Chapter 106 Long Way to Go

“I have a long way to go, then.”
Robin could tell Elise had started to like him. Initially, it was because of Leslie, but now, Elise was willing to protect him.
“How dare you flirt with each other during office hours? Ms. Houry, you are the chairwoman of the board, but you are indeed idle. TSK. TSK,” suddenly, a harsh voice sounded at the door.
“Snowy Houry.”
Robin scowled at Snow at the door. She had interrupted the sweet moment between him and Elise.
“Stop giving me that look! You are just a security guard. How dare you glare at me!”
Snowy pinned him with a look. Holding her arms across her chest, she said to Elise, “Ms. Houry, you are sent here to work, not to game.”
“Why are you here?”
Elise glared at her unkindly.
“I’m here to watch you. The board of directors sent me here. I’m the inspector of this project, so I must keep an eye on you. You’ll be fired if the project cannot be finished on time. It’s our company rules, as you know.”
Snowy pulled out an assignment to show her title in this project.
Elise also knew the company rules. After all, the chairwoman of the board was superior to other positions but also had high responsibility. She must guarantee the company was going on the right path.
Once she caused a huge loss, she must step down from her current position.
Seven years ago, these rules forced Elise to resign from the position of chairwoman. Much to her surprise, other directors threatened her with this rule again.
“It’s been several days. Still haven’t found an engineer?” Snowy asked evilly after looking around.
“He’s on the way.”
Elise clenched her hands awkwardly. All the current engineers in Lands Corporation only listened to David, so she couldn’t let them work. Once she wanted to fire them, the board of directors would refuse.
Her power had been utterly deprived.
Elise also tried to hire some engineers, but the fresh graduates or the common ones couldn’t do anything for the project.
“Elise, this project is essential to our Lands Corporation. The land is super valuable. You must find good engineers. If the quality doesn’t meet the requirements, we have to pay for the penalty,” Snowy repeatedly reminded Elise how important the project was.
However, she and David stopped their engineers from working for Elise, so none dared to come to the project.
All they wished was Elise would quit the job.
Once Elise couldn’t finish this project, she was incompetent to be the chairwoman. According to the company rules, she must step down.
In that case, David could naturally become Lands Corporation’s chairman of the board.
“The engineer is on the way,” Robin repeated to Snowy.
“On the way? Where is he? Who will come to this shabby place? Elise doesn’t have must startup fund. How could she afford an excellent engineer? Tell me where your engineer is.”
Snowy wore a gloating smile.
Lands Corporation only gave 6, 000 dollars as the startup fund for Elise, which wasn’t enough to hire a senior engineer.
Suddenly, a man’s voice sounded at the door. “I’m the engineer.”
Snowy was taken aback and turned around immediately. A man holding a walking stick entered the warehouse, and a woman was helping him.
“A cripple? Haha…”
Snowy burst into laughter. She had thought Elise had found someone important, but it turned out to be a disabled man.
What could a cripple do?
“Here I am, Robin.”
Dillon walked to Robin.
“This is Dillon James, my friend, the engineer I mentioned earlier. She’s Emma,” Robin introduced the two to Elise.
“Dillon James?”
Elise looked at Dillon up and down and could tell he was a good-looking gentleman. However, he used a crutch while walking, so Elise didn’t think he was reliable and didn’t ask if he was a doctor’s degree holder from the University of Aappitat.
She didn’t want to embarrass herself.
After all, she didn’t believe Robin’s words and thought he had coaxed her.
“Oops! What kind of engineer are you? What certificates do you have? Which university did you graduate from? Are you just an ordinary engineer?” Snowy asked ironically.
She didn’t believe Elise could hire an excellent engineer with such little money. She guessed this man probably hadn’t been to college.
“Right. I’m an ordinary engineer,” Dillon nodded and answered.
His words sent Snowy into joy. She knew he was just an ordinary engineer. However, the next second, Dillon pulled out a certificate.
“I have a doctor’s degree from the University of Aappitat. This is my diploma.”
Then he pulled out several other certificates. “I’m a certified construction engineer, fire engineer, and registered architect. When I was at university, I was too bored, so I took such exams. Those are the requested licenses for an engineer.”
Snowy gaped at him.
Dillon declared he was an ordinary engineer, but he graduated with an architecture major from the University of Aappitat, one of the top universities of Kisia. Notably, he had a doctor’s degree. A man like him would have already been hired by big companies before he graduated.
However, Dillon appeared in Elise’s shabby company.
Besides, he had obtained all the necessary licenses. If he were an ordinary engineer, none of the engineers in Stillwater would be qualified to be an engineer.
“Impossible! You have a doctor’s degree from the University of Aappitat. How can you be here? You faked the licenses!”
Snowy shook her head, gritting her teeth.
She didn’t believe Dillon’s words at all.
“You can check his licenses online. His photos and names should be announced,” Robin reminded her.
“Of course. I’ll verify them.”
Snowy also thought of it. A bad hunch rose in her chest. She immediately pulled out her phone and looked up Dillon’s license and certificates.
A minute later, she compared the information on her phone screen with Dillon as she saw his photos and name.
“Did you have plastic surgery?”
“This is my ID. Dillon James.”
Dillon showed his ID card to her.
He didn’t wear fashionable street clothes today. Instead, he dyed his hair black and returned to being like a college student. He wore a white shirt, suit trousers, and glasses, looking like a gentleman.
That was his original look.
“Your licenses are real. You hold a doctor’s degree from the University of Aappitat. How can you appear here? Argh! What’s going on? I can’t believe it.”
Snowy scratched her head in confusion.
