Alpha Aiden was quickly alarmed, Marcellus was still in school, he didn’t want to go over there to retrieve him but after school, no problem.
“How about them?”, Alpha Aiden asked looking at the boy and his parents who were asleep.
Davina stood up and walked over to Alpha Aiden, “they will be awake in some minutes, we should leave now”. And with that they left, not leaving a single trace.
“How come the boy didn’t remember anything that happened to him?”, Alpha Aiden asked, trying to put the pieces together.
“Since he was kidnapped by a vampire, you know very well that it’s possible for him to be compelled to forget”, Davina said and Alpha Aiden nodded, confirming that it was right.
Vampires have the ability to compel people to forget things, an ability known as “memory compulsion.” This is a psychic power that allows vampires to erase the memories of their victims, making them forget specific events or information. This power is particularly useful for vampires who want to keep their existence a secret, as they can erase any memories of encounters with humans. But how exactly is this possible, and how is it done?
The mechanism behind memory compulsion is not well understood, as it is a supernatural power that operates outside of the laws of science. Some vampires believe that it is a manifestation of their psychic energy, while others believe that it is a magical power that they possess. Regardless of its exact nature, memory compulsion is a formidable ability that allows vampires to control the minds of others.
To use memory compulsion, a vampire must establish eye contact with their victim. This is because eye contact is a powerful form of nonverbal communication, and it allows the vampire to connect with the victim’s mind. Once eye contact is established, the vampire focuses their thoughts and will on the victim, projecting their psychic energy into the victim’s mind. This projection creates a mental link between the vampire and the victim, allowing the vampire to manipulate the victim’s memories.
The process of compelling someone to forget is different for every vampire, as each vampire has their own unique way of using their power. Some vampires use their psychic energy to literally erase memories from the victim’s mind, while others use their power to influence the victim’s thoughts and perceptions, causing them to forget specific events or information. In some cases, the vampire may even create false memories to replace the memories that they have erased, further obscuring the truth.
The power of memory compulsion is not unlimited, however. The strength of a vampire’s memory compulsion is determined by several factors, including their age, strength, and experience. Younger vampires tend to have weaker memory compulsion, as they have not yet fully developed their psychic abilities. In contrast, older and more experienced vampires have stronger memory compulsion, allowing them to erase larger and more complex memories with ease.
Additionally, the power of memory compulsion can also be influenced by the victim’s own psychic abilities. Those with strong willpower and psychic defenses can resist or even break the memory compulsion, making it difficult for the vampire to erase their memories. In these cases, the vampire may need to use more of their power or use more subtle methods to erase the memories.
It is important to note that the use of memory compulsion is not without consequences. Erasing someone’s memories can have a profound impact on their psyche, potentially causing confusion, anxiety, or even mental illness. In some cases, the victim may even experience gaps in their memory, making it difficult for them to function normally in everyday life. But most times the person might just forget and move on with his or her life.
MARCELLUS POV :
The sun was shining brightly, but it didn’t bring any warmth to the students and faculty of the school. Everyone was walking around with long faces, and there was a palpable sense of fear in the air. The news that the school and students had received about Chase, going missing the previous night, change the whole demeanour of the school.
As soon as most of the students stepped into the school premises, they could sense that something was wrong, even I and Alex noticed it immediately we stepped into the school premises. The usual chatter and laughter were replaced by whispers and hushed tones. The teachers, who were usually busy with their usual morning routines, were huddled together in small groups, their expressions grim. Some of them discussing on the matter.
The principal made an announcement over the loudspeaker, informing the students and teachers about Chase’s disappearance. He asked everyone to keep an eye out for any information that might help with the search and to contact the authorities if they knew anything. And also asked everyone to be very careful.
The school was usually bustling with activity, but today it was eerily quiet. The students were too afraid to make any noise, as if they were afraid that their laughter and screams might attract the attention of whoever had taken Chase. The classrooms were solemn, and the teachers had a hard time keeping their students focused. The usual laughter and excitement that filled the hallways were replaced by whispers and the shuffling of feet. But the thing that made the place a bit relieve was that he was back unharmed but the fact he couldn’t remember anything was somehow.
Though school closed earlier today I and Alex stepped out to get into the car after saying goodbye to Charlotte. On getting close to the car, I stopped.
Something was wrong, I could feel it but it was shaky. I took of my necklace and I could feel the danger close by, something was very off and it felt like someone was there watching.
“What is wrong?”, Alex asked concerned as be searched my face, trying to figure out what’s wrong.
“I don’t know Alex”, I wore back my necklace, “I feel like someone is watching me or even us”.
