Eleanor Manor.
“It’s already 10. Shall I leave?”
Nina was playing a game with Fiona. After checking the clock, she found it was 10 P. M. “Why hasn’t Mr. X returned yet?” she asked Melody.
Nina could have left long ago but stayed, as she wished to meet Mr. X personally.
She was too curious, always wondering what Mr. X was like and who he was.
“It’s 10. Mr. X will come back soon,” Melody stood up and echoed.
From her expression, Nina could tell Melody wanted to send her away.
“All right. All right. I’ll leave now.”
Nina pouted, feeling reluctant about not seeing Mr. X in person. However, she couldn’t make Melody lose her job, so she had to leave.
Melody asked Fiona to watch a cartoon before walking Nina out.
At the entrance, a Land Rover approached, and the car window was pressed down. Nina immediately stretched her neck to check.
Then she saw the legendary Mr. X. He wore a black coat while sitting in the backseat upright. His mask made him mysterious, arousing Nina’s curiosity more.
After the car passed, Nina still stared at it.
“Honestly speaking, Mr. X has an excellent temperament. He’s aloof and overbearing. I bet he’s also handsome. It’s said he’s a horrible man. I don’t think so. I feel he is easygoing and looks familiar to me.”
Worship occupied Nina’s eyes.
Before, Nina thought Timothy was outstanding. After Mr. X, she believed Mr. X was a perfect man.
However, he looked familiar to her somehow.
‘Of course, he’s familiar to you. He’s your brother-in-law,’ Melody answered her inwardly.
Unfortunately, she had to keep the secret. Flicking her hand to hint at Nina where the gate was, she said, “Go home. Good night.”
“OK.”
Nina curled her lips. She came to the villa to see Mr. X, but she only had a glance at him. However, she felt lucky that her wish had come true.
Besides, she learned Mr. X’s surname was Bailey.
Compared to others in Stillwater, she should have more clues about him. Although Melody warned her not to spread the secret, Nina believed she could share it with Elise.
It was because Elise was Mr. X’s business partner.
After seeing Nina off, Melody returned to the living room. Robin had removed his mask, watching the cartoons while chatting with Fiona.
“She’s gone, Mr. Bailey.”
He didn’t like the horrible Mr. X in Stillwater at all.
“Ehn.”
Robin nodded and said, “Please look after Fiona for the following days. Her father will stay here as well. He’s our security guard.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Nick Abel.”
Nick followed Robin back to Eleanor Manor after cleaning the bar. He wore a security guard’s uniform, looking honest and reliable, reminding Melody of a migrant worker.
“Nice to meet you, too. I’m Melody House.”
Melody was puzzled by the migrant worker, doubting if he could do his job well.
She wouldn’t have been like this if she had known how many people Nick had killed before.
“OK. Time for bed. Don’t leave your room tonight, no matter what you hear. Melody, please take good care of Fiona,” Robin reminded Melody.
Melody stayed in Eleanor Manor as well.
“Yes, Mr. Bailey.”
Melody nodded. Although she was confused, she was obedient to Mr. X and reminded herself to be professional.
When it was midnight, Robin sat on the balcony while reading a book. Moonlight fell onto his face with a sharp outline.
“They’re here, Primus,” Nick walked to the balcony and told him.
“Ehn.”
Robin didn’t stop turning the page as if Nick’s words had nothing to do with him.
Meanwhile, a group of men in black appeared in the corner of Eleanor Manor. Harley was in the lead, his eagle-sharp eyes scanning around alertly.
“No security guards, Captain,” one subordinate said.
Thirty men were in the group, all the orphans adopted by the Holland family. The Holland family provided them with special forces training and used them as their last trump card.
Earlier, they were all abroad working as a mercenary group. A few days ago, Jasper called them back.
All of them were elites.
Harley was in charge of them. He was the only one who knew how competent his group was. Every mercenary had experienced hundreds of fights or battles. Upon the mercenary group, the Holland family became influential in Stillwater.
Their family had over a hundred years of history, so they had various means.
“Mr. X, you must have never known we’ve decided to kill you now, although we looked weak and compromised to you. As long as you die, our Holland family will become famous,” Harley sneered.
Earlier, they all acted to compromise with Robin. They came over to kill Mr. X at midnight when he was sleeping soundly.
Harley also wanted to remove his mask.
“I can’t wait to see who you are since you’ve always hidden your face.”
Harley flicked his hands at his teammates with a murderous look to make a move. However, he didn’t see anyone rush forward, frowning deeply.
When he was about to look back, a voice sounded in his ear, “Freeze!”
An icy coldness was pressed against his neck.
Only then did he hear a voice from behind. “Cap-Captain… We… We’ve been surrounded… They… They used broadswords… from… Forte Eastern…”
“Damn it!”
Harley’s pupils constricted. He felt the threat of death and found many people around him and his group. They were already surrounded.
Unfortunately, he even didn’t know when the enemies had appeared.
Harley doubted when his alertness became THAT weak.
Then he realized his alertness wasn’t weak, but his enemies were too competent. Harley felt suffocated.
“Tell me who you are. I don’t want to die with regret.”
Harley gritted his teeth. He didn’t want to die but knew he couldn’t do anything. He was sure those guards in Eleanor Manor were Mr. X’s force, and he had been ready to fight with them.
However, he had never expected his enemies to be horribly competent. Harley had always been proud of his own group, as every one of them was an elite. Until then, he found he was too short-sighted.
They had already failed before taking any action.
Harley was reluctant but couldn’t do anything.
Before he died, he knew the Holland family’s ending was approaching. He only wished to know who the enemies were.
“Wolfman Guards, Forte Eastern.”
These were the last words Harley heard when he was alive.
