EPISODE SEVENTY FIVE
THEME: Jayden’s change of heart
MOON STONE FORTRESS
AT THE PACK HOUSE
Jayden whistled an happy tune as he walked into the pack house, for no actual reason he found himself extremely happy and fulfilled. One of the reasons he loves to hang around Sebastian, is because of how much he inspires him to do some necessary things.
Releasing his hair from the band holding it together, Jayden let it flow and it dropped on his shoulder. Jayden ran his hands through his silky hair as he made his way towards the stairs. When he got to the top, he met his grandmother on the way and it looked like she had just woken up from a nap.
“Hey Granny.” Jayden hollered as he gave her a bear hug.
Gabriella returned the gesture with a bright smile on her face.”Woah! I can’t remember the last time I hugged you. You seem to be in the best of moods today. I do hope you know your brother is still here.” She reminded him.
Jayden scoffed in a playful tune. “Of course I do and mind you I don’t have anything against my brother. Anyways, what do you think of us all eating dinner together?”
“Sounds delightful.” Gabriella responded. She sounded genuinely happy.
Her reaction made Jayden proud of himself. They had done the performance check for the company for the second quarter and it showed that under his supervision they had been more productive. It made him feel good about himself when Sebastian had announced that he would be heading home to celebrate the feat with his family and it had also made him think to do the same to.
As much as Jayden didn’t like to admit it, he had become more distant since his father for ill and he missed spending time with his family.
“I would check on mom and dad really quick.” Jayden told Gabriella as he kissed her forehead.
Meagan sat curled up in the couch next to the window reading a book. She wasn’t actually concentrating and wished for some sort of distraction. Carl had stayed quiet for a long while saying nothing, if she hadn’t been observing him and it was evident that his eyes blinked and his breath a bit steady, she would have thought he had gone to the great beyond.
Knowing how much of a talkative Carl can be when he is awake, it didn’t surprise her much at the same time because there was a whole lot to brood about.
Jayden walked into the room. “Hey mom.” He embraced her from behind.
Meagan held onto her chest immediately. She had been scared to death not expecting anyone especially Jayden.
“You are here?” She inquired.
“Can’t I come say hello to my parents?” Jayden asked as he walked towards the bed to see his father who had his eyes shut tightly. He caressed his light hair gently. “Hey mom, is dad doing okay?” He whispered.
Carl flipped his lashes weakly. “I’m fine son. How are you doing?” He asked.
“Very well dad.” Jayden responded as he say next to his father.
“You are home a bit early.” Meagan noted when she checked the time.
“Well I just thought it would be nice we have dinner together. I miss you all.” Jayden replied.
Carl and Meagan shared a look, wondering what had gotten over their son. They still hadn’t gotten over the gesture he had made towards Jaylen in the morning and now he intends to have dinner with everyone of them.
“Your brother inclusive?” Carl questioned.
Jayden laughed. “Of course dad, Jaylen inclusive.”
“This is really nice.” Carl note as he tried sitting up. He didn’t agree to Jayden helping him sit up. As a matter of fact, he looked like it wasn’t him that looked so sullen few minutes ago.
“You sure about this baby?” Meagan asked. “You don’t have to do what you don’t want to we understand really.”
“I know what you mean mom and I am pretty fine by it.” Jayden assured her.
Meagan stood up from her sitting position with a wide smile on her face that made her look beautiful. The smile had enhanced her beauty.
“I should check the kitchen to know what they plan on serving us for dinner.” Meagan rushed out her words as she exited the room.
Jayden smiled as she left, he didn’t know they would seem so happy at just him showing up for dinner. It made him realize what he had been missing and also depriving his parents of, especially his father who has just little time left for him.
“Thanks for this son. I feel so happy right now.” Carl patted his back lightly.
“I am glad you are happy dad. And I am sorry for whatever I must have done to you.” Jayden apologized with sincerity in his tone.
“It’s all okay son, what matters is us loving, supporting and forgiving each other as a family.” Carl answered.
“I will keep that in mind. I would go freshen up now. So I would see you at dinner.” Jayden smiled.
“Alright son.” Carl patted his back again.
Meagan met Jayden on his way out so she kissed him goodbye as she walked back into the room. She rushed to take a seat next to her husband.
“Do you think something fishy is going on?” Meagan asked.
Carl heaved a sigh. “Do we necessarily have to figure out what got him to have a change of heart?”
“Baby-”
“I know.” Carl held her hands. “I know what you mean baby, but I miss my boy. I really can’t wait to have a peaceful dinner with every of my children. Please.”
“You know it is always my wish for us all to spend time together like any regular family would. But it is just a shame that we are nothing close to regular.” Meagan kissed their locked hands.
“Let’s not ruin our own moods ourselves. It should be more of a happy moment.” Carl held her close to him as she bent low to kiss him on the lips gently.
Meagan rested her full body against the bed frame trying not to rest on Carl too much as she placed her head on his shoulder. She hoped things would really work out and Jayden would find a friendly ground with his brother and be of great support to him.
Every day when she wakes up and get reminded of what is to come after Carl’s death, it made her so scared that she secretly wished she would be able to follow him and not have to be saddled with the responsibility of bringing the family together.
Jayden is stubborn as a mole and always feels cheated when he doesn’t get what he wants or what he thinks he deserves. He has every right to feel that way, so does Jaylen and it appears to be none of their fault.
Fate was playing a trick on them and she hoped they would be able to overcome it and not succumb to its torture.
Kissing her husband on the shoulder, Meagan hoped the dinner would be one to remember positively.
