Mr. X’s gaze had made cold sweat ooze from their foreheads.
The guests held their breath in horror.
“No wonder the Holland family dares not do anything to avenge. My legs are already weakened when I look at him. How scary!”
“Probably, he only looks scary. He might not be THAT competent. Look. He wears a mask. He dares not to expose his real face.”
“If your legs don’t shake, I’ll believe you.”
After a moment of silence, the guests calmed down and discussed Mr. X in low voices.
They could tell the legendary Mr. X was indeed terrifying.
“I heard someone referred me as a nobody who dared not to show my face.”
Robin looked down at the fat man on the floor.
“Bang!”
The fat man was so frightened that he got on his hands and knees and begged Robin. “Mr. X, it’s all my fault. I was too stupid. I’m willing to be punished,” he sobbed.
He dared not to look up at Robin at all.
Others could tell he was indeed scared. He had just talked evil about Mr. X behind his back, but Mr. X happened to appear. The fat man could be killed at any time.
Robin didn’t want to waste his time on such a clown. He entered the house.
The fat man immediately stood up and ran away, afraid of staying in Holland House. Mr. X had shown up, so the place was dangerous.
“This way, please, Mr. X.”
Other guests had no guts to stop Mr. X. They made their way and let Robin pass.
Jasper walked towards him with a dark face. “Mr. X, what brought you to our Holland House?” he asked, trying to be polite.
After all, their family’s avenge would start that night, so he couldn’t let Mr. X find their intention so early.
“Sending my condolence,” Robin uttered three words.
“Sending your condolence? You are the murderer. How dare you!” one man from the Holland family growled. Other Hollands echoed him immediately.
All the Hollands were taken aback the next second, gaping at the man who retorted angrily.
A broadsword had been stabbed into his chest.
“How dare you humiliate Mr. X! You deserve it.”
A man in a black robe appeared in front of that man within a blink. “Swoosh!” He pulled back the broadsword, blood splashing. Then the man in a black robe strode to stand behind Robin.
He kept silent but did his job without hesitation.
He was one of the Wolfman Guards, the security troop of Primus.
“What the…”
All people on the scene gaped. The man from the Holland family fell to the ground reluctantly. Blood streamed down his chest.
Mr. X came to Holland House with only one man, but he dared to kill the Holland family member in their house. Everyone couldn’t believe their eyes.
However, Robin didn’t take the dead man seriously. He glanced at Jasper and replied, “Why? Couldn’t a murderer condole the victim? Is it against the laws in our country?”
The guests were startled.
No law forbade a murderer to condole the victim, indeed.
However, Mr. X was way too arrogant. He didn’t only kill Jasper’s oldest son but also killed another one from the Holland family at the funeral, right in Holland House.
Evidently, Mr. X didn’t take the Holland family seriously, which was firmly believed by the onlookers. They had been horrified by Mr. X.
They looked over at Jasper in unison. As the master of the Holland family, if Jasper agreed to let Mr. X enter, the Hollands would be disgraced. If not, probably, they would have a fight.
The Holland family was one of the five most influential families in Stillwater, with over a hundred years of history. Their market value was over four billion dollars.
The onlookers held their breath, waiting for Jasper’s decision.
They guessed Jasper would reject Mr. X for his family’s honor.
“This way, please, Mr. X.”
Jasper stood aside and gestured to let Robin in.
“The Holland family compromised. They are a family with over a hundred years of history and treasure their family’s honor. How could they compromise? They didn’t even resist.”
“They let the murderer condole their dead son. How ironic!”
“This compromise has ruined their family reputation. They’ll be declining from now on.”
Others sighed while discussing.
In their opinion, the Holland family should have dignity. They shouldn’t have compromised and let the murderer condole without resistance. The onlookers couldn’t believe Jasper had done so.
However, all the important Holland family members knew Jasper had done it for tonight’s action.
Robin glanced at Jasper and entered the hall. He didn’t worship Layton as the latter didn’t deserve it. After darting at the coffin, Robin left the hall.
He remarked, “Nice coffin. You should get more.”
Then he left Holland House.
The Holland family didn’t give him a hard time, so he didn’t take the initiative to do something to them.
After Robin left, everyone in the hall exhaled in relief. “My goodness! Who the heck is Mr. X? I was so scared. My legs were weakened when he was here!” Some patted their chests to calm down.
“So were mine. I dared not to look into his eyes at all.”
“He’s so horrible.”
All the guests exchanged their opinions.
However, all the Hollands seethed with rage. Mr. X killed Jasper’s son, their family’s heir, but he came to condole Layton. None of the Hollands had the guts to threaten him. It was way too shameful.
They had lost their family’s honor and ruined their reputation.
“No wonder your family has survived over a hundred years. I’m impressed.”
“Exactly! No wonder you are influential in Stillwater. I heard you would be comparable to the top three families soon. Now I know why.”
“Congratulations, Mr. Holland. You didn’t have a fight.”
Many guests who didn’t get along with the Hollands left after mocking them. Meanwhile, they had decided not to provoke Mr. X.
Upon hearing those mockeries, the Hollands felt more furious.
Soon, the guests were all gone. Only the Hollands were standing in the hall. Until then, Jasper finally had an unconcealed ferocious look. His fingernails dug into his palms, blood oozing from the wounds.
“Our Holland family is one of the most influential in Stillwater. We’ve never been humiliated like this before,” said the deputy family master. He pounded the table and cracked it, emanating a murderous aura.
All other Hollands were also riled up.
“Tonight, 12 A. M. Kill Mr. X. I’ll make his life hell,” Jasper squeezed the words between his teeth, his eyes bloodthirsty.
After killing Mr. X, the Holland family would save their reputation.
“Yes, Master!” the deputy mater answered immediately.
His name was Harley Holland, Jasper’s younger brother. Also, he was in charge of the mission tonight, leading the Hollands’ trump card to eliminate Mr. X.
The Holland family had put all their efforts into the mission tonight.
