MOON STONE FORTRESS
Hermione hissed loudly as she turned her coffee. “I still don’t want to believe everything that happened last night.”
The three friends had gathered at their favorite cafe for an early morning wake up coffee. Claire and Lorelei look like shit more like they have been crying their eyes out all night. Lorelei had tears in her eyes as she sipped the coffee, she felt like the main cause of all of the problems that ensued. To make matters worse Jayden showing up at her house to threaten her had scared her so bad.
“I do hope Sebastian really whooped Jayden’s ass for coming at you like that?” Hermione asked as she kissed her teeth. Everything annoyed her.
The most gloomy person amongst them was Claire because she was having a hard time wrapping her head around the happenings. Just when she thought her family were coming back together and things were beginning to really fall into place, Jayden had to act monstrous yet again. If only she could do anything then she would have slapped some sense into him.
Lorelei watched as Claire gripped the coffee cup so tightly. “What’s wrong Claire?” She asked, driving Claire out of her sea of thoughts.
Claire just simply hummed in response.
“Can you say something please.” Hermione pleaded.
Claire shrugged. “What do you expect me to say? That I am so glad with all the happenings in my life right now?”
“No one is saying you should be glad, we are only expecting you to say how you feel and get some relief. Don’t try to act sassy here lady.” Hermione warned.
“Stop acting so bitchy Hermione. Do you not have a soft bone inside of you?” Ron glared at his sister and with a large smile on his face he turned to Claire. “Do you mind if I seat next to you?”
Claire nodded in approval as she heaved lightly. Hermione rolled her eyes like a gangster. “What the hell are you doing here?”
Ron shrugged. “Can’t I get coffee when I want to?”
“All the way from the base to this place?” She pressed on.
“Any stress for a good coffee, but I came from home thanks.” Ron snickered. “So sorry ladies, pardon my manners. How are you today Lorelei and you Claire?”
The both of them whispered a fine, which obviously seem like they weren’t. Ron shifted towards Claire trying to lighten her mood. Lorelei stared at Hermione this time, the both of them stared wide eyed realizing that Claire was indeed worried. Despite Ron’s attempt to get her to smile and look positive but Claire remained gloomy which isn’t suppose to be so considering how much she likes being around Ron.
“Would you like to go to the fun park just to lighten you up?” Ron asked with his face almost close to Claire’s own.
Hermione snorted. “I don’t think she wants to Ron. Leave her alone.”
Ron bleated at her. “Please avoid me. And until Claire responds that she isn’t interested only then would I take my leave.”
Claire smiled weakly at him. “How about we do this some other time?”
Ron shook his head in disagreement. “How about we do it on this very day?”
“You won’t give up would you?” Claire giggled.
“No.” He replied.
“Give me a minute then, I will get to the restroom and return.” Claire said as she excused herself, taking her mini bag along with her.
Ron watched as she walked away. Honestly, if Juno hadn’t come to him to ask for a favor he wouldn’t have tailed Claire to the cafe. To his surprise Juno had been the first to call him this morning saying to help her. Ron felt an adrenaline rush, ever since he has been crushing on Juno which he had never actually hidden this was the first time she would actually ask for help and he didn’t hesitate to say yes. Juno said she was worried about Claire getting sad over the occurrence from last night and thought it would be nice to have actual fun which the girls might not be able to proffer. Ron thinks she is the best foster sister. Getting close to Claire now, the first thing that struck him was the sharp point of her nose. She is so attractive up close.
“Earth to Ron hello!” Hermione snapped her fingers at his face.
Ron jerked from his seat, snapping his head towards her. “Do you mind right now?” He glared at her.
“Why did you get so lost?” Lorelei was the one who asked the question.
Ron looked ready to deny it. “Lost? What lost?”
“Why are you asking to spend time out with Claire all of a sudden?” Hermione asked with a suspicious look in her eyes.
Ron stood up when he sighted Claire returning back to the table. “It is none of your business.”
“I am ready Ron!” Claire announced, looking a bit more brighter after adding what seems like a powder on her face.
Stretching out his hand, Ron tongued out at Hermione. “After you my lady.”
Claire giggled before waving at her friends. “Bye guys ”
Lorelei mumbled. “I hope this isn’t another impending disaster.”
Hermione sipped on her warm coffee. “I hope so too.” Taking a closer look at Lorelei, she turned her body towards her. “So tell me, how are you feeling?”
Taking a deep breath Lorelei wished she could actually explain how she was really feeling. All through the night she kept twisting and turning. She hoped Jaylen wouldn’t give up on their love and decide he would be returning to Chicago without her. She blessed the heavens for telling Jaylen about Jayden’s advances towards her. It would have been messier and she doubted there would be any strength for her to withstand the heat if she had not told him about it.
“I can’t say exactly. I just feel numb.” Lorelei mumbled in response.
Hermione nodded like she understood what Lorelei said. Seeing how messed up the brothers relationship was for herself last night, there was no way anyone caught in between them would be any okay.
“Did you talk to Jaylen?” She asked.
Lorelei gulped. “Yes, he called this morning.”
“What did he say then?”
“Jaylen said that he would see me soon and that he has some things to take care of.” Lorelei replied.
“You mean things like this…” Hermione nodded towards the cafe door giving way to a happy looking Jaylen, his uncles and the last person Lorelei wants to see with her man-Juno.
