Chapter 94

Book:Alpha's Puppet  Published:2024-5-31

Alpha Jax tried explaining to Ava that he is not trying to make her feel bad or sad for whatever reason.
“That’s what it seems. And you should be worried about what other Alphas do to their mate compared to what you do to yours, my Alpha,” Ava said.
“Ava, you still do not understand me,” Alpha Jax said. He was getting pissed at the stubbornness of Ava. He knows she has always been the stubborn type. But he always returned her stubbornness with violence. But now he can’t. He dare not. Whatever he says now or for the coming days, would mean a lot to his future with her.
Alpha Jax knows he would have to ask her to leave leave Benjamin. And she would have to accept. But he fears for how he would put it to her. Whilst coming, he had a perfect idea on how he would ask for forgiveness. But with Benjamin’s presence which irked him, and her presence which mesmerises him, the ideas and thoughts he planned evaporates.
Immediately Benjamin saw Alpha Jax come in, he knew it was going to be another bout of trouble. He wondered how Alpha Jax had time for Ava during these trying times. Alpha Jax sent Benjamin out of Ava’s room after trying to blame him for the battle. It pissed Benjamin. He felt embarrassed.
“I have had enough of it,” he muttered to himself. He walked towards his room. From the corridor, he saw two people’s shadow on their window. It’s the room reserved for visitors. After a moment, he saw clearly whose shadow they were. First, Lily and the shadow of some other man, who must have been the emissary from Shane Pack.
Benjamin saw both of them laughing. He saw the stranger eating and drinking.
“I will be damned,” Benjamin laughed. It’s not expected from Lily to be this casual with someone she just met, not to talk of someone who plans on destroying her pack, and she just met him.
“What could make her act in such manner?” He thought hard of every possibility. And when the thought of both of them being mate came to his head, she shrugged it off.
“Lily is not one designed to have mate,” he concluded. But the thought of mate reminded him of Alpha Shane. Benjamin wondered in this battle of hatred and blood, where does he stand. What’s in it for him?
“What’s the assurance that Shane Moss is doing this for you. Does he still think of him or remember his existence. The battle could be for whatever selfish reason Alphas fight battles for. It could be to expand his land and to claim the victory of having defeat the great bond moon pack,” Benjamin’s conscience spoke to him.
Lily came out of the room, and she saw Benjamin.
“My lady,” he greeted.
“Ah! Benjamin. How are you?” She asked still with a smile on her face.
“No one is good, my lady. We are all in fear, not knowing what will happen,” he replied. She walks close to him and pat his shoulder.
“Do not worry about it. It will be fine. We will solve this. And when it comes to war. Remember the pack you are in,” Lily replied. She began walking away. Benjamin followed her.
“If I may ask, what’s their term?”
“Pretty dumb if you ask me,” she scoffed.
“Eh? What is it?”
“They want my brother to surrender without any condition. They promise they will not attack the pack if Alpha Jax should surrender. All they need is him,” Lily replied.
“Just him?”
“Ridiculous right?”
“And we aren’t doing it right?”
“No where in history has such thing ever ended well. I have witnessed a few battles of my father. War is worn with tricks. And I bet this is one,” Lily replied. Benjamin stopped following her.
“I knew it,” he murmured.
“I know it has nothing to do with me. Has Shame forgotten me? Has time provided him with people who will take my place by his side and treat him well,” Benjamin questioned himself. He prays not. He sat down on the floor of where Lily left him. She walked on without looking behind.
Benjamin raised his head in tears. He remembered when Alpha Jax took him away. The tears he had, the way he begged both Alphas not to take him away. He remembers the tears of Shane who was just a beta then.
And when he got to the pack, he remembers how he always try to run away. His plans always fail. There were always men who would catch him and bring him back. He remembered when he stopped trying to run away. When he gave up, and expect that some day Shane Moss would come for him.
Shane Moss would seek for him. Maybe Shane would come like agents of the night. Maybe Shane would employ the magic of devil and get people to come and rescue him. Benjamin remember those nights he would not eat. He would be curled up in his own room. Holding his chest and expecting his lover, but Shane never came.
And now that Shane did come, after so many years. It seems as if Shane did not come for him. Maybe Shane has forgotten him.
“No, it must not be,” Benjamin lamented. He knows the next thing to do is to go and look for Shane himself. He has to find Shane before things get out of hand. Before the war becomes full blown. He has to find the love of his life.
