Chapter 67

Book:Alpha's Puppet  Published:2024-5-31

“Dear people! To all werewolves and to all humans. To a witches and whatever other creature is in here. This is a modern world. A world where everyone should matter. A world where we all exist and should have a say in whatever happens. It’s a democratic era. Let’s put an end to the reigns of autocratic individuals,” A man on the podium said. Alpha Jax entered the hotel and went straight to the bar. He ignored the greetings of those who greeted him. He ordered for a punch. He sat before the bar and was sipping his drink, weakly.
The people he met in the hotel were all having a nice time. A musician was on stage performing, some were dancing, some were having random discussion that Alpha Jax had no interest in. And some others were just sitting at a corner, sipping whatever bdrinks they ordered. Minutes after Alpha Jax came in was when he heard the call to attention of a man begging that the reign of autocratic rulers should be brought to an end. Alpha Jax ignored it. Others were cussing at the man for ruining their song. He pushed the musician aside and grabbed the mic from him. Few little were cheering him on.
“What will it be like, to have a world without violence? Perfect yeah?” He asked.
“A world where an average human that does not belong to the league, is not afraid of werewolves. That witches would not have to hide from the power mongers that called themselves Alphas. A world where we could have prevented the extinction of Vampires!”
“Yeah!!!” Some people cheered him on.
“Hear me people! Your ideas will matter. Your opinions will matter. Your leaders will listen to you and give you a fair hearing. We werewolves could also have a political world like the humans. A democratic world!” He concluded.
“What about the moon goddess? What if she does not accept whoever we chose? Don’t you think this is the only reason Alphas are powerful?” Another man from the crowd said.
“Yeah! They are powerful because the goddess gave them her power!”
“The goddess? The moon goddess? Who is the moon goddess without us uhm? Who is she? We are the one who gives her power to continue existing,” he said.
“Blasphemy!” Another werewolf from the crowd cried.
“No! This is not blasphemy. Can any human here volunteer to answer just few questions I have for them?” He asked. He waved his hand around. Someone from the crowd raised their hand.
“Thank you! First question, where are you from?”
“Kansas!”
“Good! What God do you believe in?”
“I am an atheist!” The human replied.
“Oh! You are not the right person. I need those who believe in God,” he pleaded. No one answered him.
“Since no one is replying, I am just trying to buttress the point of gods and goddesses being strong if and only when they have followers. The moon goddess is only string because we believe in her! Our forefathers used to worship the wolves. But we left the wolves and began worshipping the moon goddess,” he said.
“What God or goddess do you want us to worship?”
“I am not asking you to worship any god or goddess. We can keep worshipping the moon goddess, except she has to go by our interest in selecting leaders! What do you say Alpha Jax?” The man on the podium called at him. He sighed he heard lots of gasps. Then there was silence.
Alpha Jax did not say anything. He heard about members of the rogue pack in one meeting with his councilmen and now he is seeing how much of a menace they are.
“He won’t say anything! He won’t. He knows how much unnecessary power he has. How they are inefficient in serving his people. He does not even serve them. They serve him. They are like his slaves,” the man said again. Alpha Jax did not turn around to reply him. The barman poured more punch for Alpha Jax.
“You see, I was once a member of his pack and I have first hand experience. When he came in here, most of you greeted him, but you saw how he responded. With silence. That’s how proud he is. He is one of those Alphas we need to end,” the man blamed him. Alpha Jax know the people around were expecting him to reply. He should defend himself. But Alpha Jax was not interested in giving the poor man unnecessary popularity. And his anger right now is not about if he was a good Alpha or not.
“You want to know the worst of it all? You people should come to the pack and see how he treats women. I know bsime humans from the League and other other rich werewolves do come to get those women from him. But this is a evil he started. He parades women like they are toy to him. He treats them like garbage. Make them walk naked. Brand them in their vaginas just for fun. And he fucks them like he has no conscience,” the man was being provocative. Alpha Jax had been able to ignore everything he has been saying. But he could no longer keep his anger in check.
He picked up his cup of Punch. Took a big sip and dropped it. He stood up from his chair and ran towards the man with super speed. He dug his hand into his chest, and grapped his heart. The man gasped for air.
“Alpha Jax! Don’t!” People begged him. He did not listen. He pulled out the man’s heart. He cleaned his hand off his blood and returned to his seat. He knows what fate await him after what he just did. After all, it is the Intercontinental County Hotel. And he had just killed someone on the floor of it. On the floor of what his ancestors, human ancestors, first witches, the old vampires and other mythical creatures have agreed to be a safe haven for them all.
