Chapter 197 Lacey’s Visit

Book:The Warlord Is Back Published:2024-5-31

In the following hour, Jim personally negotiated several cooperated projects with Landview and signed contracts. Landview was rescued. After all, the Robin-Sophia Group was from the capital. It had wide distributing channels and networks, so it was an excellent distributor for Landview. On the other hand, Landview Inc. had exceeded inventory.
Meanwhile, Jeff and Melody sat in a car outside Landview. Jeff reported, “Mr. Bailey, the Brighton family’s plan failed. I let Jim give Landview many interests.”
“That’s good.” Robin looked up at Landview’s building with a hand resting on the window. The president’s office was on the 37th floor.
Melody was silent, but inwardly she exclaimed like crazy again. ‘Mr. X looks so gentle. He’s handsome, influential, and wealthy. What a perfect man! He loves his wife deeply and dotes on her. Argh!’ Melody wished to have such a husband again.
‘Ms. Houry, Jim Jordan is the Robin-Sophia Group’s president, but why has he been humble to you since he met you first? It’s because you are Mr. X’s wife. The Robin-Sophia Group can’t be comparable to you at all,’ Melody thought to herself.
She believed Elise was the happiest and luckiest woman worldwide.
Before leaving Landview, Melody darted at Miranda meaningfully. She had the urge to tell Miranda that the live-in son-in-law that Miranda looked down on was actually her boss. Miranda’s three-year bonuses had been deducted because of it.
Unfortunately, Melody couldn’t disclose the secret.
Suddenly, a call on her phone brought her back to her president. Melody swiped to answer and told Robin, “Mr. Bailey, a man named Orson Willis said he was your friend. He wanted to return money to you and play chess with you again.”
“Mr. Willis?” Robin was taken aback.
He would have forgotten about the matter if Orson hadn’t called him. However, he did enjoy playing chess with Orson, and he was idle in recent days.
Flicking his hand, Robin answered, “Let him go to my house.”
“OK. Orson Willis said he lacked money and took his granddaughter with him.”
The car fell into silence.
“Boom!” It roared away, heading for Eleanor Manor.
At the gate of Villa 001, Eleanor Manor, a woman with a ponytail in black sportswear was standing. She had a fit shape and slender legs. Evidently, The woman worked out often. She also emanated a decisive and fierce temperament.
“Why hasn’t your friend shown up, Grandpa? I can’t believe he stays in Eleanor Manor. That’s so rare. You don’t make friends with anyone from the upper class in Stillwater.” Lacey leisurely moved her limbs, working out the stiffness.
“Why? Do you have any objection?” Orson rolled his eyes and looked at her up and down. He said unhappily, “Lacey, we’re here to visit my friend. Why didn’t you dress up? You look too casual.”
“Too casual? This is my favorite sportswear at college. I like wearing it while jogging and fighting.”
Lacey bent over and added, “Grandpa, don’t you think your friend is too weird? How can an unknown man in Stillwater win against you? You even took me here to meet him. I smelt something fishy. I must find out the conspiracy behind it. I can fight well in my sportswear.”
“As I told you, I lost the game and wanted you to meet him. He didn’t request so,” Orson emphasized.
“He should have rejected you, then.”
“He did.”
“Then that’s weirder. I was a campus belle in my police school. Many men were after me. Even if I don’t wear makeup, I look better than those online celebrities. How could he have rejected you? There must be something behind it. I’ll find the truth today,” Lacey retorted.
“Can you stop thinking like a police in your spare time?” Orson heaved a sigh, shaking his head. He insisted on taking Lacey with him to find her a boyfriend.
Lacey was charming. Like she said, she had many admirers before. However, no one dared to pursue her after she beat them up and sent them to the hospital.
Orson was afraid she would be single for the rest of her life if this went on. As her grandfather, he was indeed worried, feeling exhausted.
Suddenly the gate was opened.
Melody walked out and glanced at them. She was stunned by Lacey. Although the sportswear could let her fight freely, it was tight, which fully showed Lacey’s perfect figure. As a policewoman, she was muscled with a woman’s curve, indeed eye-catching.
Only a few women in Stillwater had such a body shape. At least, Melody didn’t think she could be comparable.
Unfortunately, Robin was married and loved his wife deeply. Melody didn’t think he would be seduced by the young woman. Besides, Elise was also a charming woman.
“Hi there. Are you Orson Willis and Lacy Willis? Nice to meet you, Mr. And Ms. Willis,” Melody greeted them politely.
On the way back to the villa, she checked Orson’s information, which was her job as Mr. X’s assistant. However, she didn’t find much data as Orson’s profile was confidential. Jeff helped her in the end.
Orson Willis was the father of Stillwater’s mayor. Lacey was the mayor’s daughter, the most famous policewoman in Stillwater. She was attractive but violent, so she was nicknamed T-Rex. No one could win her heart so far.
The Stillwater’s mayor was Peregrine Willis. According to the profile, Orson resigned from the military after a battle almost taking his life away. He didn’t wake up after being in a coma for many years. Melody respected such a hero.
As a professional assistant, she didn’t forget to keep it secret.
“Yes, we are.” Orson nodded, surprise flashing through his eyes. He could tell Melody stared at him as if looking at a hero. Earlier, he was an ordinary man in her eyes only. Orson wondered if Melody had known his background.
“This way, please, Mr. Willis.” Melody bowed at him seriously, and her voice sounded faithful and earnest. She tried hard not to look at Orson in worship.
“Thanks.” Orson entered the yard naturally.
Lacey approached him and whispered, “Grandpa, something is wrong. That woman has known your background. Your friend is not simple.”
Melody wasn’t good at hiding her expression, so Lacey noticed her expression change immediately.
“Don’t make trouble. He’s my friend.” Orson flicked his hand, still feeling shocked. His profile was confidential. He wondered how his identity had been exposed. Although it wouldn’t cause trouble, he didn’t think it was easy for someone to access it.
