Eleanor Manor.
Robin was sitting on the sofa while holding Fiona and Leslie on either side, harmoniously watching a cartoon with them.
“Mr. Bailey, the investment succeeded,” Melody reported to him, standing behind the sofa. She was still shocked about the 400 million dollars invested in Landview as if they were just a penny.
Robin even didn’t change his expression when doing so.
Melody repeatedly reminded herself to be professional, although it was like a bombshell.
“Something is still wrong, Mr. Bailey. After solving the problem, I received a call from Timothy. He said the Brighton Group has prepared to do something for the Buosont family. He saw some signs,” Melody added, looking confused.
She majored in business at college, but the Brighton Group’s reactions puzzled her. She couldn’t help wondering what they planned to do and which one was their target.
If they wanted to suppress Landview Inc., they should focus on the company with all their strength, and Landview would be doomed in only 10 minutes.
However, after having a battle against Landview in the stock market, the Brighton Group aimed at the Buosont family. The Buosont Group was giant, so it wouldn’t be easy for the Brighton Group to defeat.
Besides, Mr. X was behind both Landview and the Buosont family. If the Brighton Group went too far, they would ask Mr. X for help. Then the matter wouldn’t end up as the Brightons expected.
Melody wondered why.
“Mr. Bailey, do you think they’ve been too panicked to make a wise decision? Or are they testing us?” Melody asked gingerly, failing to repress her curiosity.
“Neither. They just wished to have a final strike just in case.”
Shaking his head, Robin pinched Leslie’s soft, smooth cheek. He pecked on it before continuing, “The Bright family’s intention isn’t commercial.”
“What?”
Melody gaped at him. However, Robin didn’t explain, so she didn’t ask.
It was 10 P. M. Elise had returned home. After a shower, she lay on her bed and subconsciously darted at Robin’s bedding on the floor. “Hon… Shoot! I forgot again.”
Rubbing her temples, she was sleepless.
She had been used to having a man sleeping on the floor beside her bed. He also cared about her and cooked for her.
However, he was gone.
Unlike the overbearing, aloof CEO in her company, Elise huddled up weakly. While forcing herself to fall asleep, she grumbled, “You are so bad, Robin. You left me and took my daughter away… I’ll bite you to death… Humph!”
Soon, she fell asleep and stopped muttering.
Outside the villa, a mid-aged man appeared in an alley nearby. His eyebrows were thick and straight. He was tall and sturdy. From afar, he looked as fierce as a tiger.
It was Bradley, known as the Tiger of Stillwater.
Behind him stood over 30 men holding hacking knives with terrifying looks. They greeted Bradley together, “Boss!”
Bradley darted at them in satisfaction. The group of men followed him everywhere and did everything to help him over the years. Each of them was brutal. They were his most trusted men.
Also, they had killed many of his foes decisively.
“People living in that house are your targets tonight, especially a woman named Elise Houry. She’s good-looking. You’ve seen her photo earlier. Don’t do anything to her. Only kill them and leave quickly. Don’t arouse any attention.”
Bradley knew his men well, but he must ensure the success of tonight’s mission.
It was Constance’s plan. She used some commercial ways to slam Landview Inc., and Mr. X fought back as they expected. Then she attacked the Buosont Group again. In that case, Mr. X would focus on the Buosont Group.
However, their real intention was still Elise, the president of Landview. Since Mr. X was distracted, they would kill her.
However, if they made a scene, Mr. X would be attracted.
“I’ve seen the woman’s photo. She’s a charm. Can’t we do something to her first before killing her?” a man with tattoos asked, his eyes full of lust. As soon as he saw Elise’s photo, he was aroused.
“Right. Boss. Can we have some fun?” Others also surrounded Bradley. They knew Elise was known as the most beautiful woman, so they were unwilling to miss the chance.
“No!”
Bradley frowned at them as he had a long-term vision, so he wouldn’t let such a trifle ruin his plan. He added, “When you complete the mission, I’ll pay you extra 100, 000 dollars. In that case, you can find whatever kind of women you like.”
“OK, Boss,” the group of men agreed. Bradley’s words made sense. With the extra 100, 000 dollars, they could find other charming women they like. Although those women might not be comparable to Elise, they would accept it.
In an instant, the group of men bent down and vanished in the dark excitedly. They slowly intruded into the villa as usual. They used to kill Bradley’s foes and their families in this way many times.
Hence, Bradley was confident they could succeed in the mission. With his hands behind his back, he waited for them in the alley.
10 minutes passed.
20 minutes passed.
…
40 minutes passed.
There was only a dim, old light in the alley. Bradley stood under it with a sullen look, gazing at the villa in front without blinking.
’40 minutes have passed. Nothing happened.’ Bradley was rational. He had reminded his men not to do anything dirty to Elise before killing her, and his men wouldn’t disobey his order. After all, he was the Tiger of Stillwater.
However, his men still hadn’t returned after 40 minutes. Instinctively, he smelt something fishy. The next second, he turned around and walked into the alley along the same way where he had come.
After turning a corner, he stopped mid-step, and his eye pupils constricted. A man wearing a black robe stood under the dim light in front. Bradley failed to see his appearance clearly, but he knew who that man was–Mr. X’s man.
“Bang!”
The man in a black robe tossed a dead body towards Bradley. The latter darted at it and widened his eyes. The dead man was one of his subordinates.
“Mr. Conwyn, all your subordinates are all dead. This is the last one,” the Wolfman Guard chuckled, sending a chill down Bradley’s spine.
“You!”
Fear filled Bradley’s eyes. The group of men he sent was his best subordinates. However, they died quietly. Bradley flinched and wanted to escape.
The next second, the Wolfman Guard appeared before him to block his way. Bradley almost stopped breathing. Then the Wolfman Guard said something to horrify Bradley, “As Mr. X said, people in this house are under his protection. Mr. Conwyn, you’d better be sensible. Or all your family, including your two illegitimate sons domestically and abroad, will be dead.”
