that I was being a bother but you don’t have to worry. I would leave now. Please tell my uncles to meet me back home.” And with those words being said, Jaylen stormed off into the streets and he picked up a fast pace.
The moment Jaylen got into the streets, he flagged down a taxi in a hurry and without looking back at Lorelei he entered into it.
Lorelei stood transfixed on the spot, as she stared out into the street with tears flowing from her eyes. When she noticed people close by were giving her weird look, she wiped it off, calmed her breathing down and she wondered what excuse she would give the others inside as to why Jaylen had left.
Luckily, none of them argued or ask her anything else when she got back to the table. The three of them had immersed themselves in a sort of conversation that got their attention so bad and they didn’t bother too much about Jaylen leaving earlier than planned.
Lorelei mumbled her goodbyes and she left the diner at a close run. Lorelei got into her car with tears blinding her eyes as she drove home.
