Chapter 88

Book:Alpha's Puppet  Published:2024-5-31

Alpha Jax arrived at his court. All his council members are waiting for him. Few guards are at the entrance of each door and two stand before him. It’s not safe for people armed to stand behind Alphas. Either you walk side by side or you stay before them. Only their betas could stand behind them.
They all stood up to greet him. None of them sat till he sat down, even the old men. Immediately he sits, he remembered himself before now or before he heard what a threat Shane Moss had become. He barely attends council meeting. All he does is listen to report of things at the meeting.
“My Alpha, like every other day, these people plans go a step further. And today, we should make a finalization of what our plans are,” a council member called the attention of Alpha Jax. Alpha Jax raised his eye brow and looked towards the direction of the council member.
“I thought we already had an agreement. What I was expecting is someone would read the draft of the last meeting. Then he will read all important notes from all our meetings and then when our brain is refreshed, can we come to a decision. We need to follow protocol we established,” Alpha Jax corrected the council member. He looked at the man who was supposed to read the note from the last meeting. He stood up and read it.
“Thank you,” Alpha Jax said.
“And now for my turn Alpha, I did not write so much notes but I will just drop the bullet points..”
“Yes! Yes!! Get over with your formalities,” Alpha Jax hurried the council secretary.
“In our meeting where we ever first discussed about Shane Moss, was Council Member Dreg discovery of Shane Moss. A man who kills the Alpha of his pack. We discovered he is a threat due to reports from our scouts in some other Packs where he tried to create an alliance.
The next discussion is to know about Alpha who could possibly support him and why. We discovered eight Alphas in our axis who could support him, and thirteen Alphas who are loyal to us. We were able to get some of the Alphas on our side and they gave us more information concerning him.
Next, we discuss about the tactics of war of Shane Moss’s pack.
We had series of other meetings where we discussed what kind of battle style should we carry on. Defensive or offensive. Where we later agreed on defensive.
And in our last meeting, we agreed that we begin the process of raising all our fences and preparing all our defensive weapons. Also we talked about repairing our shelter for women, children and older wolves who can’t fight,” the council secretary read. He dropped his book and sat down.
“Ah! Haven’t we said it all already?” A council member asked.
“Well, there is one thing I will advise us to do if we want loyalty of the other Alphas to keep being with us. We should help them build their defences too. Tell them to stock up on resources because the siege might affect them,” the Council member in charge of pack security said.
“I don’t think it will affect them. It cannot,” a man said.
“And if you listen to me well enough, good site, I never said it will. I said might. It’s just us being careful. Precautions never hurt anyone,” the Council member defended his point.
“I agree with you,” Alpha Jax said. Everyone kept mute.
“Now since we are to set up defence. The council member for communication should make sure things get passed to other Alphas. And council member for economy, please make sure we have enough resources to last for years. If we don’t have enough, get. Either you buy or burn down any other small pack you can find. Just pile up resources to last for years,” Alpha Jax said. He stood up and everyone followed suit.
“That’s all I have to say for today,” he concluded. They all now before him. He turned around and leave the room.
“What a short meeting. Wheew!” He sighed.
Alpha Jax head towards his office. He got to the open corridor that leads to his office. And just right before him from afar is Ava. She was coming out of Lily’s part of the building. Both of them caught sight of each other.
“Wow!” Alpha Jax smiled. He remembered how he used to have sex with her and how he used to threatened her. He felt cringe of his behaviour through his gut. He kept walking. He promised he would apologize and make sure she feels safe.
“Rama, can you hear me?” He whispered internally to Rama.
“What?” Rama asked.
“I am going to talk to her. I am going to apologize to her,” Alpha Jax said.
“That’s not bad. You should,” Rama sounded relaxed.
“You don’t care?” Alpha Jax snapped in his head to Rama.
“Just talk to her. Apologize and don’t fuck it up,” Rama said.
“I can’t fuck it up. I am her Alpha. And I don’t..” he walked closer to her and she bowed before him.
“My Alpha,” she now.
“Good… good day,” Alpha Jax spoke fast. He stopped walking. She stopped too. He looked at her and winced his eyes.
“How is it going?” Alpha Jax asked.
“I am good my Lord,” she replied. He did not say anything else he kept on walking, and he walked fast till he got to his room.
Alpha Jax entered his office and closed his doors. He rested on his door and sat down.
“I fucked it up!” Alpha Jax said out loud to Rama.
“I know you did, why did you?” Rama asked him.
“Did you not feel it?”
“I felt your fear, your guilt. How shy you were. And how remorseful you felt. I just do not see what made you feel so. Well, I saw Ava,” Rama said.
“Rama, I saw myself one more time. I saw every time that I ever laid my hand on her. Every single time I ever hurt her. And I saw myself being on the receiving end from Natalie. It was scary,” Alpha Jax said.
“Jax, Natalie is dead. Do not let your memories haunt you. You feel regret for your actions towards Ava. Good. But if you do not overcome them, you might lose her,” Rama advised.
