EPISODE NINETY SIX
THEME: Handful Lorelei
BETA JULIUS HOME
Hazel scoffed at the cloth she wore because it didn’t seem much appealing to her. Her husband had bought it and she wouldn’t dare to refuse it or demean the cloth. Beta Julius had a sore eye for fashion but he tries really hard to get Hazel nice things. Deciding to not appear ungrateful, Hazel would always thank him gleefully and wear the clothes with very much inner grumbling and lament. Not like anyone of her family would listen to her complaint and their excuses would be that she whines too much and can never be satisfied. Those words hurts though but it was the exact truth.
Hazel checked the time. It was just some early hours into the morning. It was her day off and she appeared to be really bored. If Meagan wasn’t in such a bad state, they would have hung out for some shopping or brunch together. Hazel scoffed as she looked around the house. Julius and Sebastian had gone off to work while she has no idea of Lorelei’s whereabouts.
Uncertain of what to do, Hazel descended the stairs with the hope that an inspiration would come as she stared at the front door. Hazel settled on the couch, picked up her phone which she had placed next to her and she dialed Brianna.
‘I was worried you would also ditch me and leave me lonely in this frustrating world.’ Hazel blabbed dramatically into the phone.
Brianna grunted into the receiver. ‘You act like you have been left alone all your life.’
Hazel rolled her eyes. ‘I should just come to the infirmary. I really can’t stand this noiseless house.’
‘Don’t you dare!’ Brianna snapped.
Hazel groaned in frustration. She had been spending too much time at the infirmary and it was beginning to take a toll on her. Her family have no idea what was going on with her, but only Brianna knows that Hazel doesn’t observe her day offs to avoid staying alone in the house after her husband and children might have left home for their daily activities.
‘Come on, Brianna! This is more depressing to me! How about we do it this way, I come to the infirmary and just help you out with whatever needs to be done. Or I just follow you around and do nothing.’
Hazel could feel Brianna shaking her head vigorously in refusal.
“No. You and I know that’s a blatant lie. The moment you step into the infirmary, you would get something back bending to do. If you really don’t want me to snitch on you, it would be nice if you just find a sleeping pill and get some beauty rest till evening.’
“But it’s still too early to indulge in such sleep.’ Hazel kept whining.
Brianna snickered. ‘My mouth really hurts right now because of the constant repeat of myself. Stay at home and have a good rest.’
‘Please stop acting like you don’t enjoy talking to me.’
‘Yeah I enjoy it but maybe not every time. Especially times like this.’
They both laughed at the same time. Hazel was about to say something when the door clicked open and Lorelei walked into the house looking like the entire burden of the universe rested on her shoulders.
‘Let me call you back Brianna.’ She said into the phone before hanging up.
Lorelei pouted at the sight of her mother. The tears she had been holding up all through the ride flowed freely like an opened dam.
“Baby!” Hazel embraced her tightly as Lorelei walked right into her arms. “What’s the matter honey?”
Lorelei didn’t respond as she kept wailing. Hazel decided to let her cry to her very satisfaction. After what seem like a couple of long minutes, Lorelei calmed down and she began to sniff.
“What happened baby?” Hazel asked as she looked straight into her daughter’s eyes.
Lorelei blinked back tears again as she sniffed every half seconds. “I think Jaylen has called it quit with me.” She cried out loudly again.
Hazel raised an eyebrow. She was in a state of confusion. “Why would you think that?”
“Because he walked away from me mom!”
“Was it because of the brawl he had with his brother?”
Lorelei gulped hard as she stared at her mother. “No mom, that wasn’t the case at all.”
“Tell me baby.”
Not knowing how to start, Lorelei looked around the room with a more confused look on her face. “I accused him of being too close with Juno.”
A deep frown creased her mother’s forehead. “What do you mean by that?” Hazel asked.
Lorelei heaved a sigh as she stared down at her hands. “I felt insecure of the closeness between Jaylen and Juno. I can’t seem to understand such closeness, and it is so obvious that Jaylen cares for her so much. He had abandoned our dates just to spend time with Juno. Today, after I had called to ask how he was doing, Jaylen had responded that he needed time for himself. I was surprised when I sat drinking coffee with Hermione and he walked right in with Juno holding onto him like her life depended on it. So-”
Hazel cut in. “So you got angry and accused him of cheating on you. He felt hurt that you couldn’t be sensitive enough as to how he is feeling as a result of yesterday’s happening.”
Lorelei wiped at her face as she looked straight at her mother. “Perhaps… did Jaylen call you?”
Hazel chuckled in response. “I know all of these things and as your mother I can tell just how you reacted. So right now, rather than call him to apologize you have been wallowing in self pity.”
“Mom! Are you supporting Jaylen right now?!” Lorelei wailed.
Hazel shook her head in disapproval. “Not at all baby and I am also not trying to fault you for him. I just need you to understand that it can’t be all about you every time. And when you love, there is a need to trust and have faith in your partner. Jaylen and Juno have been friends with each other all their lives. They practically grew up as siblings. Jayden and Jaylen have been Juno’s protector since birth just like Sebastian is to you. I don’t think you expect Sebastian to love you any less just because he has found a mate.”
“But-”
“No buts baby. You do know you are a handful and I blame your father and brother for that.”
Lorelei pouted hard. One of the reasons she doesn’t share much with her mother is how blunt she always is when advising someone.
“So what should I do now?” Lorelei asked with a remorseful look on her face.
Hazel shrugged. “Just wait it out and give him some space. The time you need to apologize would come just give him some time for now please.”
“Are you sure he wouldn’t call it off with me?”
“I have seen his eyes, he loves you too much to let you go.” Hazel replied.
Lorelei nodded her head slowly as she leaned further into her mother’s embrace. She shut her eyes tightly to keep the negative thoughts away. Jaylen isn’t going to call the relationship off.
