MOON STONE FORTRESS
“Shit!” Jaylen muttered when Lorelei stormed out. He had been so engrossed in his discussion with Juno that he had totally forgotten his girl was still on seat.
Juno looked innocent like she wasn’t aware of what had just happened. “What’s wrong?”
Jaylen let go of her hand and beckoned to the waiter. He paid up for the food they ordered. He mumbled a goodbye to Juno in a rush and left the restaurant at a close run.
Juno stared in amusement as she sat where Jaylen had sat and she couldn’t help but laugh to herself. She felt good and petty at the same time although it was unlike her to be so inconsiderate of others. But it was too much for her and the jealousy she feels towards not just Lorelei but any other person who seem to be happy in their relationships.
Juno sniffed as a tear threatened to drop. She had never been greedy for anything her whole life but the only thing she had asked the Moon Goddess for was for her to be with the one she wants which is Jayden. But it felt like the Moon Goddess doesn’t want her to be happy and would prefer she dies of loneliness.
Sometimes, Juno regrets not falling in love with Jaylen even more instead of Jayden. She knew Jaylen would have loved and cared for her the right way but her treacherous heart and wolf thinks differently as they enjoy being mistreated.
The ding of her phone message notification pulled her out of her reverie. When she checked the message her heart raced at it. Jayden had asked if they could meet up tonight and also have dinner together at the pack house with the rest of the family. That felt odd though but to her it was a sweet gesture at the same time.
Juno stood up and rushed out of the restaurant in excitement. Her eyes caught sight of Jaylen and Lorelei, looking like they are having some sort of argument. She felt guilty for being the reason for the argument. Her actions seem regrettable now that Jayden had practically made her day.
Juno decided to beg Lorelei alongside Jaylen. She took slow steps towards Jaylen and Lorelei with her keen eyes on them.
“Listen baby. I’m sorry.” Jaylen pleaded as he held onto Lorelei’s hands.
Lorelei snatched her hands from him and stomped her foot. “This isn’t the first time it’s happening. Every time we are to spend some moments together Juno comes along that way and you drop everything for her!” She lamented even though it was just a one time thing. “Do you have to be around her always?!”
Jaylen scratched the back of his head. “I guess I do that quite often.”
Lorelei looked like she was on the verge of tears. The mere thought of Jaylen ignoring her for his so-called childhood friend just makes her feel more hate towards Juno. And it didn’t seem like it would dissipate any time soon. If it were up to her, she would wipe Juno away from the face of the earth.
Now, she got a hang of Claire’s anger and why she doesn’t like Juno. Juno can be said to be an attention seeker and seeks it in which ever way she can not minding who she might be inconveniencing.
“Come on Lorelei, you know that wasn’t intentional. I didn’t even know she would be around. Please baby.” Jaylen sounded frustrated.
He would never indulge in trying to beg a lady, but Lorelei was different but he couldn’t afford to lose her all because of something he considered really petty.
Lorelei blinked back the tears in her eyes. “You should know by now that I hate having to share your attention.” She sniffed.
Jaylen nodded in agreement as he tried to hold her hands again and this time she let him do it. “I can see that, you are no different from Claire. I can see why you both bond well.” He added trying to lighten the mood. “I am sorry baby.” He apologized again.
Slapping him lightly on the chest, she leaned into his embrace inhaling his smell. Lorelei almost cursed out loud when her peripheral view sighted Juno.
“What the hell?” She muttered under her breath.
“Am I interrupting something?” Juno said behind them.
“Of course you are!” Lorelei let out in frustration as she held on to Jaylen’s waist tightly with her head raised up.
Juno gave her a sad look. “I didn’t mean to crash your lunch please. I had no intention of ruining your date.”
Lorelei could swear Juno was lying through her teeth, because the smile she gave inside the restaurant was really fake which had made Lorelei’s wolf stand on guard for a moment.
“You can see Juno is sorry now baby. Please?” Jaylen pleaded on her behalf as he kissed her lightly on the lips.
Lorelei smirked to herself in satisfaction when she saw Juno act uncomfortably at the kiss. “It’s all good. We should go now baby, I need to get back to work.”
“Ok.” Jaylen kissed her again. He nodded towards Juno who had her mouth agape a bit. “What?” He mouthed after Lorelei headed to the other side of the car.
“You both are official now?” Juno queried. She had thought they were still getting to know each other.
“I asked her to be my girlfriend weeks ago, Juno.” He whispered.
“You never told me anything about that!” She insisted.
Jaylen groaned. He and Juno hardly kept anything away from themselves when they were little but things are different now. And for a reason quite unknown to him also he had decided to keep his relationship with Lorelei away from her. He had no idea why he did so, but it felt unnecessary to tell her about it. Especially since Jaylen could feel strongly that Juno was hiding something away from him.
He walked over to her and kissed her forehead in a hurry. “I know what you mean, but let’s do this later. I will call you.” Jaylen said before he got into the car.
Juno watched as the car reversed out of the restaurant’s car park on to the road. If her thoughts were right, Jayden would be in a sour mood if he gets to know about it and that would be a disadvantage on her part. Only she could practically tell how into Lorelei Jayden was. She had promised herself to do everything in her power to keep them far from each other.
At this point, It felt like the Moon Goddess was finally taking a pity on her by taking away any possible obstacle preventing her from having a love life with Jayden.
Feeling really excited about meeting up with him for the night, she ran towards her car in excitement, forgetting the main reason why she had come to the restaurant in the first place.
Juno didn’t bother to think more about the reason as she drove off feeling elated.
