EPISODE NINETY THREE
THEME: Leave the pack
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Jayden slapped his steering with a twirling rage. It seem like they all turned their back against him at the same time. He was definitely going to get back at them all when he becomes the Alpha. His eyes caught sight of the scar he had gotten from Jaylen and it only angered him the more.
Storming out of the car, he took determined stride into the pack house. Just as expected the rest of the family were seated and right in front of him was Jaylen strolling into the living room.
“Why are you still here?!” Jayden bellowed at Jaylen.
Giving him a once over, Jaylen scoffed. He was really tired of harboring Jayden’s tantrums and excesses. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
“I want you out of this Fortress this minute! Pack your things and leave!” Jayden ordered.
Jaylen laughed loudly and he held on to his sides quickly when a pain stung him. “You joke a whole lot, Jayden. This isn’t ten years ago and we aren’t fifteen. You can’t order me around like you did then. And I have every right to be here just like you do.”
Jayden furrowed his eyebrow. “Did you just talk back at me?! I should have known trying to play nice with you was just a waste of time! You would always be a problem to me just like I predicted. And listen to me…” He pointed at him. “There is no way I am letting you have Lorelei. I promise, even if it will be the last thing I do!” He threatened before stomping off.
Every other person watched patiently without saying a word. Jaylen felt a part of him shake furiously as he tried to find a place to seat. He would never have an ill intention towards his brother. The last thing he wanted was to have another feud brewing between himself and Jayden. He thought they had outgrown it when they had become friendly with each other for the past one week.
Gabriella sat up in her seat looking round the room in despair, this was the time she wished Carl and Meagan weren’t saddled with the awful fate of birthing twins. Twins have always been tagged as blessings, but Jaylen and Jayden didn’t seem like it in this terms. Looking round at everyone, she could tell they were just as worried as she was. And the future could easily be predicted this way.
Jayden would never accept defeat of Jaylen becoming an Alpha. If Jaylen becomes the Alpha, no doubt Jayden won’t mind bringing the whole of the Fortress down to ashes. At the same time what had to be done is needed to be done. There was no way they would give in to Jayden’s wants at the expense of the pack.
Gabriella watched as Jaylen stepped outside of the house so she stood up too and went after him. Dipping his hands into his pocket, Jaylen walked past the flower beds that led to the garden behind the house.
“How do you feel?” Gabriella let out in a pant after struggling to meet up with him. Jaylen didn’t respond at first as he kept his gaze focused straight, staring at nothing in particular.
“Did you know I had special abilities with the help of my wolf?” Jaylen asked her instead.
Gabriella paused for a while, trying to juggle her response well. “I only got to know recently.”
Jaylen balled his fist in anger. “Don’t lie to me Granny. Your parables and all that coded message you have been trying to pass to me for a while now, is that what it’s all about?”
“Son, it wasn’t in my place to tell it to you when I don’t have a solution to it.” She defended herself.
“The least you could have done is give me an heads-up. Do you know how hard I pull at my hair thinking I was losing my mind?” Jaylen sounded pissed.
“I am sorry, Jaylen.” She apologized sincerely.
Tears laced Jaylen’s eyes, he was getting tired of everything. Since two months ago that he arrived at the Fortress this was the first time he had regrets of ever deciding to come. Jaylen wished he had stayed back and focused on his business. But then his father’s health was derailing so fast, he wouldn’t have gotten the chance to spend the times he had shared with him if he was far away.
Gabriella hugged him from behind, feeling extremely guilty for doing nothing wrong. There was no way they would have known the twins would turn out to be sworn enemies. Their life has been totally played by fate.
“You know I wouldn’t stop you if you decide to go back to Chicago now.” She mused behind him.
Rubbing at his face, Jaylen groaned inwardly. Now he had so many things to lose, he can’t chicken out on Lorelei knowing how much he loves her. And there is him also getting a hang of his strength to keep him from running wild as Rex had informed him. Too many things was at stake, which means he would have to find a way of making Jayden see reason and probably put an end to their unnecessary feud.
“Truth be told Granny, I wish I was never here but now I really can’t leave. I can see the light fading off dad’s eyes everyday which means he is near his death and I really want to be next to him when he gives up the ghost. And there is Lorelei who feels my heart with so much joy at the mere sight of her. I love her so much that I can’t help it. What am I suppose to do? And Jayden on the other hand hates me already without hearing me out. I just want a happy family.” He didn’t hold back the tears this time.
Gabriella stood still letting his tears fall on her folded arms. She has no idea how to comfort him. Still brooding on what to do, she felt two strong arms on her shoulder.
“Let him be Gab. We would take it from here.” Benjamin smiled at her with Collins who nodded his head in assurance from behind.
“Thank you.” Gabriella mouthed at them, as she wiped her tears off.
“Hey champ, care to take us around town?” Collins demanded as he massaged Jaylen’s shoulder tightly.
Jayden moved away from the both of them a bit. “I don’t think I want to.”
Benjamin scoffed. “Come on, don’t be such a kill joy. Let us lift up this mood of yours. Come on man!”
Refusing to listen to Jaylen’s excuse, Benjamin and Collins dragged him to the car, making him seat in the front with Collins by the steering and they drove out of the pack house.
