EPISODE SEVENTY THREE
THEME: Lorelei’s anger
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Lorelei giggled as Jaylen tried to make another joke. Since Jaylen came to pick her for lunch he had been unable to keep his hands to himself and she had even caught him staring at her too many times.
Lorelei felt like the happiest person in the world, having a man who feels so much for her and doesn’t hide it makes her feel like the luckiest woman on planet earth.
“Hope you weren’t too stressed at work today?” Jaylen asked as he rubbed her hands with his thumb.
“The day isn’t over yet, I won’t know until after lunch.” Lorelei replied with a chuckle. “So tell me what have you been doing all day.”
“I have been holding a virtual board meetings on a new business project we are about to embark on.” He replied.
“Do you miss Chicago?” She asked.
Jaylen nodded his head. “Yes. Sincerely, I do miss Chicago and I really don’t mind being there at the moment.” He held Lorelei’s gaze as he responded.
Jaylen was quick to sense some form of sadness in her eyes. His wolf and hers had began to connect since last night and he could practically feel the doubts weighing in her mind. He was quick to sense it because she was happy just a while ago.
“What’s on your mind baby?” He inquired.
Lorelei stared down at her food as she tossed it around with her cutlery. “What will happen to us when you return to Chicago?”
“Why are you bothered about that right now?”
“Please answer me.”
Jaylen bit hard on his lips as he hadn’t really thought of it as too many things had his mind preoccupied. As much as he doesn’t have anything in mind at the moment, he knew Lorelei wasn’t someone he wants to let go so easily and not even distance can separate him from loving her truly.
“We would discuss this when the time comes.” He responded, trying not to give a false promise.
“Do you have doubts about me?” Lorelei questioned.
Jaylen sighed. He let go of her hand as he leaned into the chair and folded his arms on his chest. “Why would you say that?”
“I don’t know. First, I am worried this is just a normal fling to you and I am the one going over heels for you. And also there is the case of Juno who you seem to care so much about.” Lorelei didn’t mean to bring Juno into the conversation but she just couldn’t help mentioning the name.
Pulling at her hand again softly, Jaylen raised it to his mouth to kiss it. “I would swear with all that I have that Juno is more like a sister and a friend and nothing more.”
Lorelei doesn’t seem convinced. “A sister? You don’t even share the same parents. And what if she is interested in you?”
“You are just being paranoid, Lorelei. You are the one my heart beats for and my wolf wants the same too. I always want to hear your voice before I go to sleep at night and wake up to sending heart felt messages to you. I love you, Lorelei and I mean it.” He said with sincerity in his tone.
Both of their heart skipped at the same time with Jaylen’s confession. He didn’t mean to be too emotional but it seemed like his wolf’s emotions were moving faster than his.
“Did you feel that?” Lorelei asked as she held onto her chest.
“Did your wolf react to it too?” Jaylen inquired with a surprised look on his face.
Lorelei laughed intensely. “Our wolves are in sync, Jaylen! That’s so sweet!”
Jaylen kissed her hands again. “I hope you believe me now.”
Lorelei nodded her head with a sweet smile grazing her lips. Jaylen mirrored her smile as he was feeling on top of the world. He would have never thought coming back to the Moon Stone Fortress would bring such happiness to him. Every time he thought about Lorelei, all he wants is to spend time in her presence and bask in it.
Even though he wasn’t admitting it to himself yet, he knew for sure going back to Chicago would be with Lorelei moving in with him. But his only fear was that she wouldn’t refuse him.
“I knew I saw your face.” Juno’s voice sang as she walked closer to the table and headed directly towards Jaylen.
To Lorelei’s horror, Juno kissed in his cheek right in front of her.
“Hey Juno. What are you doing here girl?” Jaylen stood up to give her a proper hug as he grinned from ear to ear.
Lorelei seethed her teeth in anger. She cleared her throat to get their attention causing Jaylen to sit back.
Juno held onto her chest. “Oh! Pardon me Lorelei. I’m so sorry please, how are you doing today?” She had a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.
Juno wasn’t a fan of Lorelei due to her rude attitude and because she knew Jayden has a huge crush on her. No. Jayden likes her. Despite spending all of her time and feelings on Jayden, he still chooses to go after a girl who wouldn’t pay him any mind.
Seeing how Jaylen was distracted by her and how smitten Lorelei was, it made Juno happy that Lorelei was finally never going to be with her Jayden. Still, she hated that Lorelei got the attention of one of the two most important people in her life. She just couldn’t resist from acting petty.
“Good afternoon to you too.” Lorelei gritted.
Jaylen who was oblivious to the exchange between the two ladies still went ahead to hold onto Juno’s hands while talking to her. “Did you come here for lunch?”
“Yes. I was on an assignment and thought to grab something real quick.” Juno replied.
Checking her palm, Jaylen looked up at her. “Has your hand healed completely?”
Juno laughed. “Of course, I am a werewolf remember.” She boasted.
Jaylen examined Juno’s palm. He wasn’t really certain of what he was doing but he tried to connect to her and feel any odd aura around her. Nothing big occurred to him but he could tell that she was a bit calmer and hasn’t indulged in any form of crazy act. It made him feel relaxed and happy that he was able to help when the need for it came.
“Have you gotten your meal?” He asked Juno.
Juno shook her head. Her eyes didn’t miss Lorelei’s gaze burning holes on her face. If eyes could kill then she would be die by now. “Not yet. I saw you and thought it necessary to say hi first.”
“That’s so thoughtful of you. I’m sorry for not giving you a call to check on you.”
“No. It’s fine. You have done enough. And I really appreciate it.” Juno rubbed Jaylen’s hands as she smiled sweetly at him.
“You should come around to see me at the pack house. I have something that might interest you.” Jaylen said.
“Really? It has been long I saw dad, probably I would swing by tomorrow to say hello to him then also see you too.”
“Yeah. You must show up since you have a day off tomorrow. Make sure you come straight home!” Jaylen said with a feigned serious look on his face.
“You know my day offs?” Juno inquired with a surprised look on her face.
Jaylen chuckled. “Of course I do. You laid everything out to me the other day.” He reminded her.
Their sort of sweet exchange annoyed the hell out of Lorelei and she couldn’t seat and watch them any longer. All of a sudden, she stood up in anger and stormed out of the restaurant.
