“A hospital? The nearest one is half an hour away,” the middle-aged couple said, sweating profusely.
“If it weren’t for that guy just now… I could have cured this boy,” Eliott Garner said firmly.
The couple’s eyes filled with hatred for Robin. If it weren’t for him, their son could have survived. But now, because of Robin’s actions, their son couldn’t be saved.
“I’m going to hold him accountable,” the middle-aged man said, his anger boiling over. He found a fire extinguisher in the car and prepared to confront Robin, the scoundrel who had both swindled them and hurt their son, intending to smash him until he bled.
Eliott Garner smirked secretly.
That guy was the perfect scapegoat.
However, just then, Robin emerged from the car. The middle-aged man saw him and immediately swung the fire extinguisher at him, intent on smashing Robin’s head open.
But, with a clang, the fire extinguisher was sent flying.
Then, Robin slowly walked toward the young boy.
“Kid, you want to touch my son again?” The middle-aged man was furious and immediately rushed over. However, just as he charged forward, a tender voice rang out: “Dad, don’t say that, he’s a good person.” The middle-aged man was stunned because his son had woken up.
Woken up? Everyone stared at the little boy, whose face had changed from a deathly pallor to a healthy flush, all of them dumbfounded. Wasn’t the boy just pronounced dead by the doctor? How could he be awake?
“Awake? Impossible!” Eliott Garner looked bewildered. How could the boy be awake? He rushed over to examine the boy’s condition and found that the heart attack had indeed passed. It was truly baffling. But despite his confusion, he didn’t hesitate to take credit, declaring to the couple, “I had already cured him just now, it’s just that the reaction wasn’t immediate. And then, as you said, this boy came in and took advantage of the situation.”
He spoke with a serious expression, and his reputation as a medical student made the beer-bellied man somewhat believe him. However, the next second, the little boy pointed at Eliott Garner and cried, “Dad, it’s this guy! That big brother had already made me feel much better, and I was almost ok. But this bad man made me feel terrible, I couldn’t breathe, and I felt like I was going to die. If it weren’t for big brother, I would have really died.”
Amidst the boy’s cries, everyone understood the situation. Eliott Garner had harmed him, and Robin had saved him. Realizing the truth, the onlookers turned their attention to Eliott Garner. “I, uh, have something to do, so I’ll be going first.” Eliott Garner, realizing he had been exposed, immediately bolted. If he had stayed, he would have been beaten up.
Before leaving, though, he shot a glare at Robin. This man had ruined his plan, and he wouldn’t let him off easily. “I’m sorry for misunderstanding you. Here’s the thing: I’m the chairman of St. Sunday Jewels, Rolf Haynes. When we get to St. Sunday, I’ll give you ten million as a reward, how about that?” Rolf Haynes squinted his eyes, still somewhat haughty.
The people in the carriage, upon hearing the name St. Sunday Jewels, were stunned. One of them quickly said, “I know this company, it’s huge, really huge. In St. Sunday, it’s a top-tier corporation.” “I didn’t expect that he’d be this rich,” another person muttered in awe. “This guy has got himself a huge bargain.”
Everyone looked enviously at Robin. Ten million was a fortune that many people couldn’t earn in a lifetime. And he had earned it by saving a life. “Young man, what do you think?” Rolf Haynes asked again, exuding the arrogance of the wealthy.
“No need.” Robin turned around and left. “Hey, wait.” Seeing Robin reject his offer, Rolf Haynes was taken aback. He quickly chased after him: “Do you think the price I offered is too low? How about thirty million? That should be enough, right?” Rolf Haynes thought Robin was trying to raise the price. He had saved his son’s life, and as a man who valued his reputation, he couldn’t refuse to pay. Rejecting ten million meant seeking thirty million, so he immediately offered the higher amount.
He believed Robin would accept. This time, Robin turned back, making Rolf Haynes overjoyed. He thought Robin was a person motivated by money. However, the next moment, he was stunned because Robin didn’t walk towards him. Instead, he approached his two-year-old son. “Little friend, I saved you. What should you say?” Robin gently patted the child’s head.
“Thank you, big brother.” The little boy showed his pearly white teeth, revealing an innocent smile as he thanked Robin. After hearing the boy’s words, Robin turned and left again. As he passed by Rolf Haynes, he paused for a moment and said, “I came back not for your money but because I didn’t want to see such a young child leave this world. It’s not because of you; it’s because of your son.”
With that, Robin left, leaving behind a stunned Rolf Haynes.
He had been in business his entire life, but today he discovered that there were some things money simply couldn’t solve.
“Consider yourselves lucky; my master is willing to help.”
Jeff Reczek stood nearby, arms folded, humming a tune.
Rolf Haynes and his wife, Jenny Haynes, were somewhat ashamed, their heads hanging low as they stared at the ground. If it weren’t for Robin, they might have lost their only son. They had even misunderstood Robin earlier.
“I noticed he’s also going to St. Sunday. I’m kind of a big shot there too. I’ll find a way to protect him and repay this favor.”
Rolf Haynes sighed.
Fortunately, Robin was also going to St. Sunday, where he had a solid foundation. He could protect the young man when chaos erupted, repaying the debt.
“I knew big brother was a good person,” Rosey Chambers smiled, revealing her small, sharp canines. Her simple attire gave her an air of innocence.
“Why haven’t you asked for my help yet?” Robin asked playfully, hands behind his back.
“Big brother, how did you know?” Rosey Chambers was taken aback.
“The anxiety in your eyes couldn’t be hidden,” Robin sighed. When Rosey Chambers had spoken about her grandmother earlier, a flash of anxiety had crossed her eyes, and she had clutched a cloth bag tightly in her hand. It was obvious that the bag was important – likely containing money. So, her grandmother must have been gravely ill.
“No,” Rosey Chambers refused, somewhat frightened.
But at that moment, with a thud, the train arrived at the station. A man from another carriage ran in and snatched the bag from Rosey Chambers’ hand before dashing away. He had noticed the bag’s value.
However, with a clang, Robin stuck out his foot. The man tried to dodge, but strangely, he failed, and with a bang, he fell to the ground. The bag landed in Robin’s hands.
“Wait a moment. I’ll go back home with you, understand?” Robin’s expression was somewhat fierce.
“Ah… okay… don’t be so harsh to me…” Rosey Chambers was scared and wanted to run, but she couldn’t, as the bag was in Robin’s hands.
