“If I tell you I guessed it, will you believe me?”
Robin looked at Lacey.
“Impossible!” Lacey immediately denied it.
Earlier, she thought Robin had just made a guess. Therefore, when he knocked at the table, she ignored him. However, when Robin called her name, she realized she had been exposed.
“It’s summer, but you wear a cap. If you were outdoors, you might need it to block the sun. However, you are in the cafe. The air conditioner is on. Why are you still wearing a cap? Either you like wearing a cap or forget to take it off. Or, you want to hide from others as you don’t want to be recognized.”
“Your only flaw is to sit behind Ms. Angelo. When I sat down, she blocked you, so I couldn’t see you. However, you could eavesdrop on our conversation. You’ve chosen the best position, but you wear a cap. Instead of hiding yourself well, you exposed yourself.”
“Anyway, I won’t do no harm to you two, Officer Willis.”
Robin explained to them patiently. Otherwise, he could tell Lacey would feel upset for many days. If she was annoyed, probably, she would go directly to Houry’s Villa and make trouble.
“How did you know it was me?”
“Who else has the persistence to be against me besides you?”
Lacey was rendered wordless, her chest heaving up and down in anger. However, she had to admit to being defeated again. She wasn’t reluctant after Robin had exposed her last time, so she tried again.
Much to her surprise, she failed again.
Last time, she had underestimated Robin. However, this time, she had overestimated him. Therefore, her overcaution exposed her instead.
Lacey wondered if her education in the police school was in vain.
Before graduating, she was a straight-A student in every subject. She won the first prize in disguise, combat, or sniping. However, Robin had exposed her mask twice in a row.
Lacey almost lost her confidence.
She had been a policewoman for years but was defeated by a live-in son-in-law. In her opinion, Robin was a man from an affluent family, who she detested the most.
Anger surged in her chest.
However, Lacey repressed it. Even if she longed to arrest Robin, she needed evidence. Last time, she had evidence as Reginald actively kidnapped Elise and was revenged.
Even if they caught Robin, he would be released soon for self-defense. Therefore, Lacey couldn’t make trouble for him.
Inwardly, she swore to arrest Robin next time. As long as he stayed in Stillwater, she would never let him do evil deeds.
“Humph! I was worried you might hurt my cousin. After all, my cousin is too pretty.”
“My wife is pretty, too.”
“Gee…”
Glaring at Robin in anger, Lacey curled her lips. Then she cocked her head aside.
Suddenly, the other woman chimed in, “Sorry, Mr. Bailey. My cousin is too playful. I told her I would like to have a deal with you, but she insisted on following me. I’m curious, though. How did you recognize me?”
“Your name is on the agreement.”
There was an agreement on top of the file she pushed to Robin.
Alastair was taken aback as she hadn’t expected to expose herself so directly. However, she adjusted her mood quickly and said, “All right. Let me make a self-introduction. I’m Alastair Angelo, a director. I’d like you to play a piano song for my movie. Last time, I saw you play the piano on the video. Your song fits my movie. I’d like to buy it from you.”
Alastair looked faithful.
“Alastair Angelo? What’s your movie’s name?”
“What Love Can Do.”
“It’s really you.”
Robin had heard of Alastair’s name before but had forgotten when. When she mentioned “What Love Can Do”, he recalled.
Alastair was known as a talented director. She directed five to six movies, and each became a blockbuster. She was worth over 200 million dollars in the business and was the most popular director. Currently, she was planning for her next movie, “What Love Can Do”.
Robin gathered such information following Nina to the audition organized by the fake entertainment company.
“He knows you because one fake entertainment company deceived actresses in your crew’s name. This guy reported it to us,” Lacey reminded her cousin.
Although she always thought Robin was indecent, she had to admit the credit for that case should go to Robin.
“Really?”
Alastair was taken aback. In a surprise, she added, “Thank you so much, Mr. Bailey. That organization has harmed many girls in our name. I wished to report them to the police long ago but couldn’t do anything.”
“You are welcome,” Robin replied.
“Let’s continue with our unfinished topic. I’d liked to pay you 400, 000 million dollars for your piano song. What do you think?” Alastair asked tentatively.
Her offering was pretty high in the market. Only a few directors would have done so. After all, it was only one piano song.
However, Robin didn’t lack the 400, 000 million dollars.
“Sorry, but I have to turn you down,” he refused.
“Do you have any conditions? Please name it. We can discuss your requests and the price,” Alastair suggested again, unwilling to give up.
After listening to Robin’s song, she was stunned and decided to invite him to play a song for her movie. Therefore, she contacted Lacey to check who the pianist was and found Robin.
Miranda couldn’t find who the piano master was, but Lacey could. After all, Lacey was a policewoman.
“Alastair, money won’t work for him. He’s from an affluent family with an a-billion-dollar weekly allowance. He doesn’t lack money. I’m afraid all your savings couldn’t be compared to his properties.”
Alastair looked disappointed. Lacey reminded her of those facts on the way to the coffee shop. However, she couldn’t offer anything except money.
She wondered if she should use a honey trap but hesitated as she had never had a boyfriend.
“Well… My wife’s younger sister, Nina Houry, is in her third year of college. She’s looking for an internship. Can you let her play an unimportant role in ‘What Love Can Do’? You don’t need to arrange for her to play an important role. Or she’ll become too proud.”
“No problem,” Alastair immediately agreed.
“By the way, I also have requirements for the price. The song was written by my mother. I want 20% of your movie’s profits. Please donate it to the charity on my behalf.”
“Deal!”
They made an agreement eventually, but the price was ten times more than Alastair’s offering.
The piano song was from Robin’s mother, so he was unwilling to hide it from the public or sell it at a low price. Therefore, 400, 000 dollars were too little.
“I look forward to our cooperation,” Alastair agreed, gritting her teeth.
Since she listened to the song, she couldn’t have the mood to find another theme for her movie. She had high expectations for her new film, so it deserved the best song.
She also didn’t mind donating the money to a charity for social responsibility.
